I always loved Bring Me Sunshine (the Morecambe and Wise theme). I think he should do that one, particularly as he has a photo of them on his drumkit. :cheer:

Yes, Jup, that is the 'Smile', I mean. Such a classic  Rob would do it so well in his deep voice :smoke:

Flippin Heck... I hope he does not release anything for ages unless he is able to do some serious promo... otherwise the press will tear him apart...... He needs to wait until at least next year & people have forgotten all this negative vibe thing.

I would hate to see him do a great album & not see the fruits of his labour..... Take your time Rob

Agreed. He needs to take 2007 off to have a break and write loads of great music. He does not need yet more negetivity so soon. He should just stay clear of releasing music for a good while or the press truely will have a field day and put everyone off him. <_<

Oh, I can't say that I like that list. All covers in there, and we already heard some of them...
I think he should cansel the whole swing album thing ^_^

What... we are getting very daring on this site :arrr: ....................

Im fine with a bit of ' Swing' .....especially with Rob in a nice kool black suit.... none of those baggy drainpipe things. 2008 though is time enough & I definately want another original album....

Kill me for this.................I have the peculiar feeling that Rob will no longer cater for what you would call his ballad / rock anthem fans.... or will...... any ideas guys...................

Not for the time being anyway I don't think. The music business is full of artists who design there music around what they know is mainstream and ultra commercial and what the public (especially supermaket cd buyers :P ) will buy in their droves. Rob has been making big sing-along ballads and pop/rock anthems for a decade now, he is evolving as an artist and if obviously tired of pleasing everyone. For once he is making the sort of music he himself would listen to, and had such fun doing so. And as he said if that means lower sales than so be it. He could'nt be more successful, he has sold more albums outside the US than anyone else this century with is tremedous success all over the world. Near 70 million records. I mean he may not be huge over there, but he has still sold near 1.5 million albums in North America. He's also sold nearly 3.5 million in South America, 2.5m in Australia/New Zeland 40m + in Europe and probebly a few million between Asia and Africa. He is also without a doubt the most successful touring artist of the past decade, the amount of records he has broke, especially with last years tour is simply remarkable.

So if he wants to continue to change direction then I welcome it. I know there are alot of fans out there who would love nothing more than for him to continue churning out the same style of music for the rest of his career, but I certainy am not one of them. I adore his older stuff, and the majority of my fave songs are from the older material, but I am loving the new material cause it is so refreshing and like nothing else out there. The charts is full of acts who just play it safe by releasing ballads that will guarentee big sales and would'nt ever dream of not sticking to the same formula, thankfully Rob is'nt one of them.

You said you've only heard the whole album once though. You never even gave it a chance. :( :P

I know....but I know the songs  it's just not the kind of music I like listening to :(

I can listen to one or two songs but a whole album is just to much

Scotty ... I agree with you 100%... I love the way that Rob is always so creative & loves trying new sounds .. I also like a lot of his old stuff but equally like what he did on IC which I think is one of his best albums & now Rudebox which a move on from IC. Rudebox was definately the start of something new for Rob & Im sure his new material will be creatively a step forward again... Rob never plays safe... its just not his style, he just looks forward all the time.I do think the old stuff is gone but it was interesting to hear the interviewer in The Big Issue ( was it ) say about the sample tracks that he played to her... they must have been a rock element in those as she mentioned it.

Twinkle.. Swing isnt' my first love but there are some good tracks on Swing When Your Winning..... I think that Rob has a style of singing that kinda draws you in & you end up liking them even though you didnt' intend to... if you follow what I mean.

The only thing I did not like about Rudebox was that when I listen to a few of the tracks I can picture Rob running into the Studio to record them & then running out again.. I think what brought it to mind was when Neil Hannon said that he found it difficult to get Rob to concentrate ( correct me if Im wrong .. )... Steve Power had the same problem with Rob when he used to produce his tracks & I think its something that Rob has never lost the habit of doing... slightly rushing it.....

Please note that I do adore the Robster & anything Im saying here is in discussion really & is not criticising him... I am just nosey to hear what your thoughts are.

I find that this site is the best for discussing his music ( rather than mostly his body ) so thanks for that....

I think I can agree about that with you Scotty. New things - ok. But, I really want his own swing songs, because I think he can do it. -_-

And I still like old style more. :P I must say that, again. :P

Well going by what Rob said in Iowa, there will definatly be a Swing gig :D

Yep..........& in Dublin too.....great is  nt' it.............. <_<
