Absolutely incredible! I knew she had it in her to go this far in a masters, but I didn’t think it’d be this soon after recovering from injury! Showing that she really is a force to be reckoned with when she often gets overlooked.

Sonay put your big girl shoes on!! This is such an opportunity for her! The only thing you need to beat Chwalinska is patience and consistency, her game only goes so far, and the one thing Sonay does above all is stay calm and patient.

Sadly not to be for Kartal as Chwalinska takes the title - 2-6 6-4 6-2

Gutted as I woke up after Kartal won the first set and tuned in at 3-2 on her serve, but from this point on she did play some amazing points which Chwalinska just kept putting back in the court and she didn’t stay patient enough. At the same time, Maja looked more powerful in her striking than I’d ever seen her so can’t take this away from her!

Really hoping that Sonay will take this week as a huge positive in her recovery, making her first 1000 final so soon after coming back is something that very few players could achieve and now she should know her capabilities and keep up the results!

That's a shame Sonay couldn't quite put her away, she was playing so well to be 6-2 2-0 up but in a big final, there's always going to be a comeback by the opponent. She was running out of energy in that final set. It's still been a great week for her.
