January 30, 200718 yr Author Yeah, i dug up the Taking Back Sunday thread :P btw, Echo & The Bunnymen fan? Edited January 30, 200718 yr by This Charming Man
January 30, 200718 yr Yeah, i dug up the Taking Back Sunday thread :P btw, Echo & The Bunnymen fan? Echo and the Bunnymen..? Oh, absolutely... I'm surprised that as a Smiths fan you dont totally hate the whole "Emo" thing... I've lost count of the number of these bloody Emo bands who go around name-dropping the likes of Moz, Robert Smith, etc just cos it's 'cool' to do so, but clearly have no real understanding of the music of either of them, otherwise their own music wouldn't sound like totally weak, whiny bollocks with absolutely no emotion behind it (hmm, kinda ironic given that they're called "emo" really...).... <_<
January 30, 200718 yr Author Love Echo & The Bunnymen :D i said i only liked 2 or 3 of TBS's songs :P
January 30, 200718 yr Love Echo & The Bunnymen :D i said i only liked 2 or 3 of TBS's songs :P To the first part - Clearly a man of taste To the second - I wasn't really targeting Taking Back Sunday in particular, my comments were more directed to the Emo Scene as a whole... It really is a pretty wretched excuse for a music scene, I dont really see anything to get excited by tbh... And I dont reckon it's because I'm 'too old to get it', with most things I can actually see something that could attract people even if I'm not into it a lot of it myself (such as Nu Metal, Britpop, the New Wave of Britpop around just now), but with Emo..? I'm really seeing nothing, nada, nichts, rien.....
January 30, 200718 yr And I dont reckon it's because I'm 'too old to get it', [/i] No it's not because I don't like it either (except MCR but thats it. I don't consider them emo anyway)
January 30, 200718 yr Author I don't know which bands come under ''emo'' but i perfer it to screamo and slipknot kind of bands, sorry Lucy
January 30, 200718 yr I don't know which bands come under ''emo'' but i perfer it to screamo and slipknot kind of bands, sorry Lucy Dont say 'screamo and slipknot kind of bands' because they're not screamo.
January 30, 200718 yr Author I don't know any screamo bands, but i felt that Slipknot covered whatever genre they come under
January 30, 200718 yr No they don't. I would've thought emo/screamo was more similar. Slipknot are metal (first album was Nu-metal).
January 30, 200718 yr The lead singer can sing. You can't just sum it up as 'screamo'. I'm not a Korn fan so I wouldn't know...
January 30, 200718 yr But so do most metal bands? So they're all 'screamo' are they?? I'm not gonna argue about it anyway, it's pointless.
January 30, 200718 yr Author i'm not arguing lol i'm just saying i don't like music where they scream :P not saying it's screamo
January 30, 200718 yr i'm not arguing lol i'm just saying i don't like music where they scream :P not saying it's screamo Ok. I dont either, if you listened to some actual screamo bands then Slipknot you'd see a big difference.
January 30, 200718 yr Author Indeed i probably would. I'm not insulting your music taste, btw. I like how peoples music tastes vary. It's a big shame that 99% of people on here like pop, though.
January 30, 200718 yr Although, it has to be said, Metal/Punk is being infested with LOT of sh!t 'Emo' threads.... <_< I agree with you Scott but sadley without them this forum would be dead, people want mainstream $h!t, they couldn't give a f*** about NIN, Anthrax, Iron Maiden, Sabbath and every other band that can defy the genres.
January 30, 200718 yr are NIN's from Manchester? i think they're American but i'm not a fan so i don't know for sure.
