Sunday at 10:252 days The race thankfully more than made up for it.Lewis salvaging P3 after that Ferrari strategy "masterblan" was absolutely legendary stuff 💪Every 10 years, a wild Mercedes power unit fails.
Sunday at 10:502 days There's been nothing to suggest that the software fault was due to water but I guess the internet has decided already. It affected a number of cars and different power units and nothing similar has happened in any previous wet session. We should really be wondering if having cars too reliant and effectively controlled by computers is the right way to go.
Sunday at 11:022 days There hasn't even been any other wet sessions all year though has there? So this was the acid test. And tbh it's been going that way ever since you needed a computer to start the cars which was way back.Main takeaway from the race is Sepang needs to come back full time.
Sunday at 14:172 days Cars have run more than once in the wet this year. Bahrain wet test session back in Feb, Ferrari ran in the wet at Fiorano too. Might have been a practice session and a pit to grid lap somewhere as well i seem to remember (Miami?)The issue was because the cars were going slower than anticipated at turn 9, which has an output limit in place for safety reasons. This will effectively nullify the MGU-K putting into 'off' mode. When they entered turn 9 too slow there was no MGU-K to compensate for the lack of boost, so the software engaged a 60 second reset. A feature designed to prevent teams shutting it off deliberately. That's why they all had to input new software, with less of a power limit and why the restart took forever. The water itself did nothing but the software was incorrect for the circuit, specifically turn 9, and the conditions on the day.
