April 4, 200718 yr Poland / Ukraine. Two decent teams less = better chance for England to qualify!
April 4, 200718 yr Poland / Ukraine I've not got a great history on the pros and cons or any geographical evidence to back me up but from a footballing fans point of view I think it could be excellent. Poland and (to a lesser extent) Ukraine are two teams that have been on the outskirts of European football for a good few years now. They have shown potential, predominantly in Germany 06, but have been unlucky due to the size of their team. With them being the host nation I think it could be a really interesting spectacle to watch!
April 4, 200718 yr Poland/Ukraine but no doubt it wil go to the corrupt land of football, Italy, where tapping up refs and fixing matches is apparently allowed -_-
April 5, 200718 yr Not Italy- they'll prob try to beat us up in the stands (i've come to this conclusion after seeing the violence in the Man U game yesterday)
April 5, 200718 yr Author This is the thrid time in a row that Hungary is on the run: they tried for 2004 with Austria, they ran solo in 2008 and now they're teaming up with Croatia.
April 5, 200718 yr Hungary and Croatia. :D Very different from anywhere we've had before... when do we find out? Edit: Answered my own question, it's 18th April in Cardiff.
April 5, 200718 yr I voted Poland/Ukraine as i don't really care where it is but it would create a lot of jobs...
April 5, 200718 yr Either of the two joint options. So long as it is not the land of racist Footballers; supporters who murder; corrupt officials, players & referees and policeman who regard all travelling English supporters as hooligans and scum.
April 9, 200718 yr I think Italy have counted themselves out even though they will have by far the best facilities. I want to know why a Scotland / Ireland joint bid isn't going in again - they'd win that easily...unless mainland Europeans voted in a bemusing fashion again (like Austria / Switzerland)
April 9, 200718 yr Author The hosts will be announced on April 18th in Cardiff. Russia, Romania, Azerbeijan, Greece and Turkey, all with solo bids, were also in the race. Greece and Turkey were cut on round 2. Edited April 9, 200718 yr by N-S
April 9, 200718 yr Azerbaijan. :( I still don't understand why these countries - as well as Armenia, Kazakhstan, Georgia etc. - are allowed to enter for European Championships... they're not in Europe. Or is it like the Eurovision where you can if you are in the European Broadcasting Union?
April 9, 200718 yr Author Azerbaijan, Armenia and Georgia were always considered European countries right from their independence. Kazakhstan is a member of UEFA since 2002 but in other sports they are in the Asian Federations. Maybe they shift continental federations to have some more competitive tounraments, like Australia that moved from Oceania to Asian Federation in football.
