  1. Madonna spends a 17th week in a row at #1, and (probably) the most number of weeks at #1 ever on Tim's Top 20 Tracks with the same song, as Love Sensation clocks an 11th week at the summit out of its 14 weeks on the chart. Unsurprisingly, the track is on course to be the #1 Track of 2026, with less than a third of the year left, and at least another week or two as the weekly #1, based on current projections. The number of artists on the Tracks chart increases from last week's rather low 10, to 11, as Madonna, Girls Aloud and Sam Smith max out their 3 tracks per album allowance on a single chart. However, this is the first week since Confessions 2’s entry week (w/e 9th July) that 3 of its tracks haven't dominated the top 3 positions, as the 2 new Girls Aloud tracks nudge into 2nd and 3rd position. 2. Hey James. Nah I think it had a boost after the album release, but Petal is just in my current tracks playlist as part of the shuffle now. Not a lot has grabbed me from Petal that I want to play the album from start to finish in one go. Thanks for commenting as ever 🙂
  3. With the most weeks at #1 for a track in years Love Sensation keeps Madonna at the summit with one song or another from Confessions 2 for a 5th calendar month without a gap. While the Kylie version is definitely contributing to its success, the original is still the most played of the tracking period (4 weeks to 23:59, 3rd September). Partly as a result of only the 3 most streamed tracks from the same studio album during the tracking period being allowed on the chart at a time, already an 8th track from Confessions 2 enters the chart this week at #3. This time Read My Lips replaces Everything, after just 2 weeks on the chart. Also maxing out their allowances are Girls Aloud with new tracks (or versions of older tracks) from the Tangled Up reissue, which keeps Madonna off the top of the album chart even without the bonus weighting it had last week, that being 1 additional streaming point being added for each track on a new album or reissue physically purchased in the 7 days leading up to the chart cut-off. The accidental discovery of Ashe happened when I heard Stop The Wedding on Radio 2 in the car a couple of weeks back...and I barely bother with the radio anymore. I think the arrangement is brilliant and it's a bit Elton in places. Sam Smith's current album is much better than anticipated. The tracks on their own didn't sell the album to me, but as a whole, it's deceptively listenable, and helps Sam max out their chart allowance too! Ariana also has 3 tracks in the chart, keeping the number of unique artists in the top 20 at a mere 10. Benefitting from the 'streaming' point bonus is Bananarama, whose True Confessions 3-cd edition has 46 tracks, which alone sends the reissue vaulting to #3 this week. I don't think Dolly will be eyeing anything...
  5. Madonna continues maxing out her 3-tracks-per-album limit within the tracks chart, with the remixes for Danceteria finally making appearances, allowing the song to return to its former #3 position, and knock Bizarre from the chart after a bizarre chart run of its own (2-2-2-OUT). Also maxing out their allowances are Girls Aloud, Ariana, Charli and Olivia. Girls Aloud also took it to the wire on the albums chart. Any physical albums released during the last 12 months, delivered during the week leading up to the chart, have their track quantities converted into streams. This was the decider that pushed the Tangled Up deluxe editions to enter at the top by just a handful of points, knocking Confessions II from the top after 7 weeks. The outlook for next week's albums chart is that Girls Aloud may stay on top of the albums chart without the bonus points from album deliveries anyway. There will likely be new (old) entries for Andy Bell and Bananarama. The tracks chart is likely to see climbs for the brand new Girls Aloud vault tracks and, I'm sure there'll be another surprise on the way to keep Madonna on the throne. I was brought up with Dolly records in the 80s and 90s as my parents are Boomers. It's so strange that she was so popular in the UK without much of a track record on the charts here. The internet doesn't seem to be able to tell me much about how she was so popular without the corresponding sales. I know there was some kind of country boom in the mid 70s here, including a multi-act concert at Wembley Arena in 1975 that was Dolly's first step on British soil, but beyond that I'm stumped. They took the wrong 80-year-old. RIP Queen Dolly 🏳️‍🌈 IWALY
  7. So it's arrived and guess what? The sleeve is torn on the edge! FFS record manufacturers need to sort their sh!t out with the amount they're charging for these records now.

I'm in the same boat. If it was cheaper/had more tracks I'd snap it up. A maxi single would be mega for this era.

I take it that's what the BSI Merch dispatch notification is about then? None of these places ever tell you what the order they've dispatched actually is.
  11. I'm absolutely obsessed with Confessions II. The first one is one of my all time favourite albums and I keep having little phases focussing on different tracks from it even after 5 weeks of hammering it. Thanks for commenting as ever 🙂
  12. While the last minute addition of the Kylie-featuring remixes increased the play counts before the cut-off for this rolling 4-week period, it made no difference to Love Sensation, which was already primed for a return to #1 for a 6th week total to date. The introduction of Bizarre, and the 3 tracks per artist album limit, mean there is another swift exit for Bring Your Love, which wasn't one of the 3 most streamed tracks from the album for the tracking period. It also won't be returning in its current forms as it had already been in the chart for over 10 weeks, meaning it's not allowed back in unless the total plays of previously unreleased mixes amount to enough for a chart entry of their own in the future. Charli is using up her 3 track allocations as far up as she physically can, beneath the Madonna stranglehold. With a tepid reception to Petal and not much else new on the horizon that has grabbed my attention, it looks like Confessions II will keep its crown for some time yet... The arrival of 3 classic Kylie albums (and Kiss Me Once) on LP this week should guarantee a record-breaking 4 albums on the chart in the same week next week though.
  13. Another maxing out of the top 3 tracks and scoring a 4th week at #1, Confessions II is now in my top 50 most consumed albums since my Last FM account started in March 2010. It will take some time before it's threatening Femme Fatale though... As the charts are based on rolling 4-week play counts, early indications suggest Madonna will remain at #1 on the albums front for another couple of weeks at least. The biggest threat to #1 on the Tracks chart looks to be a return for Love Sensation. But, we'll find out for definite next week. Giving little time for streaming much else, reaching the lower end of the album chart took giving them barely any attention. Even the terrible new Shania Twain album, which I gave up on after a few songs, managed to enter at #7. To think this is the same person who gave us The Woman In Me, Come On Over and Up! Proof to me that, sadly, she's an artist who needs to stick with a problematic producer for a decent body of work (see Katy Perry)...
  14. Brief commentary - So Madonna continues to max out her allowances on the chart, with the top 3 tracks (no more than 3 tracks per artist album allowed to chart per week) and the #1 album. The initial hammering of Confessions II (already in my top 100 since tracking began in March 2010), has led to a severe drop in consumption over the last few days so, could Bronski Beat finally take over next week, or will Charli xcx be the one to cause an upset?
  15. Brief commentary: While Confessions II already becomes my most played album of the year so far, and hits my top 100 most played albums since 2010, Danceteria appears twice in the tracks chart, but as two completely different songs about the same 80s club. Madonna also manages to knock herself out of the chart by maxing out on the 3-tracks-per-album rule, causing I Feel So Free to leave the chart altogether, with Danceteria zooming to a top spot new entry. You can hear my Danceteria/Rapture Mash-Up here: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLXUGff64_qz0&si=noGkYRKKHu2xDPAx
  16. Madonna's sailed to this week's chart double, including securing the top 3 tracks, thereby maxing out the 3-tracks-per-album rule yet again. She manages to nab a 4th entry in a week once more, however, with the Dolce and Gabbana song, released way back in December. There was no way she wasn't going to have the #1 album with Confessions II, which could become my favourite Madonna album...but, we'll wait for the novelty to wear off first. Madonna's album has also caused The Divine Comedy's album from last September to finally leave the top 10 (for now) after notching up and unexpected 30 weeks in the chart. In that time it became both my #8 most played album of last year, as well as my #8 most played album of 2026 to the end of June. It's still eligible to return if it gets played enough before its 1st release date anniversary or gets a reissue thereafter...
  17. If you like LES Girl you might like Studio Electronique. It's essentially a solo artist who's music is very similar. He supported The Divine Comedy on their last tour and he was great. If Confessions II is Madonna's swansong, this track is a fitting ending to 44 years of hits.
  18. Hey! I put the chart into ChatGPT and asked it to make a visual of my charts that would look like something you'd see in a music trade magazine. With a bit of tweaking to the initial prompt I eventually had the above which saves as a jpg so it can just be added to the post.

I Feel So Free is kept from falling more drastically by having a stellar remix in the ether, courtesy of Peggy Gou. Soft Cell scored a number of hits on my album and tracks charts over the last 2 years due to reissues of their first 2 albums. They finally score the first all-new hit since their 2022 #1 Purple Zone in Danceteria, which coincidentally features Madonna in the lyric, and shares its title with a track from Confessions II... Nicking a bit of fellow Swedish act Roxette's She's Got The Look, A*Teens score their surprise 2nd hit of 2026 on Tim's Top 20 Tracks with You Got The Look. Their best single by a mile is 2001s Upside Down, which I don't think will change anytime soon. The albums chart is on its knees, with little new stuff of note being played at the moment. This has enabled Melanie C to score the longest #1 run at the top so far this year. But a 5-week #1 is still a 5-week #1. Madonna sees her though...
