September 5, 2025Sep 5 HUNTR/X’s ‘Golden’ Tops Hot 100 for Third Week, ‘KPop Demon Hunters’ Continues AttackBy Gary Trust | 9/2/2025HUNTR/X’s “Golden,” from the soundtrack to the smash animated Netflix film KPop Demon Hunters, glows atop the Billboard Hot 100 chart for a third week.Upon the original coronation of “Golden,” HUNTR/X — the singing trio of EJAE, Audrey Nuna and REI AMI (in the roles of the film’s characters Rumi, Mira and Zoey) — became the first female group associated with Korean pop to crown the Hot 100. The act also became the first all-woman collective of three or more members to lead in 24 years, since Destiny’s Child with “Bootylicious” for two weeks in August 2001.A week ago, KPop Demon Hunters became the first soundtrack to generate four simultaneous Hot 100 top 10s over the chart’s 67-year history. The songs continue in the tier, with Saja Boys’ “Your Idol” and “Soda Pop” holding at their respective Nos. 4 and 5 highs and HUNTR/X’s “How It’s Done” pushing 10-9.Meanwhile, as KPop Demon Hunters has now logged three songs in the Hot 100’s top five simultaneously for two weeks, it joins just one other soundtrack that has achieved such a triple-double: On the charts dated April 8 and 15, 1978, three Saturday Night Fever songs ranked in the region: Bee Gees’ “Night Fever” (No. 1) and “Stayin’ Alive” (No. 2) and Yvonne Eliiman’s “If I Can’t Have You” (also written by the trio; No. 5).“Golden,” on Visva/Republic Records, tallied 35.3 million official streams (up 4% week-over-week), 19.7 million radio airplay audience impressions (up 21%) and 9,000 sold (up 11%) in the United States Aug. 22-28.The track scores a sixth week at No. 1 on the Streaming Songs chart; jumps 42-29 on Radio Songs; and rises a spot for its first week at No. 1 on Digital Song Sales.Gains for “Golden” were boosted by the film’s Aug. 23-24 sing-along wide release in movie theaters and that version’s Aug. 25 premiere on Netflix.“It’s so thrilling that people are hearing the songs in two ways,” KPop Demon Hunters executive music producer Ian Eisendrath recently told Billboard. “Some are loving the film, and the film is making the songs hits … and then some people are just encountering the songs, and the songs are making the film a hit.”“Golden” is the ninth song associated with Korean pop to rule the Hot 100, and the first by female lead vocalists with ties to the genre. (HUNTR/X singers EJAE and REI AMI were born in Seoul, South Korea; Nuna is from New Jersey.) Of the eight previous leaders, six were by BTS and one each by members Jimin and Jung Kook as soloists.“Golden” becomes just the third such song to notch at least three weeks at No. 1 on the Hot 100. Here’s a recap:10 weeks, BTS, “Butter,” beginning June 5, 20213, HUNTR/X: EJAE, Audrey Nuna and REI AMI, “Golden,” beginning Aug. 16, 20253, BTS, “Dynamite,” beginning Sept. 5, 20201, Jung Kook, “Seven” (featuring Latto), July 29, 20231, Jimin, “Like Crazy,” April 8, 20231, BTS, “My Universe” (with Coldplay), Oct. 9, 20211, BTS, “Permission To Dance,” July 24, 20211, BTS, “Life Goes On,” Dec. 5, 20201, BTS, “Savage Love (Laxed – Siren Beat)” (with Jawsh 685 and Jason Derulo), Oct. 17, 2020Plus, as Destiny’s Child “Bootylicious” led the Hot 100 for two weeks in August 2001, “Golden” is the first song by an all-female act of three or more members to reign for at least three weeks since Destiny’s Child’s “Independent Women Part I” dominated for 11 weeks in November 2000-January 2001.Elsewhere in the Hot 100’s top 10, Alex Warren’s “Ordinary” holds at No. 2, after 10 nonconsecutive weeks at No. 1 beginning in June. It adds an 11th week at No. 1 on Radio Songs (74 million, essentially no percentage change).Morgan Wallen’s “What I Want,” featuring Tate McRae, keeps at No. 3 on the Hot 100, after it debuted in May as Wallen’s fourth No. 1 and McRae’s first. It posts a 15th week at No. 1 on the multimetric Hot Country Songs chart.Below Saja Boys’ “Your Idol” and “Soda Pop,” Ravyn Lenae’s “Love Me Not” is steady at No. 6 on the Hot 100, after reaching No. 5, and Sabrina Carpenter’s “Manchild” rebounds 14-7, after it led in its debut week in June, helped by buzz for parent album Man’s Best Friend, released Friday (Aug. 29).Teddy Swims’ “Lose Control,” which led the Hot 100 for a week in March 2024, and went on to become the year’s No. 1 song, slips 7-8 — as it adds a record-extending 108th week on the chart overall and a record-furthering 76th week in the top 10.Below HUNTR/X’s “How It’s Done,” which concurrently claims a ninth week at No. 1 on the Hot Dance/Pop Songs chart, Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars’ “Die With a Smile” rises 11-10, following five weeks at No. 1 beginning in January. It becomes just the fourth song to spend a milestone 50 weeks or more in the top 10, joining “Lose Control” (76; 2024-25), Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” (66; 2024-25) and The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights” (57; 2020-21).
September 7, 2025Sep 7 HOT 100 2.09.25 #48 THE TOP TEN: 10. Die With A Smile – Lady Gaga/Bruno Mars (Up 1/54 weeks in chart) 9. How It's Done – Huntr/X/Ejae/Audrey Nuna/Rei Ami (Up 1/NEW PEAK/9 weeks in chart) 8. Lose Control – Teddy Swims (Down 1/106 weeks in chart) 7. Manchild - Sabrina Carpenter (Up 7/12 weeks in the chart) 6. Love Me Not – Ravyn Lenae (No change/22 weeks in chart) 5. Soda Pop – Saja Boys (No change/9 weeks in chart) 4. Your Idol – Saja Boys (No change/10 weeks in chart) 3. What I Want – Morgan Wallen/Tate McRae (No change/15 weeks in chart) 2. Ordinary - Alex Warren (No change/29 weeks in chart) 1. Golden – Huntr/X/Ejae/Audrey Nuna/Rei Ami (No change/10 weeks in chart) NEW ENTRIES: 92. Holy Water – Marshmello/Jelly Roll (7.5/10) I'm as shocked as you that these two actually made something on this level! You remember Jelly Roll's feature on the Lil Wayne song? His verse on this is like that and adds this element of tone which builds more than basic, and Marshmello levelled up to that too! Both good and an interesting blend of the two styles, where they both got an equal amount of showcase. 91. Lover Girl - Laufey (6/10) Previous listen: Sounds a little too similar to some of her other music with the playful 60s-70s jazz sound. Despite that, it's still good. Added: Her vocals on this are very posh and fancy; it's a little annoying, but I can handle it on this. 88. Sacrifice – Mariah The Scientist (8/10) If you haven't already, you should give the full album a serious listen; every song has those dreamy R&B chords that are full of flavour, with this song doing the exact same as it makes you feel like you're on a cloud. Mariah's voice is also amazing for this. 82. Man I Need – Olivia Dean (5/10) I'm sorry, but I just can't with Olivia's music; it feels like she wants this fresh and captured-in-the-moment sound, but in reality it's one of the dullest takes on soul that we've seen this decade. The song does not convey warmth; it all just feels so dull from every angle. 73. Different Species - Offset/Gunna (7/10) Previous listen: After a 25-song Gunna album (with an Offset feature), of course we got another collaboration just a week later… because of course we all need that 💀. Anyway, as expected, the same uninspired drum trap beat flows across the rap genre, with it being used on this too. And the lyricism is careless sex lyrics… nothing worth checking out. Second listen: It grew on me; I'm starting to learn that despite songs sounding the same sometimes, you can learn the flow and like it more. As I did with this on Offset's full album listen. 61. Box Me Up – BigXthaPlug/Jelly Roll (8/10) On rap songs Jelly Roll keeps tending to deliver a verse in a separate tone, one that kind of fits his "Sharks" feature with Lil Wayne… It sounds more dark and mysterious, and with this, it actually works really well. Especially with the outro, it feels like an ascent to heaven... beautiful. 52. Ceremony – Stray Kids (8.1/10) Repeated loud talking and cheering as the main hook was something that's an interesting choice, but we're listening to Stray Kids, so of course they were going to put this with production elements you may hear in strictly only rap with drums on a high-octane song that sounds like you'd hear it in an underground rap competition with breakdancing that goes viral. 28. Jealous Type – Doja Cat (7/10) A summer synth sound with notes sounding like they could be part of an old gameshow's theme tune. And as much as this has that fast-paced and energetic rush that I can see people getting, I don't think it has enough of that for radio. I don't think this'll do well commercially, but who knows? I could be proved wrong. RE-ENTRIES: 98. Gnarly - KATSEYE [Are we serious right now?] 60. 12 To 12 - Sombr [Deserved a return!] NOTEABLE CHANGES: Songs that fell 10 spots or more: 96.
