in my eyes it has to be On Her Majystys Secret Service. At the end its quite sad when bonds wife gets shot and hes just sitting there crying then it goes of.

its also got evrything, car chases, ski chases, beautifull location work, a good plot...etc..

OHMSS would be the best Bond film, but for one very unfortunate thing - George fukkin' Lazenby (a BLOODY AUSTRALIAN PLAYING BOND!!!!  )...... All the acting ability of a plank of wood, he single handedly stops that film from becoming truly great... <_< If Connery had done the film, then I would certainly agree with you.... Diana Rigg and Telly Savalas were both marvellous, but even they weren't able to cover for Lazenby's lousy acting..... The ending is really good though...

I would really love to see a remake of OHMSS with Daniel Craig, it would be brilliant....

My fave Bond film - "Goldfinger", as it will always be so..... Simply marvellous... The recent "Casino Royale" comes a close second... A fukkin' great Bond film, Craig is easily the best Bond since Connery....

the thing that puts me off casino... is that it starts the story line over again. the book by flemmings awsome though. i would of prefered it to be a normal film.

If connery had of been bond in ohmss, it would of been okish, i think george was a worthy succeser. when sean returned in 71 for diamonds are forever harry and cubby added an element of humor, and hed put on weight. i think he shouldnt of come back in my eyes. he went out on high with you only live twice

goldfinger is the perfect bond film on all levels, just that scene alone where jill is gold is brilliant. goldfinger is the start of the big budget-action packed bond film.

You see, I liked that though... It's clearly stating that it's Bond going "back to basics", and with Casino Royale actually being the first book (and never properly adapted for screen anyway, save for that quite dreadful 60s "spoof"....) I feel that it's highly appropriate for the story arc to begin again with a new Bond clearing the decks of all that has gone before and starting over... It was necessary IMO because Bond had just become bloated and ridiculous, the Brosnan years were just treading water for the most part.. It sorta reminded me of what "Batman Begins" did, a fresh start for an overly-familiar character...

tomorow never dies was brosnans best. die another die was abit too big, when i saw it on dvd i sort of sat saying "wel, how can they try and get bigger than this"?? invisible cars?? it was getting ridiculous

Hmm, I actually thought Goldeneye was Brosnan's best effort... Martin Campbell (Casino Royale) directing again... I reckon Campbell's the man for directing Bond films at the moment, the two he's done have been the best of the modern Bonds IMO...

I made the reference to Campbell with regards to the modern Bonds (ie, the Bonds from the 90s onwards...) primarily...

But just for the heck of it...

1. Goldfinger

2. Casino Royale (2006)

3. Dr No

4. From Russia With Love

5. Goldeneye

---------------------------------

Bubbling under are -

Thunderball

On Her Majesty's Secret Service (which would almost certainly be in my Top 5 were it not for Lazenby...)

Licence To Kill (Dalton, very much an under-rated Bond...)

daltons way to underated, the living daylights and liscence to kill were sadly forgotten about but whilst rewatching them you get to see a brilliant actor, playing bond how he was written in the flemming books.
For me Licence so kill and The man with the golden gun.

..Which is pretty much the way Craig is playing him too... Seriously, with a harsh, cold-blooded, brutal streak in him, but still the sheer charisma is there also.. I just loved the line in Casino Royale where the bartender asks "Shaken or stirred sir..?", to which Bond very tersely replies "Do I look like I give a damn?"... The torture sequence was great too, with Bond's defiant line "The whole world will know you died scratching my balls"... And the character interplay between Bond and Vesper was quite probably some of the best dialogue I've ever heard in any Bond film...

01 Goldfinger

02 Casino Royale

03 GoldenEye

04 The Spy Who Loved Me

05 Thunderball

And the remake of Thunderball (Never Say, Never Again) with Kim Basinger is totally pants

Agreed.. Pretty terrible.. Connery really did no favours for himself there...

wernt he about 60 by 1983??

roger was 57 in a view to a kill!

I dont really like Roger Moore though mate... When I was younger, yeah, but I look back at the Roger Moore Bonds and I just think they're pretty crappy.... Well, okay "Live and Let Die" is okay, and "The Man With The Golden Gun" does have Christopher Lee in it to make up for old Rog.....
