Jesus In A Camper Van
Released: 1998: I've Been Expecting You album

I have always loved this song so much. It brings back some great memories. ^_^ Was on the original version of I've Been Expecting You, but had to be replaced by It's only us for legal reasons. <_< I just think the whole melody and music of this song are brill, and the lyrics are very witty, and of course the fantastic title also adds to it's brillance. A highly underrated song. ^_^

Oo we've got a live one, featherweight icon
Heroes let 'im down so he sleeps with theLight on
And there's nothin' left to do but kneel downAnd pray
Sail away with Caesar if you're a non believerEverybody get high if you're a
Diamond geezerIt's the devil that needs ya so go out and play

Blame yourself it's easierThere's no need to trouble her you trouble herMy heart is starved of love
Jesus in a camper van he said sorry toLeave you but I've done all I can
I suppose even the son of GodGets it hard sometimesEspecially when he goes round
Saying I am the way

And now it's four in the mornin' yes yes y'all in
No one can shoot but everybody's scoringTrust me it's boring get down and pray

They told you not to meddle with the bass and The treble
There's dust on your needle and you think that
You're a rebel

You're Evel Knievel so get down and prayBlame yourself it's easier
There's no need to trouble her you trouble her

Jesus in a camper van he said sorry toLeave you but I've done all I can
I suppose even the son of GodGets it hard sometimesEspecially when he goes round
Saying I am the way

I am the way, I am the way, I am the way
I am, I am, I am, I am, I am, I am the way

Jesus in a camper van he said sorry toLeave you but I've done all I can
I suppose even the son of GodGets it hard sometimes

50. Make Me Pure
Released: 2005 (Intensive Care)

A simple yet brilliant song. Just Robbie and an guitar, the perfect combination. ^_^ Lyrically this is one of his best ever imo, there is no big chorus, just the simple one line "Make me pure, but not yet"! It is also beautiful live, I have great memories of him singing it in Dublin, with the sun blazing down and 90,000 people just singing so loud ^_^ There was a clip make for this song, to help promote the album when it came out, it was a very boring clip however, but still was suitable for such a simple yet effective tune. Here it is live from Leeds along with Millennium. I love the part when he says "And I'll be havin an erextion all accross the known univers, very amusing :kink:

Some will sing a song
To reel 'em in
It's a song I sung before
And a song I'm gonna sing again
I mean every word
I don't mean a single one of them
Oh Lord, make me pure
- but not yet

Tell a joke
Tell it twice
If noone else is laughing then why am i
I split my sides both times and laugh till i cry
Oh Lord, please make me pure
- but not yet

I don't have to try
I just dial it in
I've never found a job that for me was worth bothering
I got a ton of selfish genes and lazy bones
beneath this skin
Oh Lord, make me pure
- but not yet

Smoking kills
Sex sells
I've got one hand in my pocket but the other one looks cool as hell
I know I'm gonna die so my revenge is living well
Oh Lord, make me pure
- but not yet

I stopped praying
So I hope this song will do
I wrote it all for you
I'm not perfect but you don't mind that, do you?
I know you're there to pull me through, aren't you?

So I look for love
I like the search
And I'll be standing for election all across the known universe
Every president gets the country she deserves
Oh Lord, make me pure
- but not yet

And I've been seeing
Somebody's wife
She said she'd leave him for me and I said that wasn't wise
You can't lie to a liar because of all the lies
Oh Lord, please make me pure
- not yet

49. Singing For The Lonley
Released: 2000 (Sing When You're Winning)

I just love this song so much. Whenever I hear it I just can't help singing along, it is brilliant when driving along in the car. It's got very sad lyrics, but it very upbeat. I love his vocal on it as well. Here is the amazing one off performance of it from the Abbey Road gig. He talks for the first 2 minutes though.

Singing for the lonely
You're not the only ones who feel this
So scared of what we're doing
All the time

Here comes wasted head-space
Paranoia
Anger, misplaced feelings
Leave me nowhere
All the time

I don't wake up early every morning
'Cause the more I sleep the less I have to say
Scared of you always thinking that I'm boring
Stop me yawning my life away

Tender young confusion
Send black mariah for blue delusions
Lays heavy oh so heavy
On my mind

I'm so sick of people's expectations
Leaves me tired all the time
If your home's full of useless aggravation
Then don't bring it to mine

I seem to spend my life
Just waiting for the chorus
'Cause the verse is never nearly
Good enough

The hooligan half of me
That steals from Woolworths
While the other lives for love

I'm so sick of people's expectations
Leaves me tired all the time
If your home's full of worthless aggravation
Then don't bring it to mine

Singing for the lonely
We're not the only ones who feel this
So scared of what I'm doing
All the time

Singing for the Lonely
We're not the only ones who feel this
Scared of what we're doing
All the time

48. Hot Fudge
Released: 2002 (Escapology)

Yeeeeeeeeey Haaaaaaaaaa :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:

Such an amazing, feel good pop classic.  It was an absolute CRIME this track was never a single, it would've been HUGE!!!!! :arrr: This track was so good, I remember after Feel was released all the radio stations were playing this song constantly presuming it was the next single, but then when it turned out the second single would be Come Undone, they continued to play it. Here in Ireland to this very day, I often hear it on the radio. It is just pop perfection. :yahoo:

Here is the AMAING Knebworth performance. :cheer:

Queen b**ch eat the rich
I'm on the second course today
I'm not the first and I won't be the worst
She's done most of L.A.
Can't find a virgin, I can get you a surgeon
Twenty-four hours a day
Call it Collagen Jeanie you big lip meanie
I'm about to be blown away
Come on sing it

Take me to the place where the sunshine flows
Oh my Sunset Rodeo

Hot fudge here comes the judge
There's a green card in the way
The Holy Ghost and the whole East Coast
Are moving to L.A.
And we've been dreaming of this feeling since 1988
Mother things have got to change
I'm moving to L.A.

Take the p*** always English
God bless you Uncle Sam
You got a cool gene pool and our winter's cruel
And God knows I love to tan
Making cents and dead Presidents
Before I could count to ten
With a nation behind me can't stop the limey
She's on her back again
Come on sing it

Take me to the place where the sunshine flows
Oh my Sunset Rodeo

Hot fudge here comes the judge
There's just a green card in the way
The Holy Ghost and the whole East Coast
Are moving to L.A.
'Cause we've been dreaming of this feeling since 1988

47. You’re The Why
Released: 2002 (Ten More Turntips - Ian Dury And The Blockheads)

This is such a beautiful song. One of the best covers he's ever done. He sings it perfectly. It apeared on the Ian Dury tribute album, the Blockhead actually wanted to release it as a single, but EMI (being the idiots that they are) refused as 'Feel' was released that week and they wanted it to be #1. Although, it would've been a good idea for it to have been released as he probebly would've had two songs in the top 5  Amazing song.

I shuffled through the modes of bad behaviour
And hankered for the desolated dawn
I couldn't cope with yet another saviour
To steer me from the way that I was born

Then like a ton of bricks the dawn descended
Recalcitrance was hurtled to the floor
The citadel lay breached and undefended
You brought a love I'd never known before

Chorus:
I'll want you till the seasons lose their mystery
I'll need you till the birds forget to fly
I'll love you more than anyone in history
Wherever there's a wherefore you're the why

46. South Of The Border
Released: 1997 (Life Thru A Lens)

I have always loved this track, ever since hearing it all those 10 years ago. Love everything about it, like the rest of LTAL, it is so raw, and I love rocky Robbie the most. :P Robbie once joked that this Oasis-like anthem was better than Angels, obviously he was'nt serious, but it is still a brilliant song.

The live performance that was on youtube has been taken down

(Goes a little something like this)
I know a freaky young lady
Name of no shame Katie
She makes my temperature freeze
She's got a blood red powder
When she gives a shout
She'll bring you to your knees
Well, we were being clever
Playing God games forever
She said she only meant to please
But I'm someone's brother
Got a father and a mother
You know I'm gonna have to leave
South of the border
I think you oughta
(Repeat)
Chorus
'Cos you know you're gonna have to leave
To a place where you can breathe
And you know there's no reprieve
There'll be tears on leaving
But there won't be no grieving
'Cos a city soon forgets
To me it's magic
To the landlord it's tragic
Lyrics
He's got another room to let
There'll be the same old faces
In the same old places
Where my youth was well misspent
But I toe the line and move in time
To a town called no regrets
South of the border
I think you oughta
(Repeat)
(Repeat Chorus)
Yeah yeah
Oooh oh yeah
Ooh oh yeah
'Cos you know you're gonna have to leave
To a place where you can breathe
(Repeat Chorus)
Yeah
Yes, I love rocky Robbie also. Very good song.

45. The Trouble With Me
Released: 2005 (Intensive Care)

A really great song, some of the finest lyrics he's ever written. I love it, but have always found the actual chorus a little dissapointing compared to the verses. It could be better. ^_^ Still amazing song though, and my 3rd fave on IC.

You see the trouble with me
I've got a head full of f***
I'm a basket case
I don't think I can love love love

You see the trouble with you
Is you're in love with me
What a strange thing to do
What a brave place to be

And so we die on sunset strip
A heart so deep I drown in it
And as it breaks I swim through cracks
And leave with words I can't take back
(Wo wo wo)

You see the trouble with me
Monkey see monkey do
There's no you in tomorrow
A better offer came through

You see the trouble with you
There's no trouble with you
So when you say that you love me
That stops me loving you
Lyrics

And so she stayed on sunset strip
A heart so full I drown in it
She's waiting for my words to break
The one true love I couldn't make
Wo wo wo yeah yeah yeah

Ans so she walks that golden mile
And men will try and catch her eye
We both know what could have been
On sunset strip a broken dream

Wo wo wo yeah yeah yeah
Wo wo wo yeah yeah yeah

44. Man Machine
Released: 1998 (I've Been Expecting You)

This is such an amazing track, such a brilliant guitar riff, with great lyrics. And it is absolutelly amazing live, sadly there is no live performance on youtube, there used to be one from TOTP, but the stupid site keeps taking loads of them down.

Sitting in the cheap seats underneath the stars
I'm heading back to base, I'll drop you off at Mars
I'm sure I know your face or what star you're from
I try to make conversation but I'm too far gone
I'm a man machine
Drinking gasoline
Super human being
Shooting laser beams
How you gonna leave, when your bags ain't packed
And how you gonna shoot, when we're back to back
How d'you tell a joke, when you can't laugh
You know that you're the punchline, baby take a bath
I'm a man machine
Drinking gasoline
Super human being
I'm a queen's dream
The dog has ate my homework today
It's not done, it ain't done
I have heard they're not very well in the sun
Cos I'm a man machine
I'm a queen's dream
Drinking gasoline
I'm a queen's dream
Yeah....Help
How you gonna live for love lying on our back
Lyrics
And how you gonna keep it kleen in a dirty mac
How you gonna breathe when you're lost in space
You're dazed and amused
Talking through a different face
Cos I'm man machine
Drinking gasoline
I'm a teen dream
I'm a man machine
I'm a man machine
I'm a man machine
Drinking gasoline
This live video of The Trouble With Me I really like. And song is beautiful.
