I'm really happy he won it. :yahoo:

But, some strange things were yesterday evening on ECHO. <_<

First Robbie didn't won for best DVD, and second I was waiting all night to see award for best male and they didn't even show it.

Robbie Wins Echo Award

Beating off the competition, Robbie scoops an award for Rudebox...

Robbie's latest album, Rudebox, last night bagged him the International Artist Of The Year award at Germany's Echo Awards.

The prestigious ceremony, which took place in Berlin, saw Robbie come out on top, beating stiff competition from Justin Timberlake, Meatloaf and Jack Johnson.

You can read more about the album, watch video clips and sample the tracks now, over in the Music and Video section on RobbieWilliams.com .

Has Rudebox sold more in Germany than in the UK or is it about equal?

With two awards each, Canadian group Billy Talent, and German-language acts Silbermond and La Fee were the big winners Sunday night at the 16th annual Echo Awards, held at Berlin`s Palais am Funkturm.

Atlantic/Warner-signed Billy Talent won for newcomer international and rock alternative international.

Silbermond took out the best live act national category, and hit of the year national/international for their single "Das Beste" (Columbia/Sony BMG). La Fee received awards for artist national rock/pop and newcomer national.

Local duo Rosenstolz (Island/Universal) won the group national rock/pop category on the night, while German-language swing-singer Roger Cicero (starwatch/Warner) was victorious in the male artist category.

Cicero`s producers Frank Ramond and Matthias Hass, represented by the music publisher peermusic in Hamburg, were honored with the producer echo.

Red Hot Chili Peppers won the group international rock/pop section, while Robbie Williams claimed the international artist title. Katie Melua collected the female international rock/pop artist award, and Pink Floyd the best music DVD.

German trumpet-player Till Bronner took out the jazz-production national/international category. The band Sportfreunde Stiller took home the rock/alternative national echo. Popular boyband Tokio Hotel was honored with an Echo for best video national for the single "Letzter Tag" (Island/Universal).

Andrea Berg won the German-speaking MOR/schlager category, and the act Kastelruther Spatzen won the German language volksmusik category. Echos for hip-hop/R&B international and national went to Eminem and Berlin`s Bushido, respectively. Munich-based German composer and producer Ralph Siegel, owner of the Sony BMG-distributed independent label Jupiter Records, received the lifetime achievement Echo in recognition of the 2,000-plus songs he has composed over a 30-year career. Siegel`s song "Ein bisschen Frieden", performed by Nicole, won the 1982 Eurovision Song Contest, a competition in which his works have appeared 17 times.

The singer Yusuf, formerly known as Cat Stevens, was feted with the contribution to the music industry honor, a special prize for his career-long achievement as musician and ambassador between cultures.

The Cologne TV station RTL broadcast the two-hour show with a two-hour delay.

The 24-category national awards gala has been presented every year since 1992. It costs the German record industry more than €2 million ($2.67 million) to stage, according to estimates in the industry.

Has Rudebox sold more in Germany than in the UK or is it about equal?

Both shipped at least 600,000 to both countries, but UK sales are in general bigger than Germany but no Germany over the counter sales are ever made official. Actual sales in the UK are between 480-500k, but if you compare the chart runs then it has obviously been more succesful in ther Germany, especially the singles. ^_^

UK: 1-2-9-14-20-25-27-28-29-36-47-56 (12 weeks in chart)

GER: 1-1-1-4-8-14-21-24-20-15-29-29-37-38-39-30-20-19-29-37 (20 weeks in charts, 20 weeks top 40)
