Posted April 8, 200619 yr Ok on my way home on the train today I was listening to 'Don't Look Back Into The Sun' on my iPod and I couldn't help but think about what could have been if everything didn't go pear shaped thanks to Pete's crack addiction and his relationship with Carl after burgling his house etc. :( I actually felt quite annoyed for some reason as they probably would have been what the Arctic Monkeys are right now (in a kind of Stone Roses and Oasis kind of thing) I do wonder if they were still together would their music be as great as it was then and would they reach the potential they had...? I know Dirty Pretty Things look like they'll be great and IMO Babyshambles' album was great but I'd still rather have them around. :( Speaking of Babyshambles I'm thinking of seeing them at the Civic this month but I'm not sure if I want to wait until 2am for them to come on, infact Pete probably won't turn up. -_- I just thought I'd say what was on my mind today...
April 8, 200619 yr It could have been great for them but Pete Doherty is a complete arse and is way up his own arse. He considers himself as important/more important than John Lennon. Dirty Pretty Things will wipe the floor with Babyshambles.
April 8, 200619 yr Author It's a shame :( Pete is a genius but because of the way he is and what the media show with his drugs and everything most people don't actually know much about his music with the Libs or Babyshambles and just label him as 'talentless' :( Maybe he could have been nearly as important as John Lennon but NO ONE will ever be though. I agree that DTP will wipe the floor though. ;)
April 9, 200619 yr How much you like the Libertines depends on how often you bought the NME from 2002 - 2004 really doesn't it? :P
April 10, 200619 yr Author I didn't buy it very much in that period  Anyway I discovered them before I saw them in there :P Up The Bracket is just as good if not better than Whatever People Say I Am... imo :(
April 10, 200619 yr How much you like the Libertines depends on how often you bought the NME from 2002 - 2004 really doesn't it? :P Which in my case would be not at all...  Sorry, I just never bought into the Libertines at all, and comparing them to Stone Roses, or even Oasis, is just fukkin' laughable....  And what I've heard of Dirty Pretty Things doesnt really impress me too much either to be perfectly honest, but in saying that, they beat the insufferable $h!te that is Pete Doherty and Babyshambles hands down....
April 10, 200619 yr Sorry but i think the Libertines were one of the most overated bands ever. Pete is no genius. I have never liked any of his songs and he is a truely awful singer if you ask me.
April 10, 200619 yr How much you like the Libertines depends on how often you bought the NME from 2002 - 2004 really doesn't it? :P I've never bought a copy of NME EVER and never will. Awful magazine... More chance of me buying a Westlife cd...
