You say the name of the artist and someone goes ah they sang so and so, and its always the same song. Ususally they had better material, which seems to get forgotton because of one track.

For example…

The Moody Blues -- Nights in White Satin

Wet Wet Wet ---Love is all around

Boomtown rats --- I don’t like Mondays

Dexy’s Midnight Runners --Come on Eileen

Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel --Make me smile (come up and see me)

Human League --- Don’t you want me

Any more?

Yeah, I always prefered stuff like "Bedsitter", "Say Hello, Wave Goodbye" and "Sex Dwarf" to be honest....

as much as I loved Wonderful Life... I think some of the other Black singles were far better. 'Everything's Coming Up Roses' was a classic single, I thought.

In fact... what a brilliant songwriter Verncombe was. His 'Comedy' album still sounds gorgeous all these years on. I wonder what happened to him?

I did a gig with a band I was in in 1989, I think, in Cardiff's Chapter Arts Centre... and he was there, looking like he was loving it, too. Strange, as the previous night I'd been sitting watching HIM play live.... :P

Julian Cope - World Shut Your Mouth

Probably true, but there's so much more to the man than that :)

Transvision Vamp - Baby I Don't Care

Hmmm would have said this had to be "I Want Your Love"

Gotta add:

The Primitives - Crash

Republica - Ready to Go

Wonder Stuff - Size of a Cow (only one that still gets played anyway)

erm... the knack?... they are bound to be known for only one record as the other hit only reached 66!!!

I'd disagree with Pixies. Where Is My Mind and Debaser I would say moreso that HCYM

Hello russt68,

Colin is still recording as Black on his Nero Swartz record label, i think. 'Everything's Coming Up Roses' is a great record. I love that album. I like Im Not Afraid as well but i think it only got to number 78 in the RECORD MIRROR CHARTS.

Sweatest Smile was his first hit as Wonderful Life was on the Ugly Man record label first. Have you got the wea album Black from when they were a 3 piece in 84?

Orbital - Chime

EMF - Unbelievable

Bomb The Bass - Beat Dis

EMF - I BELIEVE was fabulous. I like the CHA CHA CHA album too

BOMB THE BASS - BUG POWDER DUST, WINTER IN JULY, ONE TO ONE CREATION with Carlton I think.

Sinitta - He's Gotta Be........SO MACHO!!!

PJ + Duncan - Lets Get Ready To Rumble

Sorry these are dire examples!
