The legendary Bill Hicks..... Significantly MORE than just a comedian... A great thinker of our modern times, scourge of the American Christian Right, Bush (Sr) -baiter extraordinaire, and all-round Cool Muthafukka.... It was really because of him that Comedy became the "New Rock and Roll" in the early 90s, and although he died in 1994, he still casts a very long shadow indeed over contemporary comedians, I have personally heard many of his skits, ideas and routines ripped off almost verbatim by significantly lesser comic talents....

Other faves of mine include Richard Pryor, Eddie Izzard, Jack Dee, Ben Elton (back in the day though, in his Channel 4 glory, before he became a dirty sell-out..), Paul Merton, French and Saunders, Reeves and Mortimer, Mitchell and Webb, Rob Newman...

French and Saunders, Rik and Ade pretty much all those from the comic strip gang.

And Peter Cook, the man was hilarious, "Bloody Greta Garbo...."

i'm reading peter kay's book atm and its so funny, always loved peter

lee evans is ok but only in small amounts lol, he gets annoying after a while

i love rik mayall and ade edmundson too, bottom and the young ones are my fav tv shows ever

Peter Kay has made me actually cry with laughter, so he is definately top of my list.

The things he says are just so realistic, and his face makes me laugh.

Second would be Dylan Moran.

Others would be Jimmy Carr, Jack Dee, Omid Djalili, Lee Evans. Can't think of anymore at the moment.

My favourite who I is adore Dawn French, she is so very talented and a truly nice person. I also find Jimmy Carr and Catherine Tate. I also like Russell whatshisname the scottish guy who often helps with programmes such as Comic Relief.
I can't understand how anyone can like comedies where they milk the same catchphrase for 2 or 3 series

Yeah agree there, same with Little Britain I detest that series worst "comedy" have seen in long long time just so utterly predictable can see every "joke" a mile off

Series 1 was watchable, I admit I liked it. I really hate David Walliams' 'acting' and the fact that every single character looks and sounds the same.

Take the LofG for example, think of characters such as Edward, Papa Lazarou and Vinnie (charity shop). Would you believe they are all played by the same person?
