February 11, 200718 yr Most people haven't heard the album or saw the movie but still comment on it. Glitter is my second favourite Mariah album, I think it's awesome but most critics go with each other and criticse it, even though it's full of great songs. Meh.. whatever
February 11, 200718 yr By the way I copied and pasted the two reviews (the rest will be done later) so we can see a contrast between our opinions and the opinions of expert reviewers, thought it would be an interesting discussion.
February 11, 200718 yr Great idea John ^_^ The Remixes is a c**p album, no WAY does it deserve 4 stars! Glitter is also under rated here! It's a good album, but no one gave it a chance, maybe Loverboy put people off?
February 12, 200718 yr I think you're right Kally. -_- The Remixes is alright I guess, but by no means one of my favourites.
February 14, 200718 yr Most people haven't heard the album or saw the movie but still comment on it. Glitter is my second favourite Mariah album, I think it's awesome but most critics go with each other and criticse it, even though it's full of great songs. Meh.. whatever I know, I'm sure the low rating for Glitter is partly due to the backlash she recieved. Surprised to see Daydream rated higher than Butterfly.
February 15, 200718 yr The first two reviews have been copied and pasted into their respective threads as quotes. The ratings are a bit out from my viewpoint. I mean Emotions is a great album in my opinion, I don't think it was satisfactory to all the Mariah fans. I agree Kelly, Glitter is very harshly rated there. Not sure if the critic was being carried away by the way this whole project underperformed. Stephen Thomas Erlewine has very "interesting" opinions about certain albums. For example he think's Pink is the greatest pop artist of the late 1990s & early 2000s while being more dismissive about other contemporary acts especially Christina Aguilera which is quite surprising when taking account of her success at the Grammies. As I'm going up the Optional Forums posting these threads, I can tell you if you think he has been harsh towards Mariah, then you should wait & see what he says about Christina Aguilera's Stripped album & he has been less than complementary about Justin Timberlake. While even I did not have the heart to post the equivalent thread about the Pussycat Dolls whom he has savaged with their debut album receiving a miserable 1.5 Star review. Stripped got a low rating? Hmm, I might post a reviews thread in there for that album after I have listened to it again a few times. Wasn't meaning that he was harsh towards Mariah, just meant what Orlando posted below. That he was swayed by the lack of success associated with the Glitter project. I know, I'm sure the low rating for Glitter is partly due to the backlash she recieved. That is what I meant in the above quote.
