Posted January 31, 200718 yr http://chronicmagazine.com/uploaded_images/1169675421_brandy.jpg It has been reported that R&B star Brandy was invovled in a fatal car crash on December 30th 2006, and at the time told a witness that it was her fault. According to police, she was driving her 2007 Land Rover at 65 mph on the 405 freeway when she rear ended a 2005 Toyota. The Toyota then hit a 1989 Toyota. The 2005 Toyota then slid sideways and hit the center divider. As the 2005 Toyota came to a stop, it was hit by a 1988 Acura. Brandy's publicist Courtney Barnes made the following statement: "Brandy was involved in a car accident December 30, 2006 in Los Angeles where there was a fatality. She wishes to publicly express her condolences to the family of the deceased. Brandy asks that you respect the privacy of everyone involved at this time." Awatef Aboudihaj, the driver of the 2005 Toyota, was taken to Holy Cross Hospital in critical condition and dies the next day. No arrests have been made, and drugs and alcohol haven't been determined as a factor in the deadly incident. Police are conducting a mechanical investigation though, to make sure none of the cars had a technical malfunction at the time. According to the man driving behind Brandy during the accident, the singer blamed herself. He said, "She got upset, talking about how it was all her fault ... she didn't stop, kept saying how she hit the lady." He added, "Brandy walked in front of traffic, crossing the lanes of speeding cars, then she did it again. People were honking at her to get out of the road. She was obviously disoriented and highly upset." Edited January 31, 200718 yr by Dino
January 31, 200718 yr Author http://www.earthtimes.org/newsimage/car_crash_25017.jpg Brandy sued for $50 million in fatal crash LOS ANGELES -- The parents of a woman killed in a freeway crash involving Brandy sued the actress-singer for $50 million Tuesday. The wrongful-death suit claims Brandy was driving recklessly when her Land Rover struck the back of a Honda driven by Awatef Aboudihaj, 38, "The Insider" first reported. "The accident was a terrible tragedy, and Brandy's heart goes out to Awatef Aboudihaj's family," spokesman Allan Mayer said in a statement. "But for legal reasons we cannot comment on this lawsuit." The suit was filed on behalf of Aboudihaj Ahmed and Labridi Zohra in Los Angeles Superior Court. It comes a day after the California Highway Patrol recommended Brandy be charged with misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter in the Dec. 30 accident. The city attorney's office is reviewing the case. Brandy, whose real name is Brandy Norwood, has publicly expressed condolences to the victim's family. Brandy, 27, was driving on Dec. 30 when traffic slowed and her vehicle hit Aboudihaj's, a CHP report said. Aboudihaj's car hit another vehicle, slid sideways into the center divider and was then hit by another car, the report said. Aboudihaj, a Los Angeles waitress, died at a hospital from blunt-force injuries, according to the coroner's office. Brandy, who earned a Grammy in 1999, has made five albums. She began her recording career at 14 and acted for film and television, starring on the sitcom "Moesha" from 1996-2001 and most recently as a judge for NBC's "America's Got Talent."
