I still really like the album. Some of the tracks took quite a few listens though, for me to get my head around them.

I got the link before I went away on Thursday from Evmark [:wub:] but I was in a rush and didn't go to download it until I got home today and now it's been removed. :angry:

Is there another link because 'When You're Gone' I have heard in full and it is the BEST Avril song since 'I'm With You'. :wub:

My quick review of the album

 

01 - Girlfriend - Ive loved this since i first got it, catchy poppy rock with that :cheer: chorus - 9/10

02 - I Can Do Better - Another catchy song, less happy and fun then 'Girlfriend' but its still good - 8/10

03 - Runaway - I like the chorus, but thats about it, a bit bland :wacko: - 5/10

04 - The Best Dam Thing - I love this lol even though its the chav song of the album, its stunning lol - 9/10

05 - When You're Gone - Amazing ballad, my fav ballad on the album and similar to 'Im With You' slightly - 10/10

06 - Everything Back But You - Great song, reminds me of some song i cant remember the name of lol but its catchy - 8/10

07 - Hot - The chorus for this seems a completely different song to the verses, but its quite good - 7/10

08 - Innocense - Another stunning ballad, love it, such a nice song - 9/10

09 - I Don't Have To Try - Catchy song again, i liked this from first listen and its random intro lol - 8/10

10 - One Of Those Girls - Another good song, but its just good, not much to say - 7/10

11 - Contagious - I dont like this much, worst song on the album its quite short to - 4/10

12 - Keep Holdin On - Finishes with the amazing ballad from Eragon, still love it - 9/10

 

Overall: Great album album but i prefer her other albums slightly more, 8/10

It's a very 'cheerful' album but I think some of the songs are too similar to 'Girlfriend' almost trying to recreate it.

I love 'Runaway' + 'When You're Gone'.

01 - Girlfriend - amazing and catchy, love it ever since I first heard it 10/10

02 - I Can Do Better - a great break-up song, should be 2nd single 9/10

03 - Runaway - a good summer song, reminds me of Pink - Who Knew a bit, great chourus 8/10

04 - I Can Do Better - catchy enough, just not keen on how the chorus is totally different from the verses its doesnt really fit in well 07/10

05 - When Your Gone - amazing ballads proberly one of her best ballads EVER 10/10

06 - Everything Back But You - this song is amazing another great break-up song as well 9/10

07 - Hot - probably my least favorite song on the album decent enough though 6/10

Girlfriend - LOVE IT. My fave Avril single, and made me fall in love with her tbh :heart: 10/10

I Can Do Better - I really quite like this, so catchy and yeah :wub: 9/10

Runaway - I love the lyrics to this and the chorus is amazing ^_^ 9/10

The Best Damn Thing - I hate the start of this song for some reason. I do like it, not the best on the album tho. 7/10

When You're Gone - Pure amazingness :wub: Her best song ever along with ''Girlfriend'' and ''I'm With You''. 10/10

Everything Back But You - I really like this, it's catchy and a good song to sing along to imo. 9/10

Hot - LOVE THIS. So catchy and just great. 10/10

Innocence - So gorgeous, the lyrics and her vocals are amazing. A really strong ballad. 10/10

I Don't Have To Try - Meh. Okay, not as good as the others and starting to get a bit samey. 7/10

One Of Those Girls - It's alright, not a standout, just average I think. 6/10

Contagious - This was my favourite from the clops but I was kinda let down when I heard in full :(. Still okay though. 6/10

Keep Holding On - Loved it when I heard it in November and still love it now ^_^ 9/10

Girlfriend Well we all know this one - definately a song I thought would never work at first and that Av Lav had lost her mind. Just become her biggest hit ever in the UK though. Great to dance to, parody, just all round fun song that appeals to everyone. 10/10

I Can Do Better Not keen on this song at all. Fear it will be a single in favour of much better songs. Very usual Avril but it doesn't really stand out or grip me in anyway. 7/10

Runaway This song has potential to be a huge hit if released at the right time. It's very 'Who Knew' esque - still maintaining what we've come to expect of AVril but also something different - you could imagine it being a huge radio hit and a great summer song. 10/10

The Best Damn Thing The album's title track and hmm not the Best Damn Track - sort of like 'Girlfriend's sister. More bratty confidence with randomers going 'hey ho' and Avril proclaiming she's the best damn thing that your eyes have ever seen. She loves her little cheerleader asnthems right now doesn't she? :o 9/10

When You're Gone My personal favourite I have loved since I heard the 30 second clip. It's nothing that hasn't been done before but it's always beautiful to see Avril's vulnerable side - you can really feel her stress the emotion as she sings about missing the one she loves. I'd have to rate it as her best ballad to date even above 'I'm With You'. 10/10

Everything Back But You Oh my she's really pissed off here :o Another great, boybashing stormer of a song that the intro scarily reminds me of Son Of Dork's 'Ticket Outta Loserville'. 8/10

Hot Forgive me for thinking this was a chav anthem in the making. Very catchy and very saucy - it seems Avril has really got a huge confidence boost from her days of moaning and teenage woes. 8/10

Innocence The other ballad - overshadowed by 'When You're Gone' but that doesn't mean it's any worse. A beautiful song that shows that the little girl is still inside this confident, bitchy little $l*t we've been treated to on the first few tracks. :lol: 10/10

I Don't Have To Try Very ironic song title as it seems she really hasn't tried on this one at all. Easily the weakest song on the album for me and shockingly reminiscent of Snoop Dogg's 'Drop It Like It's Hot' at the start before bursting into yet another pop/rock outing we've heard over and over again. 6/10

One Of Those Girls Is it about hookers or gold diggers? :o Grami does just not know - but hmm again getting a bit bored of the repetitiveness by now but it at least holds a tune better than it's predecessor. 7/10

Contagious A little short offering stuck on at the end - short but sweet and definately contagious. 8/10

Keep Holding OnI Can't tell the difference. New version my foot. :smoke: Still amazing song though. 10/10


[/b]OVERALL: Well Avril has been away for 3 years and has only managed to give us 12 songs? But question is are they up to the cut? It's definately The Best Damn album you'll buy this year but has yet to grow on me and truly cement itself as a true classic - as with all albums there are some fillers but the amazing highlights completly overshadow that and it may not be the best album of Avril's career - but it's definately a great soundtrack to the summer. 9/10[/b]

I downloaded what I thought was the album, and it turned out it was a load of old Avril songs that had been labelled as the new one. I was really confused reading your reviews and then listening to the songs because nothing matched up.

 

One of the songs was really good though and I had never heard it before. The chorus goes "Things happen for a reason, you'll become a stronger person, when life tears you up, you'll understand." Anyone know what song that is?

 

As for the album - really liking so far. Not really an Avril fan but this album has converted me.

i am waitin until monday to listen to it! although i have wanted to download it. but i hvae managed to control myself so far!
