Posted February 3, 200718 yr New swing album for Robbie this summer http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/sheetmusic/rob1.jpg Saturday, February 3 2007, 14:31 GMT DIGITAL SPY By Daniel Kilkelly Robbie Williams is to release a new swing album by the end of the summer. Executives at the singer's record label EMI are worried after his recent Rudebox album failed to live up to expectations and divided fans. They hope that the new album will turn around Robbie's fortunes and help him to win back his reputation. A source told the Daily Star: "Rudebox has failed to match the sales of any of Robbie's previous albums and a lot of people are very worried. There's a swing album in the can and the top brass want it in the shops as soon as possible. "Staff at the label have a lot of affection for Rudebox. But the public hasn't. Everyone's confident that another collection of swing songs will re-connect him to his fanbase
February 3, 200718 yr BOOOO! :arrr: Executives at the singer's record label EMI are worried after his recent Rudebox album failed to live up to expectations and divided fans Bullshit -_-
February 3, 200718 yr Author I am severly displeased about this. :smoke: We all knew he has to released another Swing album since it's part of his contract however, releasing it this SUMMER is utterly ridiculous. It is almost as if they want low sales. Personally I don't think the album should be released at all. He has been there and done it and since then it has been done to death by so many others. However, since it must be released, the perfect time id say clearly Xmas. It would sell hugely at Xmas. However, in the summer, a covers album, that may not even have a single off it and probebly won't get any promo is just plain silly. But then again this is EMI we are talking about. God, I wish he was signed to a record company who knew what they were doing and actually had a goal to make as much money as possible. I doubt Robbie even wants to release this. The vast majority of the best Swing songs has already been done by him anyway. :(
February 3, 200718 yr It's strange as you was just saying to me about how Rudebox was released in about 12 months after Intensive Care, and now this!
February 3, 200718 yr Author It's strange as you was just saying to me about how Rudebox was released in about 12 months after Intensive Care, and now this! Yep. Would'nt you think EMI would want to wait a while to ensure high sales. I mean it's probebly the last album Rob will do with EMI so surely they would want to make as much money off it as possible  It's like they deliberatly do the opposide of what any normal record company would do <_< I know I should be pleased about a new Robbie album so soon, but I am not. I loved the Swing album, but this whole idea just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. And the fact that he has already done most of the biggest Swing song already. I would however, Love for him to do a studio version of "My Way". He performed it so brilliatnly at the RAH  qxc1E11yhik

February 3, 200718 yr If Robbie has to release a second Swing album, then it's release should wait until November (about six week's to Xmas) to maximise sales potential, to release it at any other time would be stupid in my view.

Agree 100%. And you'd think EMI would know this. But oh no. I would'nt be suprised if he released ANOTHER album at Xmas as well. he did say he would have two albums out this year.
February 3, 200718 yr Author Thats surprisingly, VERY good! Yep. Did you watch it all? The second half and the end are amazing. I remember even being suprised when I watched it. His voice is ALOT better when doing Swing for whatever reason
February 3, 200718 yr A swing album and a swing image in summer time  Is actually a silly idea, Summer will be the time of the anthems of the year, not bloody Swing  Thats more (like someone said) xmas stuff
February 3, 200718 yr  I don't see the problem People still buy albums during the summer, wasn't there another album also that he had to do to fulfil his contract, perhaps they are leaving that one to be released prior to christmas  Edited February 3, 200718 yr by sparkle

But oh no. I would'nt be suprised if he released ANOTHER album at Xmas as well. he did say he would have two albums out this year. Well if U2 can release two Best Of's 4 years apart, the maybe Robbie can release two 3 years apart...
February 3, 200718 yr I love the Swing album! And I can't wait for another one, but it's a bit too early and bad timing... As you all said, the best time would be Christmas. Though I wouldn't mind getting it for my birthday (summer) either :D
February 3, 200718 yr Author  I don't see the problem People still buy albums during the summer, wasn't there another album also that he had to do to fulfil his contract, perhaps they are leaving that one to be released prior to christmas  It will sell very little at summertime though Sparkle. At Xmas, it will please all the housewives and sell hugely. But in the summer it would just give everyone more of an exuse to slag him off, as I doubt it would sell well. Besides sales, the whole Swing thing is just silly. He has already done a covers album (which is what Swing is at the end of the day). He's not bloody Westlife. As for the other album. I think it would be madness to release three albums in twelve months. Only people like Daniel O'Donnell do that  I don't see how he does have another album with EMI left. It was a 6 album deal as far as I know. 4 studio albums and two compilations. The 4 studio are obviously: Escapology, IC, Rudebox and this Swing album Compilations are : GH and Knebworth. But who knows
February 3, 200718 yr Author Well if U2 can release two Best Of's 4 years apart, the maybe Robbie can release two 3 years apart... Well it will be an album of songs he has'nt recorded before so not realling a best of. However it's will be three albums in one single year. He really does'nt care about sales anymore.
February 3, 200718 yr Author The good thing that may come out of his is, he might do another one off Swing show :o He did say at the Abby Road gig in 2003 that he would be doing a little Swing tour. Would'nt that be amazing :cheer:
February 3, 200718 yr The press article does say 'End of Summer' so as it came from the Star then maybe their end of summer is November. lol I think that EMI have to take particular notice of what new album releases are about when Robbie releases anything, whether it be 'Swing' or original material, the way the UK are about Robbie they cannot release another album on his name like they did with Rudebox and live in hope. I honestly cannot understand this 'downer' on Rudebox with the fans, the Tesco or Sainsbury shoppers lol or with the press and thank you Victoria Newton for putting Robbie in the mire, Rudebox is a good album, perhaps it is just down to being ten years in the spotlight. It would be great to have another concert though. How about Wembley?
