Posted February 20, 200718 yr http://www.esctoday.com/images/2007_pre/morrissey.jpg The BBC will reveal the finalists that will compete in the fourth annual Making Your Mind Up national final on February 28th. esctoday.com can reveal that Morrissey will not be featured either as a singer or a songwriter. The full list of participants will be revealed on Wednesday 28th February, and of course esctoday.com will as usual be at the annual launch event to bring you the best online coverage of the United Kingdom. Morrissey, who's name spread around the world as a potential songwriter for the United Kingdom's Eurovision Song Contest entry this year, will not be playing a part in Making Your Mind Up. News spread from The Sun to CNN and was a regular spot on the BBC News 24 channel when it was announced that he had been contacted but esctoday.com has been officially told by the BBC that "Morrissey will not be involved this year". The story was overhyped by the press and we only spoke to him as we did with a number of people. Other claims that Billie Piper would participate were also dismissed as laughable. The former pop star has been keen to promote her growing reputation as an actress after winning several awards for her role in the new Doctor Who series and has made it clear on many occasions that she sees acting as her career focus for the foreseeable future. As a member of the 'Big Four' countries, the United Kingdom automatically qualifies for the Eurovision Song Contest final on 12th May in Helsinki. http://www.esctoday.com/images/2007_pre/dazsampsondisappointed.jpg Earlier today, esctoday.com confirmed that Morrissey is out of the running for the United Kingdom national final, the fourth annual Making Your Mind Up. Now we can reveal that another hotly tipped candidate is out of the running, that is none other than last year's entrant, Daz Sampson. Daz had prepared a song called Goodbye with T'pau lead singer Carol Decker and as reported months ago, had submitted it to the BBC for consideration for their 2007 entry. Daz today confirmed to esctoday.com that: "The BBC explained that they felt that it might be a little to soon for me to come back, but the door is always open again in the future. As a Eurovision fan, I'm 100% behind what the BBC decide. I am disappointed because I love the competition and I'd love to go again. I know the BBC want to revamp the show and get some more big names, but if it ends up being lesser names then naturally like all UK fans, I will be disappointed. I will definitely be going to Helsinki for the show, just like all the other fans, and I'm seeing everyone there". The timing is not a bad thing for Daz as he is required in the USA after reforming the band Sporting Rif Raf, which he describes as"a party-pop Chumbawumba type thing". They have produced a track which will feature on the soundtrack for the upcoming latest American Pie movie. Speaking about the new project, Daz told esctoday.com that "Ministry of Sound have picked it up, there's a deal on the table in Germany but there's the big American deal and I'll be there for a month doing promotion in Los Angeles. We've just finished the new Uniting Nations single has just been finished and is ready to roll as well". Daz will be publishing the Carol Decker song 'Goodbye' on www.myspace.com/dazsampson next week and esctoday.com have been granted permission to link to the page when the song is available.
February 21, 200718 yr we could send the world's best song and group and we'd still get nada. It's a waste of breath now
February 21, 200718 yr Author we could send the world's best song and group and we'd still get nada. It's a waste of breath now I don't think that's fully true tbh. Daz last year had a good song - but it's not very Europe-friendly, Javine and James Fox gave forgettable songs and performances, Jemini were generally $h!te and Jessica Garlick had a great song and came third. If we send a good song we should do well - we have done in the Junior ESC and came second in 2004 or something.
February 21, 200718 yr I disagree, Javine's song was amazing, but I agree James' was a bit forgettable. Jessica's song was awesome, but I wish Haifa Kayali had represented us the year she entered.

Javine's song was of a high standard, but the problem was it came extremely early in the draw and was almost identical to quite a few other songs that year.
February 22, 200718 yr ooo I LOVED javine's song.. it was catchy and she had a great performace but sh had throat problems on h ay remember.. i hate her now tho due to her being a home wrecking b**ch ^_^ but it was good.. if she had been on last and if other songs weren't similar she should ave won... it is weird how each year alot of songs sound the same.. tis year we will have roc i bet  coz of lordi ^_^
