I have to say, for me, 'Welcome Home' by Peters and Lee has to be a strong contender.

not mambo number 5 bri... thats good! (as a pop song, and imortalised in that royle family sketch)

most sweet soul i find utterly sickening, plus any wailing bitches like celine, mariah etc.

erm.. ill be more specific when ive thought about it and ive the time..

and far too new being a 1999 release!!! (then again i suppose the orig backing track dates back to about 1950)

My nominations are:

Knock Three Times - Tony Orlando & Dawn

Nothings Gonna Change My Love For You - Glenn Medeiros

My Heart Will Go On - Celine Dion (I quite like Celine but that is an awful song from an awful movie IMHO)

Summer (The First Time) - Bobby Goldsboro

The Streak - Ray Stevens

I'd Rather Jack - Reynolds Girls

Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini - Brian Hyland/Bombalurina

Fool Again - Westlife

Swing Your Daddy - Jim Gilstrap

Hangin' Tough - New Kids On The Block

I'd Rather Jack - Reynolds Girls

that was voted in the annoying records poll on bbc 3, but not as annoying as Arctic Monkeys or Shakira!!!

Walking on Sunshine by Katrina and the Waves

Especially when some arse DJ plays it on the first day of June and everyone gets drunk / excited.

Cliff Richard-The Millennium Prayer

Spiller-Cry Baby

Roxette-I Wish I Could Fly

Tamperer feat Maya-Feel it

Blazin' Squad-Crossroads

Cliff Richard-The Millennium Prayer

that came high up in the annoying records chart.

I would like to add, seeing as its a retro area, everything by Mika as well as Stefy and Chelsea

The absolute worst song of all time is Against All Odds - doesn't matter which version.

I would add (ignoring all the novelty rubbish that gets released) :

All Together Now - The Farm (hate it with a passion)

Uptown Girl - Both versions

Jenni from the Block (or whatever it's called) - J-Lo

Especially for You - Kylie and Jason

Wannabe - Spice Girls

Gold - Spandau Ballet

Wind of Change - Scorpions

In the Army Now - Status Quo

Hello - Lionel Richie (Not just because of the video - song absolutely sucks)

Candle in the Wind - Elton John

Earth Song - Jacko

My Herat Must Go On - Celine Dion

Couldn't choose specific Mariah/Whitney tracks as far too many to choose from but they would be there as well.

Well, apart from all those "novelty" records, which I wont even bother to mention because their inherent naffness is just so obvious anyway...., I shall focus instead on choosing what are regarded as so-called "proper" songs from "serious" artists....

Another Day In Paradise - Phil Collins (absolutely patronising c**p of the highest order... <_< )

My Heart Will Go On - Saline Dion ( :puke2: :puke2: )

Brian Adams - Everything I Do... (infested the charts with its ugly presence for 12 weeks or summat. Awful AWFUL song. And so embarrassing because this was back in the days of 'Madchester', Stone Roses, Rave, etc when people really should've been exercising better taste. Still, it wasn't real music fans buying this dreck, it was the bored housewives, the grannies, the "buy one or two records a year" w/ankers.... <_< )

Wet Wet Wet - Love Is All Around (cheesy, awful and just so criminally bad it defies words.... How DARE this pile of sh!te keep Pulp's marvellous "Common People" off the No 1 slot... Again, like with Adams, it was something totally out of step with the current music trend... Britpop denied its rightful place by another bloody crappy film soundtrack song... Housewives and grannies again.... <_<

Nickleback - How You Remind Me - Should've been called " how you remind me of far better bands than you'll ever be, you hopeless Canadian tw/ats....". I actually found this song offensive as a Nirvana/Pearl Jam/Alice In Chains/Soundgarden fan.....

Surprised Nickelback remind you of grunge - they reminded me of some hoary old git doing a cover of Stiltskin's one and only hit.

Oh GAWD Stiltskin...... :puke2: :puke2: I tried so hard to forget them..... They were Canadian as well weren't they...? Canada really has been responsible for a LOT of musical horrors.....

Nickleback really really wanna be a Grunge band though, they try so desperately hard.... No one seems to have told them that they're about decade TOO LATE for it.....  Grunge was about a certain place, a certain attitude and a certain time and can never be repeated....

Actually Pulp's - Common People was kept off the top of the chart by a much more vile musical offering: Robson & Jerome - Unchained Melody.

Shakira - Hips dont lie (anything by this ghastly woman, actually)

Celine Dion - everything she sings... painful

Mariah Carey - as above

Michael Jackson - Earth Song (what about the elephants indeed....)

Eminem - anything by him.... vileness personnified

Stevie Wonder - I just called to say I love you

Lionel Richie - Hello

Cliff Richard - anything

and, of course, anything by Westlife...

The kylie and jason is such a cheesy classic though. I love it and not just becuase im a kylie fan

Russt..... I'm feeling you big time! (Not in the physical sense, of course!...)

Off the top of my head:

Shakira - Hips Don't Lie (a truly vile record made even worse by that tit Wyclef Jean, and speak of the devil...)

Wyclef Jean - Perfect Gentlemen

NickelCACK - How You Remind Me (insipid Canadian dirge!)

Toploader - Dancing In The Moonlight (Very possibly the most uncoolest band of all time?)

Robbie Williams - Angels

Robbie Williams - Rock DJ

Robbie Williams - Supreme

Robbie Williams - Old Before I Die

Robbie Williams - Rude Box

Robbie Williams - Something Beautiful (OK you get the picture...)

Dario G - Sunschyme

Ian Van Dhal - Castles In The Sky

Eminem - Mockingbird

Akon - Lonely (Are you surprised?)

Chumbawamba - Tubbthumping

Anastacia - Left Outside Alone (EVIL woman!)

Avril Lavigne - Complicated
