If (like in America) B-sides could start charting

P!nk's HEartbreaker could be #1

Surely now B-sides can chart? As you can download the songs seperatly off online stores?

So many of my favourite tracks are b-sides and to me they're always part of the package of a single, I'll never stop buying physical singles.
aww i like b sides sometimes they are really good aswell so hopefully they wont scrap them :(

Do downloaded dance remixes of a song count as separate chart entry from the original?

That's a good question.

ISTM that, since unlimited versions of a song count towards the main songs total sales, they'd all be added together, rather than charting separately.

They already have - last week one of MCR's tracks ('Kill All Your Friends') that had only had a physical release as a B-side to a 7" of 'Famous Last Words', charted at #191.

I hope they keep B-sides. I rarely buy singles, but those that I do are usually for the B-sides which are tracks that are unavailable elsewhere.....and quite often better than some of the actual A-side songs!! It makes you wonder if record company big-wigs (or the people besides the artist who decide on tracks) do actually know what they're doing!!!
I love B-sides, I am always looking forward to buying the single for the new songs which are not on the album. :D

I bet if they let you buy Madonna's bside track "History" that would do well, it is a good song

I always love to hear the b-sides. They might be songs that didn't make the cut for the album, but maybe because they didn't fit the overall style, and not because they weren't good enough. And everyone has a different opinion about what is better, so it gives fan something extra.

B-sides might be an opportunity for an artist to include a song they really liked, but the record company sniffed at, or be an outlet for material they produce inbetween albums, if the promotion for each album is over a long period. Even if it's a remix or a live version of a song, the fact that there is a home for b-sides is a good thing. I can see why record companies will care less and less about them, but it's always going to be something fans want to hear.

Delirium by Pink is a B side and its for sure in my top 3 songs by her, it's an awesome track. She has really good B sides, every single from her latest album had B sides which were all good :)

And there have been some good b-sides, eg. Silent Footsteps by Jennifer Ellison which was the b-side to Baby I Don't Care.

i suppose compared to the other side anything sounds alright. even mika!!!!

Many times way back you could find many B-sides were not included on an album so if anyone wanted the track they would have to buy the single.

Also some A-sides started out as B-Sides. One example is Maggie May by Rod Stewart which was originally the B-Side of Reason To Believe.
