This should be stopped, or at least killed in way in which doesn't bring them pain. The way in which they kill the dolphins in that video and just leave them in stress without properly killiing them is just horrid :( ... PLEASE DO NOT WATCH IF SQUEEMISH OR EASILY OFFENDED.

Do you think the yearly dolphin killings in japan should be stopped?

Kills dogs and cats by boiling them alive in pots is one example of the appalling cruelty of the chinese nation towards animals,

omg :o why do they do that??

It's easy for us to have a go at Japan or China and what they do, but really I dont see much difference between that and what happens in places like the Govt-sanctioned Huntington Life Sciences tbh... What's the diff between experimenting on animals for our Western medicines and what the Chinese or Japanese do with their own herbalist traditions..?

And, I've seen plenty of videos just as disturbing and sickening of sh!t that goes on in some British battery farms and abbatoirs... So let's not make out that we are somehow more 'civilised' in our own treatment of animals... Sure, we have laws, which are, lets face it, incredibly lenient and are rarely properly enforced...

Exactly!

I don´t agree killing an animal for medicine purpouses is the same as killing just for fun and causing the maximum pain as possible. I don´t put "herbalist traditions" in the same level as real medicine, be it western or not.

i cant watch that vid, i'm not even goin to try

dolphins are one of my fav animals and i saw them in the wild bout 18 months ago when i went tenerife, they were great, swam up to the boat and they even look up to see whos looking at them, its so cute.......cant understand why anyone would want to kill them

That's just typical snobbery, cultural imperialism and ignorance really, and the sort of ill-informed sh!te that keeps marijuana for medicinal purposes illegal when it's perfectly okay to shoot a person full of morphine (which is a thousand times more addictive and a lot more damaging to a person's physiology) for pain management and relief .. <_< Herbal remedies existed a LOT longer than modern medicine, and a lot of herbal remedies are every bit as effective, some are actually a lot less damaging to the body than modern drugs... The herbal cures for headaches, backpain, etc are just as effective as paracetomol, aspirin, ibuprofen, etc....

What a stupid thing to say... So, if an animal is 'cute' then we can't kill it...? But it's perfectly okay to kill animals that aren't cute then....? As the American comedian Denis Leary said in a famous routine he did about dolphins being caught in tuna nets "But hey, what about the tuna..? Ahh, fukk 'em, they taste good...".

You're seriously going to judge an entire culture based upon what a tiny minority of bloody Japanese Fishermen get up to...? <_<

Oh give me a break. Obviously it's dolphins that induce this response. Imagine if they had been sharks - an extremely similar species and yet few people would be offended. And the reponse... "they kill dogs and cats in China" just proves that people only feel empathy for "cute" animals.

Look, I eat meat and I believe that forces me to adopt a standpoint that killing animals for food is ethical. I believe EVERYONE who eats meat thus adopts this same attitude. Similarly, I can't say that killing a cute dolphin for food is worse than killing a cow for food just because ol' Flipper saved the drowning boy in a 1963 film.

The nerve of you people lambasting fishermen who kill the dolphins. Want me to find a video of cows being slaughtered? How about baby cows? Or chickens raised in deplorable filth and with unspeakable genetic mutations so you can enjoy that KFC? If you're a vegetarian, I respectfully omit you from my criticism and admire you. But for anyone else, it's ridiculous.

never said that at all

i said that they were cute when i saw them in tenerife, not that only cute animals should be saved

i love all animals and want to work with them some day
