Ok...Maybe we have our doubts about a new swing album.....but knowing RW...it could be something ' really special '.... :)

Big bands are making a real comeback in recent times as well as musicals...I will hold my fire until I see what he comes up with & I have faith that it will be really good....... ^_^

He has plenty time at the moment to put some proper thought into creating the album whereas last year he was completely tied up with his WT....I think that it was either Craig Russo or Brandon Christy that said that they had to fit in recording with RW while he was been dragged all over the place in connection with his WT. I often wonder how he did get the time to record Rudebox with all that going on .

That's because it IS really good. Believe me if you saw his 'Albert Hall' gig on DVD you would be shocked at how amazing he was. He has a completelly different voice when singing Swing, it is just so impressive, He was born to do Swing, but now is not the time for a Swing album. :(

I do not know if ' NOW' is the time for any album to be honest...the expectation for album sales right up to 2011 is dire according to insiders in the music industry....so timing in the next few years will make no difference whatsoever..Rudebox did brilliant in the current sales climate to sell over 4 million worldwide.Amy Winehouse album I believe has not done as well as expected ..no matter what the press say.....

People it seems are not buying albums anymore ( hear it again discussed this morning on Sky News ...talking about Price album amongst the music industry in general )...fans are now just downloading the tracks that they like....that is ok for established artists who can generate income elsewhere & do not have to totally depend on album sales....but what about new artists starting out...the future does not look good.

However with a Swing album which is a bit different & with good promotion it maybe work...RW may be targeting a different market where people still want to buy the physical CD....( like Moi'''.).......Some artists have now started doing Deluxe editions...maybe RW will do something like that....wait & see I guess...

I know. Rudebox actually did really well when you take everything into consideration. 4m + (or was it 4.5m that Neil said?) is amazing these days for a non-US released album that got no promotion at all and extremly bad press. It was 2006's best selling album in the world (minus the US) by a solo artist, and was probebly the best selling album in Europe of 2006 (if not then it was definatly top 3).

Let's just hope this Swing album is different and very successfull. I'd personally like him to come back with a classic Rob track like 'Feel' etc, and for it to be absolutell massive, then for the rest of the album to be a huge range of different styles of music.

I posted the full article in the news section but here is the part that mentions Rob. It is so true that he made Swing cool again and deserves respect for it. Clare Teal talks about it in this article, thanks to PR and TRWS :D

Clare jazzes up the Proms THE current first lady of UK jazz says the recent upswing in the popularity of the genre owes a debt to Robbie Williams.

It’s a surprising admission from Clare Teal, because one could be forgiven for thinking Williams’ 2001 album Swing When Your Winning represents the kind of pop crossover that would annoy real jazz artists.

And while Teal, who is performing at the Lloyds TSB Welsh Proms in St David’s Hall this month, reserved less respect for Westlife’s stab at the same style, she has genuine praise for the former Take That man.

“When it came to recording my new album (Paradisi Carousel), I didn’t want to do an album of jazz standards because a lot of people are doing that at the moment,” she explained, “including a lot of people from other genres who probably shouldn’t when there are so many jazz artists out there who could do it better.

“But Robbie Williams was actually the first to do that sort of record, two years before Jamie Cullum got signed to Sony, and he opened a lot of doors to the mainstream for jazz artists.

“A lot of people heard that album and liked it but perhaps didn’t realise it was jazz music.

“They bought more records like it, which meant other jazz artists got work off the back of it”

If he added a CD of great B-Sides or a DVD of great videos the CD would sell. EMI(or whoever) just need to be creative. ^_^

I agree. They need to think outside the box :D

Personally, I don't mind if R releases another "Swing" album, cos I like that style of music - it's classy!

Mother Jupiter will be delighted. She stole my copy of the last one for my dad's car. <_<

Jupiter 9 ...I agree with you...but will they do that ...I do not think so....too simple for their Web orientated minds...they cannot see past that at the moment......I think the time is badly needed to go back to basics.......

We need to take over his marketing strategy ;)

Having said that...Swing is just the type of thing that would sell well with a DVD/CD combo along with a liitle film on the making of same & some nice little videos of RW is some very nice snazzy suits...............' Oooooooooooooop's' ...I just fell off my chair at the very thought...............

I wonder should we send a very nice letter to the Mr Clark with our recommendation...after all he is the guy that keeps talking about how artists have to change & how they have to find various ways of selling themselves....WELL...RW in a suit sells every time..................... :w00t: :w00t: :w00t: :w00t: :w00t: :w00t: :w00t: :w00t: :w00t:

Wouldn't that be like bribing the fan or consumer into buying it ??

Personally I think he's far from being that desperate to get people to buy the CD.

Whether a CD sells or not should be down to the quality of the music. Its success should be on its own merit not because of the extras that accompany it.

True Robfan until the tabloids do the "pull Robbie down" bit.

EMI getting creative? Thinking outside a box ... That'll be the day! They r more like Pandora's Box :teresa:
