AWFUL, shows absolutley no progression from them imo.

It'll go down a storm but its shit.

i've listened to this a couple of times now and to me it sounds exactly the same as their previous stuff, i loved their last album, i like this but its just not as good as i expected

Well yeah tbh I can see the comparisons between some of their stuff from the first album. I mean personally I think it's very much like Vampires off the first album but lyrically it's different to the first album.

I've heard a few live clips from some of their new stuff and they sound promising and different to the style of the first album, so I can see why they've released this as the least single, because it's probably the track most like the old Arctic Monkeys that appears on the first album. :D ^_^

I'm glad everyone likes it so far!

Zane Lowe played it TWICE in a row last night, which is something he's never done before with a single before. Then he played it again at the end of the show. Jo Whiley also played it twice on her show today as well. The response this single is getting at the moment seems to be REALLY positive, which well can only be good! :D ^_^

I heard it was three times

I heard it was three times

He did in the end. :P Certintley a first though for him playing a track three times on one show though! He said the feedback he got off the texts was 99.9% positive as well. :P

Brianstorm Lyrics:

Brian,

Top marks for not tryin'

So kind of you to bless us with your effortlessness

We're grateful and so strangely comforted

And I wonder are you puttin' us under

Cause we can't take our eyes off the t-shirt and ties combination

Well see you later, innovator

Some want to kiss some want to kick you

There's not a net you couldn't slip through

Or at least that's the impression I get cause you're smooth and you're wet

And she's not aware yet but she's yours

She'll be sayin' use me

Show me the jacuzzi

I imagine that it's there on a plate

Your rendezvous rate means that you'll never be frightened to make them wait for a while

I doubt it's your style not to get what you set out to acquire

The eyes are on fire

You are the unforecasted storm

(Brian)

Calm, collected, and commandin'

(Top marks for not tryin')

You made the other stories standin'

With your renditions and jokes

Bet there's hundreds of blokes that have wept cause you've stolen their ...thunder

Are you puttin' us under

Cause we can't take our eyes off the t-shirt and ties combination

Well see you later, innovator

I think it is. :P The reaction from the majority of people seems to be really good, which can only be good! Obviously it isn't gonna be everyone's cup of tea, but well it is mine. :P

Wow, quite a weird cover, lol. Regarding the song, I think it's amazing! I knew they'd return with something big, musically it's not very different to their previous stuff, but it is different lyrically. I like it a lot, they've surprised me once again with a great song.

It is a bit wierd, but a good wierd. Brianstorm is one of their best tracks tbh. I can't get the tune out of my head. Should hopefully be their 3rd #1, but well we'll see. :P

Is it Brian or Brain?

Good song though, sweet drumming, and I like how it sounds like he's singing in a phone box, no.1 :D

It's Brian. :P I think just about everyone has thought that it's Brain at some point. (Me included.)

Alex does sound very much like he's singing in a phone box! :o It just sounds really dark to me, well a lot dark and heavier than a lot of their other stuff. I think I know now what they meant when they said the new album has a much heavier sound.

I think it's because Brainstorm is an actual word, but I have to listen to it a few times to take it in, it's REALLY good :o

It replaces LBTLCO as my favourite song by them, I'm probably the only one but I'm sick of hearing IBYLGOTD now, it will still be a classic though

This one is probably the best comeback so far this year (surpassing Kaisers / Bloc Party / Fall Out Boy (not hard)

Doesn't show much (if any) progression from their earlier stuff, but that's not necessarily a bad thing

I'll admit I wasn't too keen on it at first, but it's growing on me

yep everyone seems to love this already  i guess i'll have to give it time, i mean i hated Dancefloor when i first heard it, so...

anyway, very cool cover, i like it :D

Brianstorm DigitalSpy Single Review:

The Arctic Monkeys have become increasingly hard to like and get into in recent times. With the success of their first album came huge numbers of new fans, and with issues such as forgetting lines onstage, a general lack of personality within the group and a succession of so-so singles, it didn't look too positive for the boys, but hopefully their latest release can change all that.

Luckily for the Sheffield foursome, they seem in recent times to have regained a semblance of the melodic interest that made them so exciting for so many at the beginning of their career. Latest single 'Brianstorm' is a brilliant, throbbing piece of indieclash that brings some thrills back to the group's style. Purportedly written about a schmoozer the guys met whilst touring the US, pointed lyrics like: "Brian/Top marks for not trying," and the later, cleverly sarky note of: "We can't take our eyes off the T-shirt and ties combination/Well, see you later innovator!" show that lead singer Alex Turner hasn't lost his touch for lyrical snappiness.

As well as the great lyrics, 'Brianstorm' showcases the throbbing bass line and complex guitar work that the Arctic Monkeys specialise in. Turner's harsh, accented vocals juxtapose perfectly against the sped-up melody, all of which serves to form a cool little song that shows that when the Arctic Monkeys try hard, rather than resting on their laurels, they can achieve great things.
