Queen's Seven Seas of Rhye got its big promotional break when it was added last minute to Top Of The Pops when a promo film of the following song failed to materialise in time for the show.

Oh & you'll realise that Queen had a #1 hit with this artist in 1981 as well.....

Satisfaction was the 2nd of 3 singles released in the UK by the Rolling Stones in 1965 all of which went to #1.

last time at this point i posted an obscure band called the apples. however the beatles made loads of money for emi as they were on their parlophone record label. One of the earlist cat nos for Parlophone i have found is R 3658 which was Frank Chacksfields' record Little Red Monkey in April 1953.

Peter Gabriel - Shock The Monkey

Peter Gabriel liked calling all his albums Peter Gabriel as he couldnt think of a good name!!! OVO wtf  ???

a Mr Heidi Klum also had this problem calling every album after himself (Mr Heidi Klum  )

Mr Heidi Klum once got a number one hit with a bloke called Adam Sky called Killer that was also covered by a certain Mr. George Michael in the time when he was not either at Wembley or slumped in his car and also a german bloke called André Tanneberger. The German dude, not only being the same nationality as Heidi Klum also had a number one hit, just like Mr. Heidi Klum.

ATB - 9 PM (Till I Come)

Mr Heidi Klum had a #1 duet with French mega star Mylene Farmer. She also dueted with Moby

Moby & Mylène Farmer - Slipping Away (Crier La Vie)

Moby's only decent song is the Twin Peaks sampling 'Go'. Twin Peaks main theme was written by Angelo Badalamenti who collaborated briefly with Tim Booth in Booth and the Bad Angel. Tim Booth was and is lead singer of James who have just reformed. So...one of James' less celebrated but best songs...

James - Sound

At the height of their popularity, James played a gig at Alton Towers (in the rain). The support act were Public Image Ltd. So,

John Lydon has been immortalised in a song. Which I remember from his entertaining VH1 show from the mid to late 1990s he said that he hated.....

Neil Young & Crazy Horse - Hey Hey My My (Into The Black)

Crazy Horse was the nickname of former Liverpool captain Emlyn Hughes. John Peel was a massive fan of Liverpool, but he was also a massive fan of The Fall so...

The Fall - Hit The North

The only time I met John Peel was at an early P J Harvey gig. He still hadn't seen the band at the time and, indeed, missed them that night as well because he had to leave to do his show. So,

PJ Harvey has done a murder ballad duet with Nick Cave.

As has Kylie Minogue, so lets have my favourite song by her (& her least successful charting single):

Kylie Minogue - Some Kind Of Bliss

The Butthole Surfers released a cover of 'Hurdy Gurdy Man' as their debut 45 for Rough Trade. They are also responsible for the first use of the old 'A funny thing about regret is that it's better to regret something you have done than to regret something you haven't done..." line. Which, of course, is now better known for its use on

Orbital - Satan

btw that hurdy gurdy man sounded great on zodiac!!! but what is a hurdy gurdy actually???

the cure - hot hot hot next. obv recent single connections here

A hurdy-gurdy is a musical instrument. You turn a handle with one hand and operate keys with the other.

Anyway, most Cure releases were on Fiction records. So, let's combine that with another record label to give some classic 80s jangly pop,

Fiction Factory - (Feels Like) Heaven

Ooh, nice linking there.

Sticking with Factory, arguably their biggest ever band were New Order.

New Order - Everything's Gone Green

Yes, I was rather pleased with that link :P

So, on to the next one. Green Gartside was the singer with Scritti Politti. I can't find a video but it's still a good song...

Scritti Politti - The Sweetest Girl
