Totally right Chapstick. I didn't like 'September' much when I first heard it, but I absolutely hated it when I heard it fourteen times an hour on the TV music channels. I used to call it 'Wake Me Up When This Is No Longer on the Radio 1 Playlist' too.

As for Sum 41, I'd say that they, along with Blink 182, are semi-responsible for the easy-access punk-lite sound of Busted...so they're almost to blame for kids coming along and 'ruining bands' by having the audacity to like them.

Kids like what's in the charts...when I was 13 I got into Happy Mondays, Inspiral Carpets, James, Carter USM, KLF etc as a result of their success crossing over. Would have been pretty horrible if I'd been told I wasn't allowed to like them because I hadn't heard James and the Mondays playing stinky gigs at the Hacienda in 1985 or didn't know who Jamie Wednesday or the Justified Ancients of Mu Mu were.

dude i find that happened with BOBD, that was played to the point where i had to switch it off when it came on the hits. annoys me so much esp when its mashed with Oasis and you've got the pub quiz man singing over the top

or i suppose told that you cannot listen to Serge and Camille because your not French, or read Simon Reynolds as you dont know the scene from personal first time experience.

Jamie Wednesday??? who???

is it a band like Thursday or a solo bloke like Gavin Friday???

The two blokes from Carter USM were in Jamie Wednesday in the mid-80s, they were quite twee and jangly - like later Carter USM but with trumpets.

http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=33967 Watch the first two videos in this thread before saying that!!! . I kind of agree about Blink but it's still harsh to compare them with busted! :D

Ah yes, you say yourself that they've matured since 'Fat Lip' - that's what I was referring to in terms of inspiring Busted.

Youtube is banned at my work - for once I'm glad ;)
