• First #1 hit for American boyband The Runarounds, made up of (left to right in the above picture): Jeremy Yun (lead guitar), William Lipton (lead vocals and guitar), Axel Ellis (lead vocals and guitar), Zendé Murdock (drums) and Jesse Golliher (vocals and bass guitar), though Jeremy has since departed the group, and music in general, to focus on his studies.

• The Runarounds were formed by Outer Banks creator Jonas Pate with their own TV show in mind, which launched on Amazon Prime last year. Despite the fictional show, they are a real band outside of the show, and their TV show features their own original music.

• All of The Runarounds' charting songs this week, other than Bleachers and Chasing the Good Times, feature on the TV show soundtrack. Arrhythmia (I Hope You Stay), however, is charting mostly off the back of the main version released independently of the soundtrack version.

• The Runarounds are the second artist of the year to make their chart debut at #1 in both the singles and albums charts, following Cavetown. Before that, glaive was the most recent to achieve this, back in 2022.

• Axel is the band's frontman and provides lead vocals on all songs, and remains an active member of both groups.

• Hotel Room is taken from the band's debut album So Much to Tell You, which remains at #2 in my album chart, giving him the top 2 albums across both of his bands! I believe Axel is only the second person ever to achieve this, following Greyson Chance in 2019.

• Three other songs from So Much to Tell You are charting this week, including the week's highest climber in 7x9, up 36-13, as well as Blurry Lights, which provides the first hit for Albert Hammond Jr.

don't know many of your new entries, but Ariana's new song is quite good. Not so much into Bebe's new collab with David.

Loving Ariana here. Hate that I made you love me is not her absolute best obviously but it's very reminiscent of we can't be friends, I think? Either way I love that she's still leaning into this sound. She's at her best then usually.

I'm quite sad to see this run for in your girl right but again, as much as I love this one from her it's very playing it safe for Tove lo.
