Ex-Boybander Plans to Shock Film World

British pop star Robbie Williams is being lined up to star in a remake of the classic Doris Day movie Calamity Jane. Moves are well underway to sign Robbie to reprise the Howard Keel role with an as yet unnamed female singer, rumoured to be Christina Aguilera, starring as Calamity.

A spokesman for Robbie said last night

' He just loves the old show tunes from Calamity Jane. When he was a boy neighbours could hear the distinctive strains of 'The Black Hills of Dakota' coming from his bedroom window above the family pub. Robbie has made no secret of his wish to break into Hollywood and this will be a fantastic opportunity for him'.

Martin Scorsese is set to direct the blockbuster which I understand will be filmed in North Yorkshire in 2008.

Whip-crack-away Robbie!

This is fantastic news! I just love Calamity Jane.

OMG :o

His spokesperson confirmed it. :o

I don't know what to think of this, but if Martin Scorsese is directing it should be great :D

I have never seen the film, what is it about? Will he be singing?

I really can't believe this, and when I first read it I just said to myself, "oh the usual Robbie is going to be acting c**p", but if his spokeperson said it was true then it must be true. And Xtina to star opposite? Oh dear

Exactly. I've no doubt this one is totally true. I'm so excited.

And Martin Scorsese directing his first musical too. :o Bet he wouldn't have agreed to that if it hadn't have been starring Robbie.

This is wonderful!!!!! http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g107/supreme_album/Smileys/a040.gif http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g107/supreme_album/Smileys/a040.gif http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g107/supreme_album/Smileys/a040.gif

Well, his films always have guns in them. And there are guns in Calamity Jane. Maybe he fancied a change.

I expect Martin saw Robbie riding that horse in the Feel video and realised he'd be perfect for the role. ^_^ And he does suit a cowboy hat.
my mother loves CJ the musical....im sure she'd be very interested in the remake

Another interesting news. :yahoo:

Go Robbie!!!

I hate to say this and of course I could be out on a loop here.

BUT it is April the 1st you know.

And why would they film it in North Yorkshire for goodness sake. I loved Calamity Jane but its all about Chicagie you know. The Windy City. US of A. North Yorkshire is more Wuthering Heights. Acutally Robbie would make a good Heathcliffe I think.

Having put a dampner on it, I still think he should be in a films.lol

Yeah he could really ' RAVAGE ' the Wimmin on the Moors... I am first in the lineup...Ok... ;)

Like Susie I'm pretty sure it's just another April Fools. Shame actually, some of those I'd like to be true. :(

Seeing him on the big screen is something I'd love to see happening one day.

I hate April Fools :(

Why on earth would you hate April Fools day. It is hilarious

But again, this is not a thread to discuss the first day of the months, it is a thread about Rob's film, to which a spokesperson has confirmed.
