March 21, 200718 yr Fair enough for a philosophical justification I suppose, but it's still killing animals, isn't it? And anyway it doesn't work for rabbit, duck, turkey, most fish... I accept killing animals for food that are species that are naturally bred for food as part of life, my only concern is that the animals are treated well, have good living conditions while they are alive and are killed in the most humane way possible, killing animals for food I accept as part of life animal cruelty I despise with a passion
March 21, 200718 yr Author Yeah but the difference is dolphins are highly intelligent animals, where as cows aren't and cows are cute! But they don't have a knife stuck in their head and poked about for a bit until they die do they? I only really eat chicken, sometimes pork, oh and burgers :( But if saw a video of someone killing the animals, it would put me off eating meat... but then again, it is rather tasty :(
March 21, 200718 yr But they don't have a knife stuck in their head and poked about for a bit until they die do they? No, cows hang upside down whilst they get their throat slit...
March 21, 200718 yr You're right, I shouldnt have made that analogy... but still, it's not like most people have qualms about eating beef, pork, venison, lamb, etc. Exactly... Venison = Deer = cute, doe-eyed little creature = BAMBI..... Oh my fukkin' GOD, we're eating Bambi!!!!!! Quick, somebody call the cops..... Pork = Cute little piggy = BABE!!!!! Come on folks, we are fukkin' hypocrites.... I am not a vegetarian, therefore I don't feel that I really have any real moral right to judge what others do for what they deem is sustenance....

Humans are omnivores at the end of the day, we need protein, the best source of that is meat, fish, eggs, etc.... So, really, let's stop all this moralistic judgement of people's diets.... I aint gonna be made to feel guilty about eating meat, although I do make sure that it's free range and from a reputable butcher... I don't believe in unnecessary cruelty, but to lambast people just because they eat dog or dolphin or horse meat is something I feel is highly judgemental and completely self-righteous...
March 22, 200718 yr to be honest I think you go to over the top with your political correctness, that sees every criticism to another country or culture as some type of vile prejudice. Well, in a way, it kind of is... We're pointing and saying "Oh, look at those funny foreigners and their uncivilised ways". When you get people saying 'well, I'm not going to Japan because a few fishermen kill dolphins', I cant see how else you can interpret that tbh... And, yeah, like in this country, or your own, there aren't things every bit as vile going on..... You remember that infamous picture of the mouse onto which some so-called "doctor" grafted a human ear...?? That didn't happen in some far flung, funny little corner of the world, that happened in a lab in Europe... As far as I'm concerned that is every bit as inhumane and totally fukked up as skinning a dog alive, just because it's done by some doctor under the incredibly dubious caveat of "medical science" (yeah, I'm REAL sure grafting a fukkin ear onto a mouse is gonna find a fukkin' cure for Cancer or Parkinsons eh...? <_< ) does not make it any more moral or any less inhumane... And then the same people who justify vivisection are the ones who make the most noises against stem cell research...
March 23, 200718 yr I don´t need to point japanese and chinese to say foreigner... Americans and british are foreigner to me too. We´re not talking about the japanese nation itself but just about something that is happening there, just like we talk in many other threads about stuff that happen in Britain, USA, etc. It´s mad to say we can´t condemn a particular vile action just because it happened in a different culture and it must be xenophobia.

But some people ARE judging an entire culture on the actions of these few individuals, that's the point.... Would you want people saying that all Brazilians are uncivilised, evil people because some sections of the police force are going around shooting street children in Rio, Sao Paolo, etc....?
