Lewis with a new PB for Ferrari is very pleasing! Dominated Charles all weekend too which is a rarity. The entire McLaren team left their brains in Woking apparently. And Kimi is very close to baggi

  • By ‘we’ does he mean him?!!! & Alonso is seconds up the road!

The race thankfully more than made up for it.

Lewis salvaging P3 after that Ferrari strategy "masterblan" was absolutely legendary stuff 💪

Every 10 years, a wild Mercedes power unit fails.

There's been nothing to suggest that the software fault was due to water but I guess the internet has decided already. It affected a number of cars and different power units and nothing similar has happened in any previous wet session.

We should really be wondering if having cars too reliant and effectively controlled by computers is the right way to go.

There hasn't even been any other wet sessions all year though has there? So this was the acid test.

And tbh it's been going that way ever since you needed a computer to start the cars which was way back.

Main takeaway from the race is Sepang needs to come back full time.

Cars have run more than once in the wet this year. Bahrain wet test session back in Feb, Ferrari ran in the wet at Fiorano too. Might have been a practice session and a pit to grid lap somewhere as well i seem to remember (Miami?)

The issue was because the cars were going slower than anticipated at turn 9, which has an output limit in place for safety reasons. This will effectively nullify the MGU-K putting into 'off' mode. When they entered turn 9 too slow there was no MGU-K to compensate for the lack of boost, so the software engaged a 60 second reset. A feature designed to prevent teams shutting it off deliberately.

That's why they all had to input new software, with less of a power limit and why the restart took forever.

The water itself did nothing but the software was incorrect for the circuit, specifically turn 9, and the conditions on the day.

Yeah we're on a slipperier slope then ever before now. Some cars getting random advantages over others, it's basically also impossible to tell which drivers are doing a good job. Next race there'll be an AI glitch which will start switching the cars off at random. Admittedly that'd be the only way left to make the title fight potentially interesting...

This has already happened this year, just not a race

Surprised Max didn't go for the Grand Slam at the end there.

Would've put him behind only Jim Clark inthe list.

Really not sure what the Ferrari strategists were thinking hanging Lewis out to dry like that. Should’ve putted him along with R Charles when the VSC came out but nevermind!

I guess hindsight is a wonderful thing 😂

This was on Lewis here, was his call to stick to the one stop. Was worth a go considering how impossible it seemed to overtake today but the soft tyres can only hold on so much. The fact he has such little faith in the Ferrari strategy team though speaks volumes and 9 times out of 10 his call would probably have worked.

Yeah Lewis was right off his game today.

Ignored the call to come in when it was the clear right choice. Burned through his tyres too much catching Leclerc who was managing his, then watched Leclerc gap him after claiming he was quicker.

Really weird choices he made today.
