Robbie Williams Launches Swing Show In Las Vegas

ROBBIE WILLIAMS has made good on his recent promise to leave Britain for a while - he is reportedly launching a live swing show in Las Vegas this year.

Williams' spectacular showcase gig will be based on his best selling covers album SWING WHEN YOU'RE WINNING - according to British newspaper The Sun.

After the ANGEL singer's recent experimental album RUDEBOX was a critical and commercial failure in his native country, he vowed late last year to take some time off.

He said, "I've enjoyed tremendous success for over ten years now - far more than I should have or I ever would have dreamed I'd have. And now it's the time for Robbie to go away in people's minds. I think it's time to not be in Britain for a bit."

ITV have a bloody stupid story, with the headline, "Robbie runs to Vegas after Rudebox flop"

They say it flopped spectacularly

Like I said, I'll be paying close attention to this Vegas thing. I could do that!!

So glad this will finally give the US fans a chance to see him.

Yea a bunch of my friends are saying they'll go too...I just don't want it to sell out before I can get them!!

Oh, and I'm already planning on buying the ticket BEFORE I check with the husband, lol!!

"But honey...I already HAVE the ticket!!!"

Wonder how big the venue will be? I have no doubt he would sell out an average sized one very quickly considering how many tourists would be in Vegas. And he does have quite a few US fans afterall, nearly a million albums sold over there. ^_^

Perhaps he could ask Celine Dion could he use her place,

Maybe he'll become a Vegas regular. They make mega millions there apparently. :o Although his shows would just be full of Europeans. And Dazzleland. <_<

Yep. Celine Dion makes $80 million a year or something. She's been there for like 5 years now.

Robbie would be outsold by Ray from the Xfactor. He is appererently planning his own Veges show as well.

Oh Good Grief.

I know. Even with Simon behind him, his voice is way below average imo. -_-

As long as he doesn't ask Celine Dion to sing with him :P

Let's just hope, if this is true, that tickets will actually be sold and not competition only.

LOL! I could handle that!

Although I'm not extremely postitive about it...I mean, this DID all start in The Sun. And I really can't imagine WHY he'd kick off the album in the US when it most likely won't even be released here. It just seems too good to be true.

I'll be checking the ticket site every day though, lol!

I swear my husband is going to have a coronary.

It's a very old news ! It's more than a year we all know about this Swing album. I still believe a break would have been better, but it seems Robbie wants to end this EMI contract as soon as possible and EMI can't wait to release an album a year !

LifeLight

Yea I know the Swing album rumour is true but I'm not convinced about the Vegas thing. And yea I agree about Robbie wanting to end it ASAP. Poor guy.

I've just decided to be positive and excited about this swing album. The release date could be too early and Vegas, I don't know, but what the f***, I love our man doing the swing. :cheer:

Thinking about it, there's two things I want from this album: I hope there will be at least one song on it that Rob has written himself (like "I will talk... ") and most of all I hope there will be a smasher of a duet, although I couldn't think of anyone straight away. Suggestions... ?

Just read on TRWS, that on wikipedia, it says Rob will release an album this year titled "Rock 567"

He really is going over board with releases and why EMI would let him release so many albums is beyond me.

He needs a break imo. -_-
