HAPPY ROBBIE'S FINALLY ON THE ROAD TO RECOVERY

RICHARD AULT

09:40 - 15 March 2007

Robbie Williams is writing new songs and feeling happier after completing his treatment for addiction to prescription drugs. The Potteries superstar checked himself out of the Cottonwood De Tucson rehab centre last week, saying the environment was making it difficult for him to progress.

But he has continued to receive treatment at his LA home with visits from a therapist. .

The singer is now nearing the final stages of a five-week programme he started on his 33rd birthday last month at the clinic, which is based in the Arizona desert.

His sister, Sally Williams, said: "He's doing all right. He's still continuing his therapy. It's an ongoing process and he's sticking to it.

"He's a lot brighter in himself, I think he's feeling a lot happier about his life. He's far more positive in his outlook.

"My mum has been with him. She says he's turned a corner and he's much better and more positive.

"We can't ask for much more than that."

As Robbie recovers from his dependency on prescription drugs, his latest single, She's Madonna - the third release from his album Rudebox - is at number 16 in the UK charts.

He is also in line to scoop a gong as best male artist in the Australian MTV awards, on April 29.

Sally added: "He hasn't got anything planned at the moment, but the most important thing is that he looks after himself.

"He doing a lot of writing, he's still very creative. I know he's been very productive with his writing.

"Robert plays guitar, he's self-taught, but he's very proficient. He does write with a guitar, and he'll play chords and work out the melody.

"He collaborates with other people on his writing, but he pretty much writes all his own lyrics."

Among those writing with Robbie are Stephen Duffy, Kelvin Andrews and Danny Spencer, from Stoke-on-Trent, who make up renowned dance act Soul Mekanik.

Robbie's mum Jan Williams is currently staying with her son in LA, but is due to fly back to North Staffordshire this week.

Robbie fan Chris Reeves, aged 55, of Hartshill, who herself beat an addiction to prescription drugs, said: "I can't put into words how pleased I am Robbie is feeling better. I'm ecstatic, I really am.

"I want the old Robbie back. All the money in the world doesn't make any difference, it is how you feel in yourself.

"I think it is harder for Robbie, because he is so much in the public eye.

"But I'm so pleased. He must be starting to feel like his old self, and I'm really pleased he's writing."

:arrr: :arrr:

I cannot stand such remarks. They say it like he has just left TT. He has been the biggest star in the UK for the past 11 years and has sold more albums in the Uk then any other British solo acts in history.

Exactly. As if he just left TT  that just drives me up a pole. He's been out off TT for over 10 years and what's this current pop favourite thing about ?! he's been a current pop favourite for 10 years running. Unbelievable. They just wipe away 10 years of an amazing career and hard work

OWEN: 'WILLIAMS SHOULD RETIRE TO A HAPPY LIFE'

TAKE THAT star MARK OWEN believes his former bandmate ROBBIE WILLIAMS should retire from pop and just enjoy life, because the music industry has taken its toll on the singer. Williams, 33, completed a stay in a rehab clinic in Arizona earlier this month (MAR07) to tackle his addictions to caffeine and prescription medicine. But Owen knows Williams won't heed his advice - because he lives for the stage. He says, "Sometimes I think he should go off and live a happy life. But he won't because he loves entertaining - and he's good at it."

'UK won't win Eurovision'

http://www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,2001320...7120416,00.html

LAST year’s British Eurovision entry Daz Sampson has claimed that not even Robbie Williams could win it for the UK.

Daz, who came a miserable 19th, has predicted the UK will do just as bad this year.

“I don’t think it is a song competition anymore,” he said. “It is a TV spectacle and you have to merge the two.

“I tried to do it last year but obviously wasn’t successful. Because it is more TV-led these days it is all about ratings and the more bizarre and out there you are the more chance you have of winning.

“I don’t think I would have done anything different. You can’t put guns to people’s heads and force them to vote for us.

“The same thing will probably happen again this year and the UK will probably moan about it.”

Viewers will be asked to choose Britain’s entry on a special BBC1 programme tomorrow night, with former Darkness frontman Justin Hawkins and East 17 singer Brian Harvey amongst those battling it out.

Daz has backed Justin, but even if he gets through he doesn’t reckon he will do very well.

“He is a frontman and he could put on a very good show,” Daz said. “But I think the best we can hope for is 19th. Even if we had Robbie Williams we would probably still struggle.”

BLACK EYED PEAS star FERGIE says ROBBIE WILLIAMS is 'doing great' after a stint in rehab for prescription drugs.

The pair bumped into each other while partying in Los Angeles last week and the striking singer told me: "We'll all got to face our demons at some point but Robbie is doing great. He'll come back stronger from all of this. That boy knows how to pack out arenas."

You can hear the full interview and listen to three Fergie tracks - including a SPANDAU BALLET cover - in this week's Bizarre podcast.

I've also got exclusive sessions from three great music acts - rockers JET, Aussie newcomers ANGUS AND JULIA STONE and the Beatlesy RICHARD SWIFT.

Re the Eurovision Song Contest, I think Daz is right, we will probably never win this again, no matter if we had the best song ever sung by the best live act ever.

Who is Fergie? I thought it meant the Duchess of York.

Never thought of him lol.

Susie you almost made me choke on my weetabix when I read that, and I now have a vision of Rob boogieing at Hyde with Sarah Ferguson

Fergie is the girl singer in the Black Eyed Peas, and she was recently stopped from boarding a flight from LA to London as she was unfit to fly.

PS Justin for Eurovision

This is Fergie http://fergie.blackeyedpeas.com/

She's part of The Black Eyed Peas and is now doing solo stuff with her own album out.

I am pleased to see Fergie is sort of a Duchess..it says so on the title of the album lol.

I like her, I think she and Rob would get on well. Too bad she's taken.

Robbie Williams To Be Sued By Rehab Clinic?

Robbie Williams is being threatened with legal action by the rehab centre he likened to a “concentration campâ€.

The popstar left America’s Cottonwood de Tucson clinic early last week and heavily criticised the facilty for it’s strict regime, claiming it was "worse than a concentration camp".

However, now a source at the clinic tells the Daily Star Sunday, “We're one of the most respected rehabs in the world and what this man has said is outrageous.

“Board members have taken legal advice and have been told they have a defamation case against him. Everyone on staff is backing their action 100-per-cent.

Justin Hawkins is trying for the Eurovision Song Contest ... ? :o

I don't know why anyone who is already an established artist would want to do that, it can only ruin your reputation.

BTW, for Germany Roger Cicero will enter the competition. Guess what's his style... SWING

It seems like everyone is doing it nowadays. I hope people won't forget who was the man who did it first before everyone else... <_<
