Now... back to the Swing....I really dont know if its a good idea for Rob to bring out anything this year......not good at all.... The press are crucifying anything that he is doing at the moment including Only One I know from Mark Ronson's Album.. I got it today ... its' a really good album... & Rob's track ir realy great on it & fits in very well with the rest of the tracks on the album... The website are already criticising it.....

The way things are going for Rob in the UK at the moment you would wonder why he would even bother coming back there again to perform.. I think its despicable the way he is being treated.....

I am glad that Mark did stick with Rob as it would have been so easy for him to go with the currect trend to S**T on everything that Rob is associated with.As Mark says himself Rob sometimes likes the Obscure tracks that are not often mainstream. Given time I think Rob will come back with another great album...what kind of album is another question... will it be one to suit the middle of the road fans... I have a sneaking suspicion that it will whatever Rob himself wants & not necessarily the fans... If Rob gets something in his head, he goes for it & that's it....Its gonna be interesting .... What do you guys think........

Ive' seen them several times & I must say that they are awsome creatures with BIG BIG teeth & everyone knows that they bite. My brother lives in Australia & he told me that they have signs up in certain places telling people not to go into creeks , etc & what do peope do... they think the sign is for someone else & go in & what happens... I am quite shocked, or maybe not, that critics are slagging off Robbie's song on Versions, the reviews I have read have said the whole album is brilliant with not a duff track amongst them.

 

BUT

 

I do not like this song and I am really not too sure about the direction Robbie is taking himself again. Okay we are all different with different tastes and I know not many will agree with me, but whatever you think or say, I would not have been a Robbie fan without all those stadium anthems, rock and ballad..that was his magic and he is turning away from it. That I believe is a big mistake.

 

There is no magic in this song vocally, and anyone could be singing it, I can see this track joining Rudebox (single) while I listen and enjoy all the songs from IC.

But The Only One I know is only one song and its not even on his own album. Plus, I was under the impression that he recorded it a long time ago, during the same time he was doing Rudebox so I can see him doing this song as it was in the direction he was in at the time. We don't know what direction he's going in on his next original album and if we know anything about Rob its that he doesn't repeat himself. I'm certain it will not be anything like Rudebox or IC.

 

As for the swing, he's got to put a different spin on it as the old standards have been done to death since swing 1 but I sincerely hope Mr. Diddy is nowhere to be seen :cry:
