12th July 2026

It's two weeks on top for Rose Gray and the fabulous Club To Your Arms, as Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick & Tich rise to 6 with their 1967 fave Zabadak! That was pre-personal-chart but had I been scribbing my fave songs in a notebook Zabadak would have topped my charts. No actual lyrics, it's purely melody, harmonies, production and emotion from vocals with no real meaning. As an exercise in what they can do, it worked pretty well for this 9-year-old. Alan Walker rises to 4 and his 7th top 5 track since number one Faded first did it in 2016. In a good week for DJ producers Robin Schulz is up to a Coldplay-sampling 6 with Better Times, a second top 10 on from 2020's number one In Your Eyes, and 12 years from debut Prayer In C, and HUGEL is up to 7 with the insistent Movin' To The Sun, his second, and Ultra Nate's 4th top 10. Imael Angel, meanwhile gets a second chart hit with highest new entry I'm Alive at 53, all solo this time.

Alabama Shakes have never charted before, but lead singer Brittany Howard lended vocals to Miley Cyrus' chart-topper Walk Of Fame last year, and now the band debut with the rather nice I Feel Hope Coming. Don't we all. Calvin Hayes, formerly of Johnny Hates Jazz, passed away this week and the fab Shattered Dreams returns at 70 in tribute, still their best record and 1987 debut hit. We also lost the loveable Bonnie Tyler last week after she'd been taken ill 2 months ago in Portugal. I have charted her classic Total Eclipse Of The Heart three times already so have opted for her 50th anniversary debut hit Lost In France in at 97, and her first pop-vocal-op hit It's A Heartache from 1978, showing the change to a gruffer vocal sound. New at 87 and second-time round for both former top 10's.

Jungle drop one spot with The Wave at 3, but also enter their new track and video Someday, Somewhere with the melodic laid-back dance vibes in at 72. Lower down at 84 Kygo returns with Take Me Back, his 17th chart entry in 11 years, while Madonna's Confessions II album brings another track to the chart - the 5th in the top 100 and 6th in total, and her 7th of 2026. Not bad for a soon-to-be 68-year-old - in Bizarre, a collab with Martin Garrix. I've lost count of Madge's chart entries but it's well over 100 in 42 years, while Martin Garrix is on a more modest 10 since debut chart-topper Animals in 2013. sombr can't stop dropping new tracks, at a cracking pace, and new song My Body Isn't Ready sneaks in at 88 for his 7th chart entry.

Olivia Rodrigo makes a hat-trick on the chart as Stupid Song debuts at 89 to join Honeybee at 28, The Cure at 54, and replacing drop dead in my over-stuffed chart. Howard Jones had a string of hits from 1983 through the 80's and had occasional returns in the 90's, 2016 and 2022. 4 years on his latest song Stand Up hits the synths for a 17th chart entry. Who had Kylie doing a collab with Snow Patrol? No, me neither, but there you go, new at 95 it's These Alarms - Kylie's second of the year, and she must be closing in Madonna's total of chart entries, as she is also well over 100 in total since 1988. Snow Patrol are on 13, and their first in 7 years. Their chart span is 22 years now.

That leaves just Inspiral Carpets getting a swift second chart entry of the year at 100 with There's A Better Way, and U2 ditto on the rather good Street Of Dreams at 96, presumably no longer being Streets with no name. It's 45 years since they debuted with the punkish Fire in my charts.

Hi John,

Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick & Tich had quite some hits in the middle of the 60's - need to listen to some more 60's - did not have that much as I should this year - looking forward to the next NOW 65/66 (unfortunately no yearbook for each of the years), which came out last week and features "Hold Tight" and "Bend It" from them.

Two great songs from Bonnie - both not as overplayed as her biggest hit. RIP Bonnie.

Hey John!

Excellent compilation! Amazed to see my favs here:

CLUB TO YOUR ARMS - Rose Gray - Nice track! Her latest album is absolute masterpiece!😇 (3 bangers from it this week on my chart) 🤘🤓

TANGERINE - Damiano David - Great to see it in your Top 5! I believe it's capable to get even higher😉 (peaked at #3 on my chart)😊

CHUCK THE MONEY - Stephen Sanchez - Love this guy, been to his concert in May - super romantic personality and strong vocalist!🫡

CAN'T SIT STILL - Lainey Wilson - Amazing song! Great country Diva!❣️

Hey John!

Amazing, obviously, to see club to your arms at #1. Definitely do listen to her new one. It's perfectly just as good.

A good climb for fate. It's such a bizzare sample but it works so well.

More more more will be on its way out after tomorrow's chart for me. It's just too fast paced I think? I dunno if that's the right word. Unrelenting would be a better one maybe.

Potential is great. Hopefully it can continue to climb. Did this one make the official chart?

Oh and actual quite large climb for the cure. That's amazing. Hopefully this continues to grow on you.

Dancing without you is a bop. Similar to hypnotized i feel but nowhere near as good.

I'm so happy to see my body ain't ready enter. I'm hoping last week's official position is just a blip and it climbs to a new peak this week.

I'm hoping to see Jessie wares new one and rose Gray's new one enter next week please and thank you!

Fab chart ♥️

H Da Tilt! 🙂

Thanks for the comments! I didnt know Now had been doing 60's editions, I must have a look, esp if they have Dave Dee and co on it twice. Bend It is still one I havent got round to charting, and that was also a lot of fun to this little kiddie of about 8 years old at the time 😄Their songwriter/producers Howard/Blaikley liked to try different sounds and genres, experimenting with pop after the fashion of The Beatles, but not quite so serious and innovative.

Poor Bonnie, she was a lovely person 👍

cheers! 😎

Hey Bgoood! 🙂

Thanks for dropping in and picking some faves and commenting! 🤩I agree about Rose Gray, why on earth she's not huge is a complete mystery, she knocks out banger after banger and gets no hits, sometimes there's no justice in pop! 🥺Ooh Tangerine hitting 3, that's a good run, love those throwback twangy guitar vibes. I bet Stephen Sanchez was great in concert he can really hit those notes, with quite the vocal range, proper classy singer. If he ever tours down the south of the UK area I will grab tickets! Actually I'd go and see Rose Gray and Damiano David too 😄Lainey Wilson has Country attitude, and that's a great song. me and my nephew were singing along to it at the family garden BarBQ the other saturday, hooray!

Cheers! 😎

Hi John,

💯%! No justice in a pop world! But I do hope you get the chance to attend one of Rose and Damiano's gigs soon!😉

Hey James! 🙂

Thanks for the picks and comments👍, unrelenting is a good word for More More More, one needs to be in the right mood for it, it's quite shouty! 😄Potential was a quick hit for sombr, popped in and popped out but hasnt stuck around like his bigger ones. It's nice though anyway. My Body Isn't Ready has had an even briefer chart run sadly! The Cure still growing on me week on week, it's the build to the end that makes it. 👍Dancing Without You has been picked up by Radio 2 and works pretty well there, upbeat and summer-vibes jollity to help stop listeners switching channels. Becky Hill would have everyone diving for the local radio station I fear 😄

I have played Sauna twice, and I like it, but my chart needs a clear-out before I buy it. I think Rose Gray will chart one or other any week now 😄

cheers!😎
