Sixth studio album out 22nd January 2027! 11 years in the making, inspired significantly by Kate's Irish heritage:

My 6th studio album Cailín is out January 22nd. This album has been in the works for 11 years.

The decision to make it came from realising that the tin whistle was my first instrument and traditional Irish music was my first experience of live music. I’d never explored my heritage through my artistry before, and there was such a rich tapestry within it, the music, mythology, politics and my roots.

It took me a while to find someone who understood what I wanted to make. I found that person in KoOoLkOjAk, who recognised what this record could be back in 2015, when people in LA looked at me like I was mad for bringing a tin whistle to a recording session.

I can say hand on heart I’ve never worked harder on anything. This is the most important record I’ve made in my life. Every stone has been turned over, songwriting, recording, mixing, mastering, artwork. Making it has helped me understand more about who I am and where I come from, but it feels like only the beginning.

The elements & the faeries have guided me every step of the way. The night before recording, our location flooded under 6ft of water. I knew we weren’t meant to be there. Our engineer Liam King suggested Stiúideo Cuan in Spiddal, owned by the prolific Charlie Lennon.

That week became one of the best of my life. Every morning we walked along the Wild Atlantic Way to a frosty sunrise. Each day musicians came into the studio and blew me away, including my own band, who I’d never had the opportunity to make a whole album with, and my mother and her cousin, who put down some very out of tune, very important vocals.

I’ll always be grateful to Charlie & Síle’s family and their legacy for embracing us with such warmth. Spiddal is a second home to me and Cuan my favourite place to record.

This is for my granny, Maureen Walsh, who was my best friend, and Roger, who I never met but am often told I’m very much like.

GRMA to everyone who made this possible. What’s for you shall not pass you.

Pre-save Cailín now.

New single Spilt Milk is out now and it's a banger cheeseblock

The album will also feature her cover version of Sinéad O'Connor's Famine:
