Ella Langley’s ‘Choosin’ Texas’ No. 1 on Hot 100 for 17th Week, Ariana Grande Has Two in Top 5

By Gary Trust | 8/10/2026

Ella Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas” tallies a 17th week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, solely claiming the fourth-longest command in the chart’s history. The single first led the list in February.

Here’s an updated look at the longest-leading hits, ranked by most weeks at No. 1, over the Hot 100’s archives, which date to August 1958:

22 weeks, “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” Mariah Carey, 2019-26

19, “A Bar Song (Tipsy),” Shaboozey, 2024

19, “Old Town Road,” Lil Nas X feat. Billy Ray Cyrus, 2019

17, “Choosin’ Texas,” Ella Langley, 2026

16, “Last Night,” Morgan Wallen, 2023

16, “Despacito,” Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee feat. Justin Bieber, 2017

16, “One Sweet Day,” Mariah Carey & Boyz II Men, 1995-96

Meanwhile, Ariana Grande has two songs in the Hot 100’s top five from her new album, petal, which launches as her seventh No. 1 on the Billboard 200. “Hate That I Made You Love Me” rebounds 8-2, after it led in its debut week in May, and the set’s title track debuts at No. 4.

“Choosin’ Texas,” on SAWGOD/Columbia Records, with Triple Tigers having promoted it to country radio, totaled 24.9 million official streams (down 2% week over week), 54.5 million radio airplay audience impressions (up 4%, thanks in part to it reaching the top 10 on Pop Airplay) and 9,000 sold (up 9%) in the United States July 31-Aug. 6.

Langley’s first Hot 100 leader rises a spot for a 17th week at No. 1 on Streaming Songs; holds at No. 6, after reaching No. 4, on Radio Songs; and climbs two places for a 14th week at No. 1 on Digital Song Sales.

“Choosin’ Texas” also dominates the multimetric Hot Country Songs chart for a 35th week, solely marking the third-longest reign in the chart’s history, as it breaks out of a tie with Sam Hunt’s “Body Like a Back Road,” from 2017; it trails only Bebe Rexha and Florida Georgia Line’s “Meant To Be” (50 weeks, 2017-18) and Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” (45 weeks, 2024-25).

Plus (and just before the end of the dog days of summer), “Choosin’ Texas” laps up a 10th week at No. 1 on the Songs of the Summer chart.

With “Choosin’ Texas” at No. 1 on the Hot 100 and Langley and Morgan Wallen’s “I Can’t Love You Anymore” newly No. 1 on Country Airplay, Langley becomes just the third artist, and first woman, to top the two charts simultaneously with different songs (since the latter began in January 1990).

Here’s a recap of the rare feat, which has twice involved Wallen:

Ella Langley: “Choosin’ Texas,” No. 1 on Hot 100 / “I Can’t Love You Anymore,” with Morgan Wallen, No. 1 on Country Airplay, Aug. 15, 2026

Morgan Wallen: “What I Want,” feat. Tate McRae, Hot 100 / “I’m the Problem,” Country Airplay, May 31, 2025

Lonestar: “Amazed,” Hot 100 / “Smile,” Country Airplay, March 11, 2000

Langley’s achievement is similar to Lonestar’s in that both “Choosin’ Texas” and “Amazed” were first worked to country radio before adding pop play, with both acts then moving on to subsequent singles at country. Wallen and McRae’s song debuted atop the Hot 100, and was promoted to pop formats, while the title cut from his 2025 album was then his focus country radio hit.

Ariana Grande’s “Hate That I Made You Love Me” surges 8-2 on the Hot 100, after it ruled in its first week in May, and her new set’s title cut debuts at No. 4, powered by 17.9 million streams, 3.8 million in radio reach and 6,000 sold in its first week, following the album’s July 31 release. The latter song’s gory official video premiered the same day.

Grande ups her career total to a milestone 25 Hot 100 top 10s, becoming the 14th artist with at least that many.

Most Billboard Hot 100 Top 10s:

90, Drake

70, Taylor Swift

38, Madonna

35, The Beatles

32, Rihanna

30, Michael Jackson

29, Elton John

28, Mariah Carey

28, Stevie Wonder

27, Justin Bieber

27, Janet Jackson

26, Lil Wayne

25, Ariana Grande

25, Elvis Presley (whose career start predated the Hot 100’s inception)

With petal’s tracklist official upon the set’s release — and retroactive to the Hot 100 entrance of “Hate That I Made You Love Me” — Grande extends an unprecedented streak: She has now debuted the first single from each of her eight proper studio albums in the chart’s top 10.

Album, Lead single, Hot 100 debut/peak, Year:

petal, “Hate That I Made You Love Me,” No. 1, 2026

Eternal Sunshine, “Yes, And?,” No. 1, 2024

Positions, “Positions,” No. 1, 2020

Thank U, Next, “Thank U, Next,” No. 1, 2018

Sweetener, “No Tears Left To Cry,” No. 3, 2018

Dangerous Woman, “Dangerous Woman,” No. 10/8, 2016

My Everything, “Problem,” feat. Iggy Azalea, No. 3/2, 2014

Yours Truly, “The Way,” feat. Mac Miller, No. 10/9, 2013

Elsewhere in the Hot 100’s top 10, Wallen’s “Been by Now” drops 2-3 in its second week on the chart.

Taylor Swift’s “I Knew It, I Knew You” descends 3-5, after it spent its first two weeks on the Hot 100 at No. 1 in June.

Stella Lefty’s “Boston” backtracks 5-6 on the Hot 100, after reaching No. 3.

Wallen and Langley’s “I Can’t Love You Anymore” falls to No. 7 from its No. 4 Hot 100 high.

“Dracula” by Tame Impala and JENNIE dips 6-8 after reaching No. 5 on the Hot 100. It tops the multimetric Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart for a 31st week and Hot Rock & Alternative Songs for a 13th week.

Olivia Dean’s “So Easy (To Fall in Love)” slides 7-9 on the Hot 100, after hitting No. 5.

Plus, Langley’s “Be Her” is down 9-10 on the Hot 100, after reaching No. 2.
