I wasn't too sure what forum to put this in but sadly it does now appear that Andy Abraham has officially been dropped. These rumours have been spreading since February now and there has been no denial on anyone's part. Whilst his last album didn't sell much and only charted at number 19, it also got a number 19 single and considering both the single and album were released in the christmas rush, they in my opinion are not bad positions. Sadly SonyBMG clearly lost interest in him and despite telling him they wanted his third album to consist of all his own material which he has wrote, they obviously felt that was not strong enough so have therefore dropped him. Despite this however, he will be supporting Ronan Keating in a few concerts in Brighton this summer. Ronan Keating's solo career is also clearly going down the pan despite it overall being a success.

Poor Andy. However just to clarify there are not a few concerts in Brighton with Ronan only just the one show, and it is a Charity event. Ronan has an arena tour in Asia in May and will be heading to Australia later in the Summer to tour there. Because of this he is only doing in 2 summer shows in the UK the one in Brighton and another in the Isle of Mann. He is also doing 3 concerts in Germany and 2 in Switzerland all in June. At the start of the year he did an arena tour in South Africa. On top of that he is also running the London Marathon on the 22nd of April he is raising money for Cancer Researh - not bad for someone going down the pan, I'm sure he will survive

I think the last albums success wasn't that bad considering when it was released, didn't G4's album do far worse?
Another one from X-Factor hung out to dry by Cowell, a mothers day release album and then dropped. If there was a step-mothers day and a foster-mothers day, Cowell would cash in on that too. It's a shame because Andy is such a nice guy with a nice voice, but he won't make them anymore money, I'm sure Andy will always be a singer and get plenty of work though, so good luck to him.
whos he?

Andy at the Royal Albert Hall last year, what a difference a year makes and he sounds a bit like Nat King Cole, he used to be a bin man.

My thoughts exactly mate....

Another one of Cowell's puppets from all accounts...

Oh well, who cares..? If he'd been that good he'd've never needed to resort to appearing on a crappy Reality TV prog.... Just having a 'nice voice' aint enough..... Plenty of people who do Karaoke down the Dog and Duck of a Friday night have a 'nice voice', to be a serious artist, it takes something that bit more....

A few years time, it'll be Leona Lewis making an appearance in a thread like this.... I'll put a fiver on it...

we all know the cowell motto is "use them then dump them" reality tv acts are about timing, cashing in on the hype at the time using a tv audience to generate sales its not about nurturing an artist or giving them good original songs or longevity, watch ray and ben get dropped i don't know when but it'll happen 100% the list goes on and on how many reality tv acts have lost their record deal, its a farce

Yeah but in The UK where he really wants success it has recently started to falter and yes G4's album also sadly did poorly and charted lower than Andy's at number 21 however they have not been dropped and there future with the label is currently very safe.

Just seen on the albums of 2006 his sold 117,000 :o I thought it did a lot worse! This makes it even more shocking they dropped him!

now that's just plain daft, it sold well considering it's date of release, and that's a repsectable number considering it got lost in the Xmas rush.

How can artists develop if record labels never give them the chance.

yer i thought it sold like 40-50k ;)

yer i thought it sold like 40-50k ;)

 So did I, I can't believe how much it sold, that is soo good imo for when it was released! Stupid record company -_-

And also, had nothing to do with this, but, Simon Webbe was also dropped when his album sold well Grace Simon Webbe * 158,500

I thought it sold something like 80,000 :o I don't get these record companys, and also Sanctuary sold 313,000 last year. So thats nearly 500,000 albums in a year, not including singles, imo that is a lot, so what do these record companies bloody want

Edited by wingnut..johnny boi

record companies use peoplpe especially simon cowell, when on x factor his promises his acts the earth moon and the stars then he drops them like a hot potato

Rubbish sales figures for a so-called "Pop(ular)" act though, let's face it (the only point of manufactured pop is to 'shift units' after all).... Let's compare that to, say, hmmm, let's see.....Arctic Monkeys....??? Evanescence????   117,000 is respectable for a Metal or alternative act....
