Alex Warren’s ‘Ordinary’ No. 1 on Billboard Hot 100 for Milestone 10th Week

By Gary Trust | 8/18/2025

Alex Warren’s “Ordinary” rebounds a rank to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, marking its milestone 10th week in the chart’s top spot.

Over the Hot 100’s 67-year history, a mere 4% of all Hot 100 No. 1s (47 of 1,183) have dominated for double-digit weeks. “Ordinary” is the first to reach the mark since Kendrick Lamar and SZA’s “Luther,” which led for 13 weeks beginning in March. Before that, Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” reigned for a record-tying 19 weeks beginning in July of last year.

Meanwhile, the soundtrack to the smash Netflix animated film KPop Demon Hunters adds its third Hot 100 top 10, as Saja Boys’ “Soda Pop” bounds 14-10. It’s the second top 10 for the act — whose music is voiced by Andrew Choi, Neckwav, Danny Chung, Kevin Woo and samUIL Lee — joining “Your Idol,” which surges to the top five (8-4). The set’s “Golden” by HUNTR/X — the singing trio of EJAE, Audrey Nuna and REI AMI — ranks at No. 2, a week after rising to No. 1.

“Ordinary,” on Atlantic Records, tallied 23.9 million official streams (up 14% week-over-week), 74 million radio airplay audience impressions (up 1%) and 7,000 sold (down 10%) in the United States Aug. 8-14.

The track rises 3-2 on Streaming Songs, following four weeks at the summit, and scores a ninth week at No. 1 on Radio Songs and an 11th week atop on Digital Song Sales. It received a boost in the tracking week from the Aug. 7 release of its remix with Luke Combs, which he and Warren unveiled at Lollapalooza.

Elsewhere, “Ordinary” continues atop the Songs of the Summer chart, having led in all 12 weeks since the survey made its annual return after Memorial Day.

Plus, “Ordinary” tops the Pop Airplay chart for a 10th week. As on the Hot 100, only 4% of all No. 1s have led the mainstream top 40 radio ranking for at least that long since it began in October 1992. (It’s the first No. 1 to link at least 10 weeks on top consecutively since The Kid LAROI and Justin Bieber’s “Stay” in 2021.)

The soundtrack to Netflix’s KPop Demon Hunters snares a third Hot 100 top 10, as Saja Boys’ “Soda Pop” buzzes 14-10. It gained by 4% to 17.6 million streams and 6% to 3,000 sold.

It’s the second Hot 100 top 10 for the quintet, as “Your Idol” becomes its first top five hit, jumping 8-4 led by 20.3 million streams (up 3%).

Meanwhile, HUNTR/X’s “Golden” retreats to No. 2 on the Hot 100 despite across-the-board gains to 32.8 million streams (up 4%) — it tops Streaming Songs for a fourth week —11.6 million in radio audience (up 38%) and 7,000 sold (up 6%).

Despite their on-screen battles, HUNTR/X and Saja Boys join to make KPop Demon Hunters a rare modern movie to have produced at least three Hot 100 top 10s, a feat more common in past decades.

Saturday Night Fever became the first, and to date only, soundtrack with four Hot 100 No. 1s, in 1977-78: Bee Gees “How Deep Is Your Love,” “Stayin’ Alive” and “Night Fever” and Yvonne Elliman’s “If I Can’t Have You” (also written by the trio). Later in 1978, four songs from Grease revved to the top 10, including Frankie Valli’s title track and “You’re the One That I Want” by the film’s leads John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John.

The ‘80s became a heyday for film and TV soundtracks, highlighted by The Jazz Singer, Footloose, Beverly Hills Cop, Miami Vice, Beverly Hills Cop II and Dirty Dancing, each with three Hot 100 top 10s. In 1984-85, Prince and the Revolution’s Purple Rain launched four Hot 100 top 10s, including the No. 1s “When Doves Cry” and “Let’s Go Crazy.”

In the ‘90s, Whitney Houston starred in The Bodyguard (three Hot 100 top 10s in 1992-93) and Waiting To Exhale (four in 1995-96; two by Houston, including one with CeCe Winans, and hits by Mary J. Blige and Brandy). In 1997, Space Jam and Batman & Robin each spun off three top 10s.

Soundtracks with multiple hits have experienced a bit of a reboot this decade, with two prior to KPop Demon Hunters each having produced two Hot 100 top 10s and a top 20 entry. In 2022, the Encanto cast scored with “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” (No. 1 for five weeks), “Surface Pressure” (No. 8) and “The Family Madrigal” (No. 20). In 2023, Barbie: The Album turned out Dua Lipa’s “Dance the Night” (No. 6), Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice’s “Barbie World,” with Aqua (No. 7), and Billie Eilish’s “What Was I Made For?” (No. 14).

Meanwhile, KPop Demon Hunters joins the likes of Saturday Night Fever and Waiting To Exhale in having boasted three Hot 100 top 10s simultaneously.

Morgan Wallen’s “What I Want,” featuring Tate McRae, lifts 4-3 on the Hot 100, after it debuted in May as Wallen’s fourth No. 1 and McRae’s first. It logs a 13th week at No. 1 on the multimetric Hot Country Songs chart.

Ravyn Lenae earns her first top five Hot 100 hit as “Love Me Not” rises 6-5.

Justin Bieber’s No. 2-peaking “Daisies” drops 5-6 on the Hot 100.

Teddy Swims’ “Lose Control,” which led the Hot 100 for a week in March 2024, and finished as the year’s No. 1 song, climbs 9-7 — as it adds a record-extending 104th week on the chart overall and a record-padding 74th week in the top 10.

Wallen’s “Just in Case” descends 7-8 on the Hot 100, after reaching No. 2, and Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” sidles up a spot to No. 9.

HOT 100 20.08.25 #45

TOP TEN:

10. Soda Pop – Saja Boys (Up 4/NEW PEAK/7 weeks in chart)
9. A Bar Song (Tipsy) - Shaboozey (Up 1/70 weeks in chart)
8. Just In Case - Morgan Wallen (Down 1/21 weeks in chart)
7. Lose Control – Teddy Swims (Up 2/104 weeks in chart)
6. Daisies – Justin Bieber (Down 1/5 weeks in chart)
5. Love Me Not – Ravyn Lenae (Up 1/NEW PEAK/20 weeks in chart)
4. Your Idol – Saja Boys (Up 4/NEW PEAK/8 weeks in chart)
3. What I Want – Morgan Wallen/Tate McRae (Up 1/13 weeks in chart)
2. Golden – Huntr/X/Ejae/Audrey Nuna/Rei Ami (Down 1/8 weeks in chart)
1. Ordinary - Alex Warren (Up 1/10 weeks, No. 1/27 weeks in chart)

NEW ENTRIES:

99. Many Nights – Gunna (6.9/10)

94. Wgft – Gunna/Burna Boy (6.4/10)

87. GP - Gunna (7.2/10)

86. Lost - Bailey Zimmerman/The Kid Laroi (5.7/10)

An unexpected collaboration despite it playing out exactly the way I thought it would. Bailey brings the energy of a high-country rock song, and The Kid Laroi adds his touch and tone, ticking the boxes in a really boring way. Neither act delivered something apart from the usual message of feeling lost, and, as already said, just basically everything you'd expect from these two.

81. Bowery – Zach Bryan/Kings Of Leon (7/10)

Turns out Zach's style just needed a little rock push with an old tint that was flavoured through use of guitar; it's definitely something that Zach should try and make more of.

80. Let That Sink In - Gunna (6/10)

72. At My Purest – Gunna/Offset (6.9/10)

70. Sakpase - Gunna (8/10)

68. Forever Be Mine – Gunna/Wizkid (5.3/10)

49. Hell At Night – BigXthaPlug/Ella Langley (6.3/10)

BigXthaPlug's fanbase seems angry about his switch to country music, and honestly, I'm not mad, but it definitely doesn't work. Ella gives a half-decent performance that sounds like it needs more flavour, and BigX gives a usual rap part from him that feels like it could be on a different song. Please return to rap.

46. Just Say Dat - Gunna (7.3/10) [1.7+ score]

I admit that Gunna's drum trap loop can often feel repetitive and get tiring, but to me it wasn't bad to start with and still isn't now. I actually enjoy how chill he is on the beat and how easily his flow lands on the beat. Good song.
