For having made no secret of her desire to date - and marry! - the Desperate Housewives gardener Jesse Metcalfe, Girls Aloud's Nadine is discovering that she might not be the only woman in his life. The Derry-born-singer - who gushed before she'd even met him, I'd marry the gardener from Desperate Housewives tomorrow if I could" - has told pals she's "devastated". She had no idea she had a rival for her dream man's affections, in the shape of Rochdale-born model Laura Shields, who lives in LA. Nadine's wish came true when she hooked up with the Desperate Housewives hunk Jesse in February, while her band were on tour in Australia, and friends say she's "smitten". And it looked like the feeling was mutual when we revealed last week that Jesse, 27, had flown to London to spend time with the singer. But Nad faces competition from former Miss England finalist Laura, who's told pals that Jesse - who she says has been seeing her for over a month - is all hers. Last week the leggy babe wrote to her friend "I'm still dating J but he had to go to England. He's back tomorrow though and I miss him!" We'd like to say he missed you too, Laura, but he spent last Wednesday night chewing the face off Nadine in London's M*ovida club, and two days later he indulged in a lot more of the same on a boozy night out at kabaret's prophecy. a close friend of Nadine's tells us: "She's made no secret of the fact that Jesse's her dream man but she tried to play it cool. When they left Oz, Jesse bombarded her with calls and texts telling her how much he missed her. She had no idea he had someone else on the go. Since finding out she's told him in no uncertain terms she won't be messed around. He's got to make up his mind." Laura has enjoyed a string of low key dates with Jesse in LA, includng cosy dinner at the plush Mr Chow restaurant just two weeks ago. And she's since made it clear to friends she thinks Jesse is hers for keeps. He certainly is one hot Love Machine, Nadine, but is this gardener digging himself into a hole?
