Posted March 11, 200718 yr THE British National party (BNP) is heading for record gains in the May local elections, reflecting high levels of concern among voters about immigration. The anti-immigration party, which has 53 local councillors, is set to at least double its representation, according to Professor Michael Thrasher of Plymouth University’s Elections Centre. “They are gaining real votes,†he said. “It does look as though people aren’t reticent about voting for them any more. Unlike in the past, it’s no longer one man and a dog.†Searchlight, the anti-fascist organisation which is running a “Stop the BNP†campaign for the local elections, has warned that the party poses a threat in 93 separate wards in the UK. Thrasher said that 93 potential gains may not be an overestimate given the BNP’s recent showing in council by-elections. Phil Edwards, a BNP spokesman, said that the party did not have a target for seat gains in the local elections but attacked Searchlight’s “Stop the BNP†campaign as being undemocratic. He also criticised David Cameron, the Tory leader, for bowing to political pressure in sacking Patrick Mercer, his homeland security spokesman, for alleged racist comments. While the BNP has been gaining support at the expense of Labour, it is also picking up some support from the Tories. The BNP has been successful in attracting white working-class voters, particularly in depressed former industrial areas. Its vote tends to be highest in areas adjacent to those with large ethnic minority populations.
March 11, 200718 yr I hate the BNP with a passion, but their popularity rise is inevitable when you have the three main parties pussyfooting around the vital immigration issue.
March 11, 200718 yr I don't consider immigration to be an important issue, as many people leave Britain each year for other countries as arrive here, Britain is a multi cultural society England has a German royal family, a Scottish prime minister and worships a Palestinian patron saint
March 12, 200718 yr immigration is a major issue amongst ordinary brits, its all right for you craig in london spouting off about being multicultural, but the grass roots of the uk are considering voting bnp as a protest. you cant have a free for all, you cant fill this tiny island with anybody, and no there arnt as many leaving as entering. the population here is too big, look at the problems of travel, schooling, dentists even!! many ordinary people are being pushed too far by the pc lobby, something going to give.

You can balance the negatives against the positives such as more demand for housing hence higher profits for house owners, more goods being bought in the shops, more food purchased and grown, more cars being bought, more people in work and paying tax, for every negative there is 2 positives. We can easily say "Sorry, whites only" but we can look forward to hyper inflation and massive rises in taxes as the government makes up the revenue shortfall Edited March 12, 200718 yr by Vic Vega
March 12, 200718 yr Oh FFS <_< There are far too many idiots who do not realise that a vote for the BNP brings in a bit more than regulations against immigrants. I'm certain that the vast majority of them could not name a single BNP policy other than their policy on immigration -_- That said, I have to agree that the major players do need to clear up any uncertainty and give a straight answer to some of the problems that immigration brings. The benefits from immigration into this country are too great for BNP-esque answers though :manson:
March 12, 200718 yr I think there are too many immigrants, we're over populated as it is. Soon there will be more immigrants than British people.
March 12, 200718 yr I think there are too many immigrants, we're over populated as it is. Soon there will be more immigrants than British people. With respect that last point is totally incorrect, atm immigrants make up less than 3% of the population with a further 5% being blacks and asians who were born here so the chances of 51%+ immigrants from a starting base of 3% won't happen in my lifetime and probably not yours too, its a myth that we are over run with immigrants 3% is nothing Edited March 12, 200718 yr by Vic Vega

March 12, 200718 yr I hate the BNP with a passion, but their popularity rise is inevitable when you have the three main parties pussyfooting around the vital immigration issue. I think this is probably true and it should be every pluralist democrat's nightmare. The same thing happens in France every election when the digusting fascist LePen gets a third of the vote based solely on his virulent anti-immigration stance.
March 13, 200718 yr Just seems like there's more than 3%. It seems that way because you're listening to to the sh!te the Tabloids spout.... They completely distort the whole issue....
March 13, 200718 yr look at the problems of travel, schooling, dentists even!! You think any of that is the fault of immigrants...? Please Rob, you are so totally wrong there... Dentists are not leaving the NHS because of immigrants ffs, they are leaving because of a GOVT POLICY which ties them up in so much fukkin' red tape and beaurocracy that private practice seems a lot more attractive, schooling is a problem because of GOVT POLICY which does not fund schools equally and this whole myth of 'parental choice' (yeah, try telling that to the parents in Brighton who are basically in the position of being in what amounts to a sodding raffle to decide whether or not their kids actually get in the school of their choice or not) and all this nonsense of 'league tables' which does nothing to actually improve schools which are 'failing', quite the opposite in fact... We should go back to the days of 'local schools for local kids', it was good enough for me to go to the school that was only 5 MINUTES FUKKIN' WALK from where I lived. And the most fukked up situation of this whole thing is that many kids who DO live near to a school often cant get into it because of people coming in from outside an area.... <_< The whole 'local schools for local kids' idea would also have the added benefit of cutting down on traffic congestion as well, as the 'school run' would be a thing of the past - make the little buggers WALK ffs.... And travel..? Again the fault of Govts (past and present) for not actually funding public transport adequately, selling off the buses, selling off the trains, etc.....
March 13, 200718 yr Immigrants come here because they know they will get a cosy free house In Australia they chucked immigrants into the sea when they tried to go there.
March 13, 200718 yr my friend voted the BNP , I doubt I will vote at all. Im moving to USA in 3 years anyway
March 13, 200718 yr my friend voted the BNP , I doubt I will vote at all. Im moving to USA in 3 years anyway So, you will, in effect be an immigrant in a country founded on immigration... And here you are criticising other immigrants who, like you, want to make a better life for themselves and their families.... Concept of 'irony'... Totally lost on you innit...? Dont suppose it's actually occurred to you that the West is actually responsible for much of its own immigration 'problem'... We totally exploit workers and farmers in Third World countries, keep people there ignorant and poor, and then wonder why they might actually think the grass is greener......

But why do they come to Britain? There are other countries, its probably because we are a soft touch
March 13, 200718 yr But why do they come to Britain? There are other countries, its probably because we are a soft touch Oh ffs... There are just as many immigrants in France as there are here... LOADS of North Afrcans (mainly from former FRENCH colonies...).... Stop endlessly parrotting what the tabloids spout and actually do some bloody research.....
March 13, 200718 yr yes but Im actually going to get a job INNIT , we have so many immigrants here now, granted some of them do work and contribute and many if them do nothing and yet can still afford a house  Its like this Polish man who has moved in across the road about a year ago and he can't speak English and has no job  Polish people aren't immigrants as such, in case you hadn't noticed Poland's in the EU now, so it's in effect no different from me moving from Scotland to England... I dont hear anyone talk sh!t about the loads of Spanish, Germans, Scandinavians or French living here.... <_< My former flatmate was a lazy layabout hippie, stoner who couldn't hold down a job... And FRENCH!!! And it's a hell of a lot more than some immigrants that work, I think you'll find that it's the vast majority, and they're doing the jobs you sure as hell wouldn't do..... And I dont suppose you're aware of this, but when a person actually claims asylum, they are not actually allowed by the Govt to find a job while their claim is being processed.... Yeah, totally fukked up innit...? So, in many ways, it's the fault of the system if there are a lot of immigrants who dont have jobs. And there are quite a lot of asylum seekers who have very much sought after skills, which they are not being allowed to use - people who were doctors, nurses, teachers, etc in their own countries are being told that they're not allowed to work... Stupid....
March 13, 200718 yr Most of the immigrants are far more hard working than British people. They work for less, do jobs we don't want to do and will work harder. It's hardly a surprise if more people come here. And even if they earn say half as much as we do, it's still likely to be a damn site more than they'd get in their origin country...
