Joe Root scores a wonderful century on day one, his first on Australian soil. Currently 128 not out.

England 9 for 315 nearing stumps.

I think this match will be over today before the lights come on. Australia's batting and bowling has been so much better than England's.

Gonna be at Day 3...would like them to ease up on the wickets tomorrow to allow that to happen 😅

That was a great innings by Joe Root after coming in at 5-2, he finally scores a Test century in Australia. We'll see, when Australia bat, how good England's score of 325-9 is.

Root was magnificent, he’s helped get England into a strong position.

I think England’s bowlers will do better than the Australian, bar maybe Starc. It’ll be down to how the Australian batters perform.

I can see Australia falling short of the 334.

Day 2 Dinner Break

Australia 228 for 3. They now trailer England by 106 runs.

Australia has played very well throughout the day, but it if England can get on top in the final night session of the day they could end the day in front.

Australia have wrestled back control late on Day 2. At stumps they are 378 for 6, 44 runs ahead of England.

The start to Day 3 will be crucial.

Enjoying this match. England absolutely will be kicking themselves with all the missed opportunities. Makes me feel less certain of the result even if Australia are definitely in control for now.

It just takes a good bowling spell from England at the start of today’s play and they’re right back in this.

Joe Root will need some help in the next session for England!

Absolutely, if they can get Australia out quickly and Root finds a batting partner it's very much a live test.

England can't afford to let Australia's lead blow out to 100-150+ runs.

I don't think the match will get into Day 5 unless England put on a decent partnership to start the day.

I think England will be bowled out about 50-100 runs in front and Australia will win by 7 wickets.
