Posted April 25Apr 25 https://www.instagram.com/misteeq/25 years since we had their debut album and the teasing has already begun with a new Instagram. I'm seriously hoping for some reissues of both albums, both of which I wish I still had on CD so will be getting those if they do happen.Whilst we're here and hyping them up, do you have a favourite single, album track or just general memory of the band? They really were something cool and different in a time, for UK music especially, where bubblegum pop was phasing out and the slicker side of music started to come through. The way they blended the likes of garage and hip-hop with contemporary pop music was nothing short of brilliant. My favourite tracks are Why?, B With Me, Scandalous, All I Want and One Night Stand. Eye Candy had some really great album tracks too with the likes of Just For You (Su-Elise vocal rarity!), Nitro and That's Just Not Me.

April 26Apr 26 One Night Stand was my introduction to Mis-Teeq and 24 years on it still remains my favourite song from them.
May 2May 2 They came about at a time when everyone seemed to be jumping on the UK Garage bandwagon. I was into UK Garage when it was still underground and didn't like the overcommercialisation of it, but did concede that Mis-Teeq were actually quite good. I think "All I Want" is by far their best single and I bought the "Lickin On Both Sides" album though admittedly I didn't listen to it much. When they came back with "Scandalous" UK Garage was dead but I thought it was a decent R&B effort. Didn't think much of the remaining singles though and when they did call it a day I thought they'd run out of steam.

I know a lot of it had to do with their record label going bust, I think the stress of that situation got too much for them and they just threw in the towel and went their separate ways.

I get the impression they've been successful outside of music post Mis-Teeq for it to not really matter.

That said, Scandalous was a huge hit and gave them their first US chart entry so might’ve been enough to launch a third era successfully. 🤔

I could've seen them going in the more R'n'B/Dance direction.
Monday at 21:531 day Today marks 17 years since Alesha released "Let's Get Excited" as a single. It's such a bop. Deserved to be top 10.

21 hours ago21 hr Author The insta feels more like a fan page?? I blame the OCC for making a whole story on it 😅Nonetheless, I do hope something official surfaces soon for a celebration of sorts.
21 hours ago21 hr Alesha’s solo career is so underrated tbh. All her singles (bar the last) from 2006-2009 were solid slices of pop imo but she really fumbled on two counts:To Love Again - no one asked for a Gary Barlow-penned ballad from her… or anybody for that matter. Her strengths were always in up-tempos. Drummer Boy - verges on unlistenable. No redeeming features whatsoever. 😭 There was no recovery option at this point lol.
20 hours ago20 hr I love 'Drummer Boy', but in hindsight it probably wasn't an ideal way to lead her second (technically third) album campaign...'Baddest Chick' might have been a better choice.
