Think you'd see someone like Paul Joyce or James Pearce pouring cold water over it if we felt the deal was impossible.

I guess Steve’s point is while we’ve spent a lot of money this summer, all the clubs have, and continently we’ve also made about £160m in sales and spent £15m last season.

August 11Aug 11 Author It just seems like it's at loggerheads at the moment. Reading between the lines it looks like Newcastle gave us the greenlight but the Saudi overlords came in and flat out rejected everything. It sounds an absolute mess behind the scenes at Newcastle and a complete internal power struggle. Like I say though, usually we pour cold water when we have no chance via a couple of journalists but not happened yet and the mainstream ones connected to Agents (Indykalia, Romano) still insist there's a good chance.
August 12Aug 12 Author As I’ve suspected, if Isak was really off the table we’d have poured cold water of it. It just sounds unbelievably messy from Newcastle. People can say “oh he’s got 3 years on his contract” but players ask to leave all the time, it’s part of football. No idea if it gets done still, but it sounds utterly toxic.

Does seem like he was promised a lot and they’ve not delivered. I think it will get done but end of the window.
