The Darkness The Battle For Gadget Land (7

weeks) (1-4-11-10-11-16-x-20)

For the first time since February there's no Lady Gaga to be seen in either chart, but with Zombieboy rumoured to be receiving a single treatment in the coming weeks, and having not hit the threshold of being in the chart for 10 weeks quite yet, it would be eligible for a re-entry if the play counts warrant one in due course. But for now, Gags makes way for another big-hitter whose career was birthed in the 2000s decade: Girls Aloud. They have their maximum quota of chart entries this week, of 3 tracks from 1 album, that being the newly issued live album of their 2024 set. Another 3-track marvel in the chart this week is, like last week, Marina, who may have lost the album chart battle by just 2 streams, but also missed the #1 on the songs chart by just 3 streams. Early indications suggest Marina might just clinch it with Princess of Power next week!

Albums

1(-) Girls Aloud The Girls Aloud Show **NEW**

2(1) Marina Princess of Power (2 weeks) (1-2-)

3(3) Miley Cyrus Something Beautiful (3 weeks) (2-3-3-)

4(4) Steeleye Span Conflict (3 weeks) (4-4-4-)

5(2) Britney Spears Oops!…I Did It Again (25th Anniversary Edition) (5 weeks) (1-2-1-2-5-)

6(7) Louise Confessions (4 weeks) (10-7-7-6-)

7(5) The Darkness Dreams On Toast (12 weeks) (1-2-5-1-1-3-2-4-3-5-5-7-)

8(8) Mariah Carey The Emancipation of Mimi (20th Anniversary Edition) (2 weeks) (8-8-)

9(-) Cynthia Erivo I Forgive You **NEW**

10(9) Andy Bell Ten Crowns (7 weeks) (1-1-3-1-6-9-10-)

OUT

Lady Gaga MAYHEM (14 weeks) (1-1-2-2-3-9-5-5-4-3-5-4-3-6)

Jordan Firstman Secrets (9 weeks) (7-2-

2-2-4-7-5-8-10)

And just like in the songs chart, Gags is out after a fairly short 14 weeks. I just haven't been obsessed with Mayhem, but at least it has more life than Joanne.

Girls Aloud's previous live albums have had varying levels of sound quality, but it seems all they needed was a Nicola Roberts to get their recorded live output sounding almost studio quality!

As my physical copy of Princess of Power remains somewhere in Frankfurt, it didn't get its extra default week at the number 1 for being obtained physically at some point during this tracking week. However, with The Girls Aloud Show currently winging its way over from Berlin as well, it looks like they're a shoe-in for a 2nd week on top next week, with Marina at #2 once more and Soft Cell a new entry at #3 with the reissued Non-Stop Ecstatic Dancing on its way from Amazon HQ tomorrow!

This is the first time Girls Aloud have had a #1 album on this incarnation of Tim's Top 10 Albums, though they did remarkably well last year with the reissue of Neighbours, which hit #2 and hung around for more than 6 months. Fingers crossed for a Chemistry reissue that has a load of new extras and not just a Christmastry picture disc edition, before the year's out.

On a technicality Cynthia Erivo scores her 2nd hit album in less than 6 months, following the Wicked soundtrack. Sadly I can't see this album hanging around for long...She's like the Leona Lewis of 2025, a superstar voice without the music to back it up.

Hey Tim!

Boy Thing is a fab #1 and a great run it's had too. It's very different for Kesha I think. I like it though and if anything it's closer in sound to what she was doing earlier in her career!
