no surprises that every review for this film has mentioned Jacques Tati in the review, however dont think anyone mentioned Roberto Benigni who's 'Oscar walk over the chairs in the theatre Bean copies. Actually i think Benigni should have have played Rowan's character in Rat Race (maybe the creatives came to the same conclusion) would have been better than Pinocchio

Before this dire celebration of imbecility cleans up at the box-office its only area of contention will be the creepy "friendship" Bean strikes up with a teenage boy en route to the south of France. Is Rowan Atkinson's gurning, mugging man-child-twit actually a secret paedophile?

 

Well, that's arguable; what's absolutely clear is that neither star nor screenwriters could contrive a single laugh in the course of 85 purgatorial minutes. Bean offers a homage to Jacques Tati in his slapstick misadventures, though given that he's neither comic genius nor silent - check out that unearthly croak he affects - one can imagine Tati's ghost performing a unique variation on turning in his grave. It would be a funnier place to hang out than watching this movie.

 

actually tbh it made me giggle and snigger for ages, but this was because i had seen the Woodsman with Kevin Bacon and i was also 'analysing' and recognised the dodgy undercurrents of the friendship between young boy and obv kiddie fiddler Bean :lol: .

Dafoe's fake art movie looked a damned sight funnier than the one I was watching.

 

and i think i would have liked Carson Clay's (Willem Dafoe's) pretentious art movie more if it was a real film rather than this (reminded me bizzarrely of the consequences of love at the beginning)

 

but bean: its a rubbish film, but to give it respect its not as awful as Norbit and Emma de Caunes is cute and French :wub: . but obv eurotrash is one thing utter trash another

but dont bother spending any cash to see this film, spend your money at hmv and buy a copy of Pee-wee's Big Adventure by Tim Burton instead.

I am a HUGE Rowan Atkinson and Mr Bean fan and own both the first film 'Bean' and all the episodes on DVD. I've not yet seen his new film though. I would appreiciate it if someone could give me a review of it. Thanks.

I own all the episodes and the film on DVD too JON. :D I love them, especially the episodes. I haven't seen this new film yet however my mate said it's not very good, but had him in stitches at a few moments. ^_^

I went to see it last night and yeah it isn't a fantastic film but it isn't bad. It has some funny moments although imo is slightly too childlike and the first film was a million times better and had much more dialogue in however I felt overall it was a pretty decent, enjoyable film.

I saw this tonight. It's enjoyable with a good few really funny parts. But it's not 'laugh a minute' by any means.

I was a huge fan of Rowan Atkinson's back in the day, Not the Nine o Clock News, Blackadder..... Marvellous... BUT, Mr Bean is just about the worst ever comedy creation Britain has come up with... I'd prefer a sequel to "Johnny English" than have to suffer the hell of actually watching another "Mr Bean" film..... Mr Bean is JUST NOT FUNNY, and it NEVER WAS....... This role has damaged Atkinson's comedy reputation forever... How can you go from Blackadder to Bean...? Well, mind you, has John Cleese done anything of that much worth since Monty Python and Fawltey Towers...?? Not really tbh....

 

And, erm, before anyone says "Fish Called Wanda", just ask yourself, whose is the most memorable performance from that film..? Kevin Kline perhaps...?
