Spalletti leans on Totti to fire Roma past Lyon

tribalfooball.com - March 06, 2007

Roma coach Luciano Spalletti is banking on skipper Francesco Totti to fire them into the last eight of the Champions League tonight against Lyon.

"I'm expecting a great performance from Totti because he wants to do well given the importance that this game has for his own city," stated Spalletti on Monday evening.

"This tie is fundamental for our club's future history, a game which will be difficult against such a great side.

"But I'm hopeful as I know my players well and am aware of how much this competition means to them.

"We need to play well for the whole game without thinking about the first leg. We will require personality and have to make use of our attacking nature when given an opportunity to do so."

Roma dropped 16 points behind Inter over the weekend after the 1-1 draw with bottom of the table Ascoli and rumours suggested that Spalletti was unhappy with some of his men's efforts.

"I did not scold anyone after the match and I never said that the team did not give its all," he said.

"I was not mad with the individual players, I only explained what I didn't like about the team's performance."

Barcelona's Ronaldinho to wear "spectacular" new boots at Liverpool

tribalfooball.com - March 06, 2007

Barcelona star Ronaldinho will release his new boots tonight at Liverpool.

In front of a worldwide television audience, Ronaldinho will wear for the first time his newly designed Nike boots, replacing the traditional black pair he has been wearing this year.

The new pair have been described as "spectacular" and will boast colours of beige and blue, with an overwhelming yellow Nike swoosh highlighting Ronaldinho's merchandise partners.

Ronaldinho has told close friends he's confident the new boots will bring him the luck in front of Pepe Reina's goal that has deserted him in recent weeks.

Liverpool 10 shots to Barcelona's very lame 1, which i don't even remember happening

Ronaldinho is finished unless he loses 3 stones, their defence is soooo rubbish too!

I keep flicking between the two. Both are really boring though :|

Both English teams through, sadly

Want the next 2 to qualify tomorrow

i want any of the f***ers in the last 8, don't care which of the 3.

Liverpool should of won the game on the night. With the exception of about 15 minutes we were totally on top of Barca, just a shame for all those chances we had, not one person could put one away. Still roll on the quarter finals! :D
Kuyts not good enough for a top team, or the cl, imo

I think he is, he's just very wasteful at times. He was being played out of position tonight anyway by Benitez. Yeah some games he can be great, others he can be about as good as a donkey.

remember what people said about Drogba ;)

anything that brings tears to Ronaldinho's eyes, brings tears of joy to mine :D :yahoo:

Come on Arsenal tonight :D I reckon 3-1 Arsenal.

all British clubs come on :cheer:

be a guaranteed England v England or Battle of Britain tie in the qtrs if that happens :D

I agree with that, probably because i honestly think we can eliminate Man Utd, Liverpool, Celtic and maybe even Chelsea over 2 legs (i doubt many others will agree with that sentence :P )

Arsenal have to get out of the habit of conceding first at the Emirates, they're f***ed if they do!

I agree with that aswell, if they score first i still think we'll win, but maybe only 2-1, and a 2-1 win is useless :(
