Hawkins slams 'racist, xenophobic or stupid' public

Justin fears Eurovision may have been a "stitch up"

Eurovision loser Justin Hawkins says Saturday's contest was a "stitch-up" and branded the British public "either racist, xenophobic or stupid" for choosing Scooch.

The former frontman for glam rock band The Darkness partnered black singer Beverlei Brown on his entry They Don't Make 'Em Like They Used To.

Viewers of BBC1's Making Your Mind Up show saw him storm off stage when the pair were voted off.

Hip-hop act Big Brovaz also lost out to Scooch.

On his website, Justin raged: "The United Kingdom must be either racist or stupid not to have voted for Big Brovaz or Beverlei Brown (she looked and sounded fantastic). While Cyndi was much better singer and performer than Scooch with a much better song, but she's French, so there was no way she was going to win the public vote in the final head to head"

"It's like when multi-award winning, multi-million selling Lemar lost to David '3 stars at Burger King' Sneddon in Fame Academy all those years ago. Nothing ever changes.

"The whole thing whiffed of a stitch-up, particularly when you consider that our supporters had their banners confiscated by security, whilst Scooch fans were filmed proudly waving theirs.

"When Big Brovas were eliminated, my heart sank and I thought, 'the dream is over.' I was right."

The BBC countered the star's claims of bias.

"No banners were confiscated. All banners were checked for inappropriate language but none were removed," a spokeswoman said.

Do you agree with Justin or is he just a bad loser?

 What a t***. That makes me hold all the more respect for Cyndi for graciously bowing out and admitting she came second and all the less for Hawkins who's just a bad loser. :)
I think he has a point actually, the british public have always been racist when it came to Reality shows, how Lemar didn't win Fame Academy I don't know, it took X Factor into basically fixing it so Leona won like they always when they pick the one they think should win. Scooch were actually the worst in there by far. -_-
It wasn't that long ago since Leona won ya know...
I know but as I said they basically fixed it to make sure she'd win like they did with Shayne Ward.

Oh I didn't see you'd said that.

Soar loser...

He's just gone and sterotyped Britain as a racist country? I guess he'd be including himself in that stereotype then...

Yeah Scooch are awful. The type of tacky and cheesy track that is wrong in every way possible yet the British public seem to love it? It'll perform awful at Eurovision, but so would most of the tracks and I don't think the majority of people care how well we do in Eurovision now seen as it's more corrupt than Italian football, well at least I know I don't.

Hawkins song and performance were both shockingly bad, so it's little wonder he lost.... I had to laugh when he had a queeny strop and flounced off the stage, though....

Scooch are appalling, and Big Brovaz were robbed - end of story, I think.

I'm pretty sure it wasnt anything to do with race just the song itself, Scooch had been tipped by Wogan on Radio2 as the song which should be sent to Eurovision and so you got all their listeners following Wogan's lead and voting it through. Big Brovaz were I think undoubtedly the most innovative and correct in their reflection of what would do well in the British music industry today the trouble is they dont have the same mass appeal as they a bit intimidating - not a middle age middle class vote winner (especially not when compared to a bit of camp pop).

Justin is being a bit OTT but he's that kind of guy - what ya gonna do?

I agree - i dont think we are knowingly racist but subconsciously we always seem to vote for the performer over the singer if its a choice between a white or a black artists. J&B and Big Brovaz had both performance and good vocals, but lost out to the dreadful Scooch who had neither.
The British public are stupid for voting for Scooch. Who on Earth wants to hear a stack of sh!t song about going on an aeroplane and wanting to know where the exits are :puke2: I hate that guy in the song that goes "would you like a drink with that" THEY SHOULD BE NOT ALLOWED BACK IN THE COUNTRY SCOOCH THEY DON'T WIN!
I'm still gutted that the big brovaz didn't win from their performance on the night, i do think that a large percentage of the uk's general public are rasict, it is present in every day like, not a day goes by when i don't hear someone being racist about some ethnic background. I do think that justin is just being a sore loser tho.
Hawkins & Brown were robbed imo  i love that song

well i didn't watch the eurovision show, although i think he's got a point tbh.

NOW I THINK ITS TIME FOR EVRYONE TO SEE THE "REAL COMMENT"

This was posted by Justin himself on his website:

I left Vancouver to follow my eurovision dream, but was outclassed ultimately by the magical Scooch on March 17th 2007. My 32nd birthday. On the morning of the show, I did a really irritating interview with some silly cow off BBC News 24. Her first question was, "So, you said recently that you wanted to be like Cliff Richard..." to which I replied, "No, I said that I wanted to enter Eurovision every year so that my entry would become a tradition, much like Cliff's Christmas song." Then she asked, "So, will your costume be a surprise or will it be catsuits and tiaras?" to which I said "Yes, catsuits and tiaras". Finally, she asked "So, your Eurovision song is a bit more poppy than we're used to from you - does that mean that all of your music will be in this middle-of-the-road direction" to which I replied despairingly, "Yes." Ask a stupid question and I'll give you a stupid answer. It is now 10 past 6 on Monday afternoon, and I just took a call from BBC News 24 asking if I'd be available to do anything with them about Saturday's c**k-up. "No" was the obvious answer. The United Kingdom must be either racist or stupid not to have voted for Big Brovas or Beverlei Brown (she looked and sounded FANTASTIC). BREAKING NEWS Radio 1 Newsbeat have regurgitated that last comment, but chosen to change my quote to include me as well as Big Brovas and Beverlei Brown - typical! It's like when multi-award winning, multi-million selling Lemar lost to David "3 stars at Burger King" Sneddon in Fame Academy all those years ago. Nothing ever changes. That fella off Doctor Who that looks like a fat Tom Cruise was offering expert analysis on the entrants, and encouraged the voting public to send Scooch to Eurovision. He then had the nerve to come into my dressing room and "act" surprised by the result. I don't know who he is or why he thought I'd be interested in his commiserations. I certainly don't understand how he got an acting job. I thought I could see his nose growing when he said he couldn't believe the sing-off wasn't between us and Big Brovas... The whole thing whiffed of a stitch-up, particularly when you consider that our supporters had their banners confiscated by security, whilst Scooch fans were filmed proudly waving theirs. BREAKING NEWS!!! The BBC have released a statement claiming that they dit not confiscate any banners - it seems my myspace is being subjected to close national scrutiny! Mr. Chips is the real victim. He reckons Scooch nicked Crystal David's tuba riff in Magnet Watch's Chrome Norris. He's inconsoleable, Mr. BBC - what do you say to that? When Big Brovas were eliminated, my heart sank and I thought, "The dream is over." I was right. Never mind that $h!t - Nikki, one of the JHWI founders, has fallen down the stairs and currently lies in hospital with a leg that is broken in three places. Please visit the JHWI site, and send her some healing vibes.

 What a t***. :)

was a t*** in the darkness, now a t*** in eurovision. will always be a t***.

Hawkins may be a bit of a tw@t, but frankly he has a point about the 'great' British public and the sheep-like mentality that permeates our culture... One can only attribute the fact that Scootch won the damn thing to a shocking bout of absolute stupidity and horrendous bad taste... <_<

Justin Hawkins.

I'll save a long long reply and just sum up my opinion of this man and his musical creations past, present and future with a simple :puke:

Big Brovaz should've won but I just think the UK public represent Eurovision with Cheese tbh.

Scooch reminds me sadly of the Fast Food Rockers :(
