4. Come Undone

Released: 2002 (Escapology album)

Such an amazing song  It could've been my #2 or 3, but it depends on my mood This is without a doubt the best song Rob's ever written without Guy, and what a brilliant song it is. One of the very few classics on Escapology imo, and it will always be one of my favourite ever songs. Shockingly this song is one of his worst sellers in the UK, and did'nt do great worldwide either, just goes to prove charts and sales do not equal quality. It is so under-rated by non fans. I just love everything about this, it has a very raw and rocky sound to it. A rock ballad with truely amazing lyrics, some of the best he's ever written. Guy Chambers said he hated this song because he felt the lyrics were too shocking, what does he know  I actually much perfer the version on the US album, than on the rest of the worlds version. Far better, and more like the way he sings it live. It is an amazing song live, an staidum anthem, and Rob always puts so much effort into performing it and sings it with such bitter intensity. Here are just some of the classic performances. :w00t: The best performance ever of Come Undone was at the TMF Awards in 2003 imo, but it is not on youtube.

Carson Daly in the USA

So unimpressed but so in awe

Such a saint but such a whore

So self aware so full of $h!t

So indecisive so adamant

I'm contemplating thinking about thinking

It's overrated just get another drink and

Watch me come undone

They're selling razor blades and mirrors in the street

(come undone)

I pray when I'm coming down you'll be asleep

(come undone)

If I ever hurt you your revenge will be so sweet

Because I'm scum, and I'm your son,

I come undone

I come undone

So rock and roll, so corporate suit

So damn ugly, so damn cute

So well-trained, so animal

So need your love, so f*** you all

I'm not scared of dying

I just don't want to

If I stopped lying I'd just disappoint you

I come undone

They're selling razor blades and mirrors in the street

(come undone)

I pray that when I'm coming down you'll be asleep

(come undone)

If I ever hurt you your revenge will be so sweet

Because I'm scum, and I'm your son,

I come undone

So write another ballad

Mix it on a Wednesday

Sell it on a Thursday

Buy a yacht by Saturday

It's a love song

A love song

Do another interview

Sing a bunch of lies

Tell about celebrities that I despise

And sing love songs

We sing love songs

So sincere

(come undone)

They're selling razor blades and mirrors in the street

(come undone)

I pray that when I'm coming down you'll be asleep

(come undone)

The young pretend you're in the clouds above the sea

I come undone, I am scum, love your son

You've gotta love your son

You've gotta love your son

Love your son, I am scum

I am scum

I am scum

I am scum

Scottyg

It's one of my top favourites as well ( alon with Sexed up )...RW wrote that song with real feeling & I do not get why GC was so upset...was it because Rob has written it himself ....I agree it's one of his best & deserved to do way better than it did but as you say it's real quality & that is what counts.....

Thanks...I love hearing it & never tire of it.......

It was most likely changed so that the list I gave was wrong :smoke:

3. No Regrets
Released: 1998 (I've Been Expecting You)

Absolutely amazing song, such a timeless classic. Ever since I first heard this near 9 years ago when I bought I've Been Expecting You I automatically loved it. It is just brilliant, the whole arrangment of it is pure genius, everything about it is perfection from the backing vocals with Neil Tennent from The Pet Shop Boys, and Neil Hannon from the Divine Comedy to the music itself which is excellent, the whole build up to the end , and of course the simply amazing lyrics in this song are arguably the finest he has ever written. It is about Take That, and it full of so much hatred and bitterness - the cousin of Karma Killer if you like  It may be a negetivie type of song in a sence when you think of what it's about, but in chorus of "No regrets, they don't work, No regrets now they only hurt" is very positive. This has always been a highlight of Rob gigs for me, It is just an amazing live track, and the end is always amazing ^_^ Here are some of the best live performance of this classic :w00t: Sadly the Cologne performance is'nt on youtube, and that was the best imo, the way all the fire appeared all around the staidum at the end was unforgettable. B) Sadly these are the only performance I could find. :(

Here is the amazing Knebworth performance, which was most definatly one of the gigs highlights, as always the end is the best.

Live in France

Tell me a story where we all change
And we’d live our lives together
And not estranged

I didn’t lose my mind, it was mine to give away
Couldn’t stay to watch me cry
You didn’t have the time
So I softly slip away...

No regrets, they don’t work
No regrets now, they only hurt

Sing me a lovesong (sing me a lovesong)
Drop me a line (drop me a line)
Suppose it’s just a point of view
But they tell me I’m doing fine

I know from the outside (when they all stared)
We looked good for eachother (so people said)
Felt things we’re going wrong
When you didn’t like my mother (it was all in your head)

I don’t want to hate but that’s all you’ve left me with
A bitter aftertaste and a fantasy
Of how we all could live...

No regrets, they don’t work
No regrets now, they only hurt
( we’ve been told you stay up late)
I know they’re still talking
( you’re far too short to carry weight)
The demons in your head
( return the videos they’re late)
If I could just stop hating you
( goodbye )
I feel sorry for us instead

Remember the photographs, insane
The one where we all laughed, so lame
We were having the time of our lives
Well thank you, it was a real blast

No regrets, they don't work
No regrets now, they only hurt
( we’ve been told you stay up late)
Write me a love song
( you’re far too short to carry weight)
Drop me a line
( return the videos they’re late)
Suppose it's just a point of view
( goodbye )
But they tell me I'm doing fine

Everything I wanted to be, everytime I walked away
Everytime you told me to leave, I just wanted to stay
Everytime you looked at me, and everytime you smiled
I felt so vacant, you treat me like a child
I love the way we used to laugh, the way we used to smile
Often I sit down and think of you for a while
And then it passes me by and think of someone else instead
I guess the love that we once had is officialy...
Dead.

2. Feel
Released: 2002 (Escapology)

An absolute classic, probebly my favourite song of the 21st century so far. An absolute anthem of a song. This is most definatly up there with Angels in terms of quality, often I enjoy it far far more. In terms of actual music, and lyrics it is actually far better imo, but overall they change, and nothing is like Angels live, but this is most definatly very close. Right from the very start with the wonderful piano opening, and then his amazing vocals, to the massive sing-along chorus which is , as Rob said himself, like a big prayer, acompanied by some of the best lyrics hes ever written, this is just a bloody amazing ballad. The whole production of it is amazing, the music in arguably the best Guy and Rob came up with, just the entire construction of the track is brilliant. Thank god, Ms Dynamite never got to ruin this by doing a rap like it had been originally planne. God, that really would've ruined it totally. This is Robs' most successful single EVER worldwide, with an estimated 4 million copies sold :o It topped nearly a dozen charts accross the globe, and went top 10 in every single European country and was nominated for an Ivor Novello award. It was even a big hit in Canada, where it peaked at #10 and spent an amazing 54 week in the chart over there :o Even in America it remains his biggest hit, reaching #40 in the Billboard Hot 100. Obviously, though it should've been far bigger. -_- In the UK however, despite Rob betting £1000 that it would go to #1, it only reached #4. Reason being was pretty obviously, it was released a week AFTER the album (Escapology) was released. A totally insane idea, because this would've most definatly been #1 if it had've been released BEFORE the album like all singles. What the idea was I have no idea,

The video cost Rob himself a reported $1 million, because at the time he was signed to no record company and was still deciding on what record company to sign to. The vid started hollywood star Daryl Hannah, and was filmed in Canada.

Feel is undoubtably one of the best Live songs there is, it is simply deafening when a live crowd is singing the chorus to this, although not so much at Live 8 when not everyone knew the second part to it  Here are some of the amazing performance of the song. ^_^

Knebworth: Most definatly the best performance of Feel ever, his voice has never sounded better singing it.

And of course, the best EVER TV performance I've ever seen, Feel on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno. This never gets old, it is always and will always be hilarous, the Simon Cowell part is just classic

Come and hold my hand
I wanna contact the living
Not sure I understand
This role I've been given

I sit and talk to God
And he just laughs at my plans
My head speaks a language
I don't understand

I just want to feel real love
Fill the home that I live in
'Cause I got too much life
Running through my veins
Going to waste

I don't want to die
But I ain't keen on living either
Before I fall in love
I'm preparing to leave her
I scare myself to death
That's why I keep on running
Before I've arrived
I can see myself comming

I just want to feel real love
Fill the home that I live in
'Cause I got too much life
Running through my veins
Going to waste
And I need to feel real love
And a life ever after
I cannot get enough

I just want to feel real love
Fill the home that I live in
I got too much love
Running through my veins
To go to waste

I just wanna feel real love
In a life ever after
There's a hole in my soul
You can see it in my face
It's a real BIG place

Come and hold my hand
I want to contact the living
Not sure I understand
This role I've been given
Not sure I understand
Not sure I understand
Not sure I understand
Not sure I understand

Get out your prayer mats and your hyme books..... This ones called :smoke:

1. Angels
Released: 1997 (Life Thru A Lens)

"I Sit and wait, does an angel contemplate my fate"  If it was'nt for this one song, we most likely would'nt all be here right now and Rob would'nt be a pop star anymore. After South Of the Border had flopped at #14, and Life Thru A Lens sold only 33,000 copies within it's first three months, EMI were on the verge of droping Robbie. They decided to give it one last go, with Angels and the rest is history as they say. ^_^ This is the song which sold over a million copies in the UK alone, the song that is the biggest selling song ever to peak at #4, the song that has spend over 3 YEARS in the UK charts (160 + weeks), the song that is among the most played at both wedding's and funerals, the song that often appears in the top 10 of the best songs of all time polls, the song that is the unofficial British national anthem lets me honest , and the song that was voted the single greatest track of the past 25 years at the 2005 BRIT Awards. Yes, you may say, like all signiture songs by artists that it is overrated, overplayed etc, but not without reason. It may be predictable to have Angels at number one, but what would be the point in putting in low just for the shock value, that would just make this whole chart utterly pointless. When people hear the name 'Robbie Williams' they think 'Angels'. It is his signiture tune, and despite the fact he's probebly performed it thousands of times, he says he never gets bored of singing it because each time he performance it, it is an amazing experience, and I most definatly agree. I will never forget being in attendence at Slane when he sang Angels, he pretty much let the crowd sing most of the song whilst he walked around the stage with an Irish flag wrapped around him, while we all sang it so unbelievably loud back to him. It was so amazing to be apart of that, as it has been each time I have seen him perform it live, whether it be in front of 140,000 people at Phoenix Park or 8,000 at the Point in Dublin, it was always just amazing. The best example of the power of Angels was probebly at Live 8 when, despite the fact that a huge amount of the 200,000 strong crowd were not even Rob fans, the entire of Hyde Park sang it along with Rob, it was amazing to watch and I can only imagine how amazing it must've been for people who were actually there. And Knebworth is another perfect example of how amazing this song is.

It was released in the USA in 99, and did relativly well, reaching #10 in the US Adult Contempory chart, #21 in the Adult top 40, #22 in the top 40 tracks, #25 in the Mainstream Chart, and #41 in the Hot 100. It even had a different video, but nowhere near as good as the actual version. -_-

This song was originally wrote by Robbie and Irish-man Ray Heffornen, but that was mearly a few of the lyrics in the verses, and none of the music. Once Rob met with with Guy Chambers, they soon transformed it into the classic anthem it is today. But as far as covers go, there has'nt been a single one I've heard that has'nt been awful. Jessica Simson being the main example. What were you thinking Rob? She murdered it , absolutely horrid in every way. :puke2:

Here are some of the most memerable 'Angels' performances.

Knebworth, one of the best performances I've ever seen of any song. just amazing.

Glastonbury, what an amazing performance this way. Rob always said how shocked he was that all these rock fans knew every single word to a song he wrote  Really special performance.

I sit and wait
Does an angel contemplate my fate
And do they know
The places where we go
When we're grey and old
'cos I've been told
That salvation lets their wings unfold
So when I'm lying in my bed
Thoughts running through my head
And I feel that love is dead
I'm loving angels instead

Chorus

And through it all she offers me protection
A lot of love and affection
Whether I'm right or wrong
And down the waterfall

Wherever it may take me
I know that life won't break me
When I come to call she won't forsake me
I'm loving angels instead

When I'm feeling weak
And my pain walks down a one way street
I look above
And I know I'll always be blessed with love
And as the feeling grows
She breathes flesh to my bones
And when love is dead
I'm loving angels instead

Chorus

And through it all she offers me protection
A lot of love and affection
Whether I'm right or wrong
And down the waterfall
Wherever it may take me
I know that life won't break me
When I come to call she won't forsake me
I'm loving angels instead

Repeat Chorus
