Posted March 25, 200718 yr Do you think there will be a new murder mystery to solve? One word to describe last night's england game AWFUL A team of monkeys could have played better. Croatia will go thru quite easily now, me thinks, if England can't score against Andorra on Wednesday we are out, I reckon -_- The Scots will be laughing at us
March 25, 200718 yr Yeah he is clueless but who is there to take over ? Mourinho, Wenger, Ferguson and so on would not touch England with a bargepole so that leaves the likes of Allerdyce, Coppell, Moyes, Pearce etc, not exactly inspiring choices
March 25, 200718 yr If only the FA had kept their mouths shut about approaching Scolari, we may actually be playing good football now -_-
March 25, 200718 yr If only the FA had kept their mouths shut about approaching Scolari, we may actually be playing good football now -_- Scolari can't speak English, despite his CV he has a Manuel from Fawlty Towers grasp of English and that is well known in football
March 25, 200718 yr One Name who wants to do the job: Jurgen Klinsmann. He doesn't though He turned Spurs down when we approached him pre Santini because he wants to live full time in America, he quit the German job because of the time spent away from America as much as anything else there is no way he would take the England job
March 25, 200718 yr Venables is McLaren's assistant manager already so would undoubtedly have big input O Neill would be good yes although he plays incredibly dull football
March 25, 200718 yr The thing is though at the moment, unless the FA want to pay god knows how much money to release a manager from their contract, there's barely anybody. O'Neill would have been a great choice but the FA didn't like him for some reason, probably because he was Irish most likely. Jurgen Klinsmann would be a great choice, but I highly doubt he'd take it, so for the time being I think we're stuck with McLaren unless England don't qualify, when all hell will break loose.

Apparently at the FA interviews O Neill demanded that Steve Walford be put in charge of the U21's and other O Neill assistants be put in charge of England youth teams etc basically O Neill wanted control of playing matters from top to bottom and this was unacceptable to the FA
March 25, 200718 yr Scolari can't speak English, despite his CV he has a Manuel from Fawlty Towers grasp of English and that is well known in football and Rafa Benitez isn't exactly fluent in English either. Scolari has a track record, and if the FA could have just waited until after the World Cup instead of messing everyone around close season, effecting Boro, Bolton, and everyone else's form, we would be doing far better. Hiddink would have been justa good a choice -_-

Hiddink would have been justa good a choice -_- Benitez' English is a class above Scolari's, apparently Big Phil had to talk through an interpreter when he was giving his FA interview over the position, while he may be a good tactician how is he going to motivate the team and give an inspiring half time team talk when he is having to use a translator ? it just wouldn't work. Trust me it doesn't work mate, we had exactly the same thing at Spurs with Santini who had the grasp of English of an orangutan
March 25, 200718 yr well there is no other viable option at the moment -_- fail to win against Andorra or worse, then McClaren has to go, and do we go back to the most successful manager in terms of reaching the latter stages of Euro 96 with Mr Vegetables
March 25, 200718 yr well there is no other viable option at the moment -_- fail to win against Andorra or worse, then McClaren has to go, and do we go back to the most successful manager in terms of reaching the latter stages of Euro 96 with Mr Vegetables Tel will be tarred with McLaren's brush in the same way as McLaren was tarred with Sven's brush Venables was useless when he managed you lot and Euro 96 England had home advantage so Tel's achievements there are overblown. Rather than go back to the Jurassic era with someone like Venables we need a forward thinking coach who is a good motivator, good with the media and has an excellent track record working with young players, there is only one man for me that ticks those boxes and that is Harry Redknapp, at West Ham Harry discovered the likes of Lampard, Cole, Defoe, Rio Ferdinand and at Southampton he was the one that discovered young starlets like Dyer, Bale, Walcott and so on, he is great at discovering and coaching young players, is great with the media and does not tolerate any $h!t Harry Redknapp for England manager Edited March 25, 200718 yr by Vic Vega
March 25, 200718 yr Steve Coppel would be my choice. Ever since I've followed football he's worked wonders wherever he's been. Redknapp would be a good choice too though. Well anyone would compared to McClaren. It's not all McClaren's fault, it's just as much the players fault, but we know from how they perform week in week out every saturday that they're all bloody good players, we just need someone to motivate them and get the best out of them. McClaren can clearly not do this. If we had Michael Owen it may be different, no matter what anyone says he's a cut above any other England striker, especially at international level. Having Becks in the team wouldn't do any harm either...
March 25, 200718 yr I don't know if Redknapp would take it or if the FA would even consider Redknapp. It was one name pre World Cup that didn't pop up
March 25, 200718 yr Never have so many(so called) great players achieved so little in so long a time. As a scot i'm not laughing at your football woes, we've been there ,worn the t-shirt,got the dvd, etc but it seems you just cant put the best 11 in the team, you have to put the 11 who can play best as a team.
March 25, 200718 yr problem is McClaren won't drop the big names if they're not performing. Then he tries to defend himself by saying he does, by pointing at Beckham. It has been the case since Sven took over, with his assistant in tow, that the starting 11 has to be the biggest 'celebrity names' and not the best 11 players for the positions available. Carragher for left back, please! There was Barry, Baines et al. Lennon on the left! Use Downing, get more width down the left. Put Lennon where he belongs ON THE RIGHT Gerrard where Lampard was literally sitting, and voila, getting closer to the best players for the positions -_-
March 25, 200718 yr My England team GK - Robinson RB - G Neville LB - Cole CB - Woodgate CB - Terry LM - Barry RM - Beckham CM - Carrick AMC - Lennon CF - Crouch CF - Bent Subs : GK - Foster DEF - R Ferdinand DEF - Richards MID - Lampard MID - Gerrard FWD - Johnson FWD - Rooney
March 25, 200718 yr GK - Robinson RB - G Neville LB - Asley cole CB - Woodgate or Cambell CB - Terry LM - Wayne Bridge, has proven at chelsea he can play anywhere on the left, as a fan who watches them each week i know he's better than cole but i cant seem him replacing cole sadly. RM - Beckham CM - Paul scholes (gerrard or lampard maybe) AMC - Joe Cole (Was ENglands best World cup player till the injury) Cf - Owen WF - Wright Philips Not that i could ever see this happening. Edited March 25, 200718 yr by ChapStick
