The heat didn't seem to affect the quality in Qatar! To be fair, it will only be a problem in some states, East Coast shouldn't be too bad, but certainly the West and South is going to be hoooot.

A big problem you've got with this Club World Cup is the lack of travelling fans, unlike in a World Cup. Plus the games will be at prime time for European audiences too.

Auckland City are apparently an amateur club according to New Zealand resident who posted about it on reddit, who won their National League and was the best choice to have an actual Oceania league mem

  • I've watched Wellington Phoenix live in 2014. They beat some Australian team I can't remember 5-0 in the A League. Love their home kit too

  • So they're trying to over-Americanise a commodity that most Americans themselves don't even care for, let alone the rest of the world.

You mean 94? Don’t remember 2002 being as hot as other pkaces? I’d imagine 90 was hit being in Italy!

No definitely 2002! Specifically the England vs Nigeria group stage match that was played above 30 degrees. You had high humidity there too in certain places.

Yeh def would be hot over there, my memory is more of the Ireland games at it being in the evenings so maybe not as warm then. And my generations hot World Cup was 94 with Ireland cms Norway/Italy/Mexico in the Miami heat.

I tend to remember Ireland struggling in the heat versus Italy or Mexico in 1994, but I was only 11 at the time. Must have been the Mexico game they lost 2-1 played in Orlando, Florida in late June is oppressive levels of humidity.

Drier heat in the South-west and pleasant on the west coast though. It's actually the east where humidity is the worst though.

I don’t mind the concept but the players will suffer. Big heat, hardly any rest then boom intense season again. It will be interesting to see if it costs Chelsea and City next season. City 1-0 up right now Foden I forgot he existed

Didn’t take long for Trent to be beaten down the line!

Real Madrid technically have a great squad but they look so average. It’s very weird. That galactico thing just doesn’t work

How are Salzburg in it?

Sorry forgot to check my world soccer magazine to confirm this until now - “they owe their invitation to an 18th place in UEFAs four year coefficient rankings”. Yet they only reached the champions league last 16 once in that period. Their good fortune was that all the sides above them in the ranking had either qualified as champions league winners or were from a nation that had already filled its 2 club quota meaning Liverpool, AC Milan, RB Leipzig, Barca, Napoli and Sevilla missed out.

Yes, Palmerias v Al Ahly was suspended due to the lighting. Apparently it is the third match to be suspended due to weather conditions.

Inter Milan v Urawa Reds on 5Action for some reason tomorrow night at 8pm (UK Time).

Flamengo beat Chelsea 3-1 so far the teams from Brazil beating everybody
