So We’re officially halfway through 2026, and instead of getting bogged down in the weekly chart movements, I want to zoom out. Let’s look at the absolute wild ride that has been my listening history over the last six months, check in on my total scrobble counts,

Here is the true story of my 2026 so far:

The Winter of Dave The year started with an absolute iron grip by Dave. His track "Raindance (feat. Tems)" was the undeniable anthem of my early 2026, sitting comfortably at Number One for most of January and February. Because of this massive early-year reign, "Raindance" is currently the undisputed #1 song of the year with a staggering 632 scrobbles, leading the pack by nearly 150 plays.

The Unprecedented Michael Jackson Spring Hijack If Dave owned the winter, Michael Jackson completely broke the record books in the spring. I went through an MJ phase that genuinely warped the fabric of my personal charts. "Billie Jean" became a juggernaut, logging 6 consecutive weeks at Number One, rocketing it to my #4 most-played song of the year so far with 346 scrobbles.

But it wasn't just "Billie Jean. Look at the sheer insanity of Week 70—MJ and The Jackson 5 collectively locked out the entire Top 12 positions on my chart, holding #1 down to #12 all at the same time. Between "The Girl Is Mine", "Thriller", "Beat It", and "Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'". He then perfectly executed the "Replacing Yourself at Number One" record when "The Girl Is Mine" knocked "Billie Jean" off the top spot the following week.

The Undisputed Queen of Consistency: Olivia Dean While other artists have had volatile, flashy spikes, Olivia Dean has been the main character of my everyday listening. Just look at her mid-year footprint:

  • "So Easy (To Fall In Love)" is my #2 track of the year (484 scrobbles).

  • "Rein Me In" (with Sam Fender) is at #8 (226 scrobbles).

  • "Nice To Each Other" is at #10 (208 scrobbles).

  • She also has "I've Seen It" (#24), "A Couple Minutes" (#44), and "Man I Need" (#59) floating in the master list.

She is the definition of chart longevity and depth this year so far.

(Side note: Bruno Mars is running a close second for career footprint, placing an incredible six different tracks inside my Top 50 for the year, including "I Just Might" at #7 and "Dance With Me" at #13).

The Summer Shift: Football Fever Takes Over As we officially close out the first six months and head into June (Week 77), the story has completely shifted yet again. With tournament season in full swing, my listening has pivoted hard into football anthems. Shakira's "Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)" just surged to Number One, and Baddiel, Skinner & Lightning Seeds' "Three Lions (Football's Coming Home)" rocketed to #3.

Shakira was already having a great year—her track "Zoo" is my #5 most-played song of the year with 338 scrobbles—but this summer momentum could easily push her to the top of my artist ranks.

Mid-Year Top 5 Recap:

  1. Dave – "Raindance (feat. Tems)" (632 Scrobbles)

  2. Olivia Dean – "So Easy (To Fall In Love)" (484 Scrobbles)

  3. Bella Kay – "iloveitiloveitiloveit" (443 Scrobbles) (A massive track that also got two #1 weeks in March!)

  4. Michael Jackson – "Billie Jean" (346 Scrobbles)

  5. Shakira – "Zoo" (338 Scrobbles)

We'll see if Dave's early-year lead can survive Olivia Dean's relentless consistency and Shakira's summer anthem takeover as we head into the back half of 2026!
